To Yewandequeen We had actually gotten to the front Maysons hostel, when we perceived the stench of kush. ''Temy you dey perceive that Igbo smell?'' Thompson said with a broad smile on his face. ''Na who go dey kpo this kind hot afternoon like this'' I asked rhetorically. ''Ekpoma boys don too virus o.'' ''oh boy, that one no concern me. Me wan go dey well o'' Thompson said as he wiped the dripping sweat that was rolling down his face with a towel. We traced the smell of the weed to the back of the hostel, only to find ourselves in the midst of strange faces, and Amongst them was Mayson and Smart. Mayson: Temy how far now.I no know say you go show o. How far now? Me: I dey Smart: oh boy ye, see my guys. Thompson how you dey na. E don tey o. Temybaba long time. Temy: Smarto, Na una leave me for street na. Its not fair o. I hailed everyone of them in the gathering. infact Every single individual in the gathering were all high on marijuana, their eyes were looking red like they were victims of Apollo infection. Temy: Mayson, una don too dey well. See how your eyes red. Chai! Mayson: Na so o. What to do... We thank God for the trees Smart: Thompson roll up na... With a broad smile on Thompsons face, Thompson bent down immediately and cut a huge pound of weed in his palm and began to mould it in his hands. Mayson: JESUS! Wetin be that? Thompson: wetin happen? (looking shocked) Mayson: you wan kill your self? You wan from here dey go Uselu psychiatric hostel, abi you wan leg am from here go yabaleft.. That weed too much na, that one na for like 5 people? Smart: leave am.. We go buy more weed na Mayson: you no understand, we just have to be economical. Things don increase. Me: Thompson brain no strong... Smart head even strong pass Thompson head sef. Mayson: you say wetin...?? (laughing) Me: you dey find my mouth abi Smart: you see that time wey I jonz, wey I almost craze. Na 3 black bullet I take.... In one shot. Na why I jonz like that. Mayson my head strong o. No reason me. Mayson: no be lie sha. Black bullet na very strong drink o. Thompson: bro, Nothing fit make me jonz. Me and Alcohol dey relate like say we be brothers. Infact Kush na my best friend too and Tramadol be my wife. Me: and na person pikin be this o. Thompson: sharrap. See your head like ball. Smart: oboy! E don tey wey men don play ball o. Mayson: no be lie o. I fit still remember that year when I been wan play for super eagles. I been dey train with them mikel but na because of Aau admit me that's why I gast quit. Smart: bros, take am easy na o. My head dey hot. This your lie fit wake dead person. Mayson: wetin this one dey yan? Me: make all of us play ball for field na. E don tey o Thompson: no be lie. After I don finish this igbo, I go con get strength. After the weed session, everyone wore their football kit and headed straight to the football field. Some wore Just boxers and singlet, while other wore jersey and shorts. We were about 8 in number, we selected ourselves. We were four in number, with four other opponents. Smart and Mayson weren't in my team but Thompson was. We had two other individuals who came to join us. The game kicked start with a first pass from my team. Things were moving smoothly, we were gaining lots of possessions, passing the ball around ourselves with perfect touches. I stayed at the back distributing long passes to my team members and before 10 minutes, we were two goals up. After scoring our opponents 2-0, the game became rough. Smart became more aggressive as he'd make unnecessary tackles without considering the kind of injury he was inflicting on my team members. ''wetin dey sup now. You wan break my leg'' Thompson said, as he laid on the floor massaging his leg ''you no even sabi play'' ''you dey mad... Which kind talk be that one, you play pass me'' Smart rebuked him immediately. ''You dey call me Mad... See this guy o'' Thompson said as he tried to limp out of the field. ''I go shook you now, make ogun kill you'' Smart continued ''make una no dey behave like small pikin now'' I said trying to resolve the issue at hand. ''you just wait for me... Thompson, no move o'' Smart said angrily as he ran into Maysons room. Within a twinkle of an eye, smart came out of the room and on his left hand was a knife. ''I go shook you now... You just talk anyhow for there'' Smart said with anger written all over his face. ''see this guy o. Them never born you well'' Thompson said, trying to defend himself. ''wetin dey xup now, make una behave'' Mayson said, holding smart from behind. But before one could say Jack Robinson, Smart ran towards Thompson and aggressively tore his cheek with the sharp knife, thick red blood began to gush out of Thompsons face rapidly. Smart didn't stop, he went ahead to draw another sharp cut on thompsons fore head. It was indeed a bloody scene. I ran over to smart, obtained the knife from him and I gave him several punches on his face until I was satisfied. Thompson was left with a scare. 1 Like 2 Shares |
