ttmacoy: Dude, there have been several instances of legal residents of the U.S who went outside the country only to be detained when they returned. The other day I read about a popular Argentinian artist who has lived in New York for 10 years and went back home to visit only to be detained for 14 hours at the airport when he got back. He wasn't even allowed to communicate with anyone via phone the entire time not even a lawyer. After everything, he was deported back to Buenos Aires. 2 Likes |

At the early stage, we don't have any problem with the united state immigration, people started saying no more 2years visa for Nigerians, no more drop box, can anyone point this out on their website, everything is cool inside the united state, no arrest of Nigerians no deportation, Nigerian citizen has a lot of problem we love to link nigeria to every bad news , Travel tip #delete chats #format laptop #delete facebook they can ask you to sign in #re move usa contact from ur phone or edit +1 to 080, #receive calls, text message, #remember all what u wrote on ur form, occupation, salary and ur duties, Wishing u good 3 Likes |

This has nothing to do with trump. Hundreds of nigerians fly into USA every day. Those 4 persons should check themselves |

ttmacoy: Trumps executive order included " extreme vetting" Immigration officials can use discretion to void a visa. America has always reserved the ri to turn people back at the gates. What is different is how it is currently being exercised. There was absolutely nothing wrong with Dabiri's warning. A person in her position has significant off the record back channel chat with foreign consular officials. These non attributable chats can reveal current attitudes and interpretations of immigration. She was right to warn and the accuracy of the notice has been borne out. Let not turn what is administrative into a political tennis match. She did well by Nigeria. 6 Likes 2 Shares |

Yes there have been some minor cases of green card holders being detained but if it happened after the last order was over ruled by the judge then how can it be due to trump's order? Even during Obama and any other president green card holders have been detained if there is a reason to do so. With the new executive order it has been made very clear green card holders and people with existing visas will not be affected, and it clearly only targets 6 specific countries (Iraq has been removed as the Iraqi government put in place extra measures from their end). I agree some green card holders were initially detained when the first order was issued and that was due to the abrupt manner it was implemented amid confusion, but it was later confirmed green card holders would not be impacted. I still don't see how any of this warrants a travel advice from Abike Dabiri. She claims 4 Nigerians were sent back in the last 2 weeks, I am very sure it was not because of the executive order but something else especially as she says they cancelled their visa at the airport which suggest immigration fraud. This always happened even during Obama's time. The only situation I can see a Nigerian being impacted by the executive order is if you have travelled to one of the countries on the watch list. This will definitely flag you up for extra questions and you may be sent back. davidif: 1 Like |

I disagree, please show me proof of any Nigerian who's visa was cancelled because of the order. IT will be because of immigration fraud or if you have visited one of the countries on the watch list and you are a concern. The average and ordinary Nigerian will not be impacted and given the number of flights and people leaving Nigeria to America daily, only 4 people turned back in two weeks is a very very small proportion so her warning is unwarranted. I'm sure even people from visa counties like the UK would have had similar number turned back in 2 weeks. greenpasture: 2 Likes |

This is relative and based on personal choice. I prefer America but that does not mean I am saying it is better, it just means I prefer it based on my preferences and life choices especially compared to London where I lived for 10 years. I've visited Canada and it is a lovely place but I wouldn't take it over the US. Also Wellington etc. are all nice, everywhere has its pros and cons, but I currently work with a New Zealander who wouldn't go back as he doesn't think there are enough opportunities so its all a matter of personal preference rather than A is better than B. what's all the fuss about? It's a known fact all over the world the fact that you were given an entry visa is not a guarantee that you'll be allowed to enter any country whose Embassy issued the visa. you have to satisfied the Border control officer or the immigration officer at the point of entry, and in this case the United State Homeland Security. Many immigrants have been turned back countless times from some Point of Entry in the United States long before Donald Trump became president.. why is Abike Dabiri making a mountain out of a mole hill. Nigerians do not need her advice. by so doing she has inadvertently drew unwarranted focus on Nigerians. Nigeria are not singled out in any Trumps Travel Ban or new immigration policy. She has also succeeded in creating fear on innocent prospective Nigerian immigrants. My take is this....please whoever has any legitimate business doing in the United States, go ahead and do so. we don't need Dabiris travel advice. 2 Likes |

You are right bro. These are the people who lie to get their visas. Then going through his phone, immigration would have seen some vital evidence of him chatting never to come back to Nigeria. We were warned about social media checking at port of entry as new measures. His case will let others to be wiser meanwhile my friend and his wife just entered JFK airport 3days back. ttmacoy: 1 Like |

Is a serious case, I was denied entry. My visa was cancelled and I was banned to apply for 5 years. This affected about five of us that are Nigerians at same time same day. It also affected many other nationalities that day. They will soon be tired of the shit, their citizens are lazy. When it started affecting their economy they will intensify "visa lottery". |

ttmacoy: I agree with you. I know a Nigerian who likes Canada more than US despite being citizens of both countries. With respect to US/Canada vs London, I think people will prefer US/Canada. London to me is just an adanced Lagos! When I lived there, I thought I was still in Nigeria! 1 Like |

What I was told by someone is that the fact that you have two year multiple entry visa does not give u the right to go and spend say 9 months in a year in USA( two visits) This shows you don't have anything doing in Nigeria. They will be wary of you when returning back to US, and you can be denied entry 1 Like |
