It is quite shocking to discover that the wrong people have been celebrated for centuries for what they stole from others.

They have received credits, cash and their names have been immortalized. We study and hear about them whenever we are in the class and we were taught to aspire to be like them.

Here are 5 popular inventions that were built from stolen ideas.

1. The Radio
It will not be a surprise if we all say that the radio was invented by Marconi. The shocking part of the story was that Marconi stole the idea from Tesla who discovered that he could send long distance messages over electrically energized "Tesla Coils" in 1890. Marconi used Tesla's research to build a radio which was accepted in 1904 and credited to him. Tesla tried to Sue him but he was not financial bouyant enough.

2. The Telephone
Graham Bell and Antonio Meuci were colleagues who worked at a laboratory. Antonio Meuci had made a prototype of a Telephone 16 years before Graham released the first telephone.

Antonio discovered that sound could travel by electrical impulses through copper wires while researching on how to treat electric shock in the 1830's. Shortly after creating the prototype, Meuci fell sick and his wife sold his telephone prototype for $6. 16 years later, Graham Bell used his idea to invent the very first telephone.

3. The Telescope
Physics texts told us that Galiloe Galilee invented the telescope in 1609 but it was actually a stolen idea from Lippershey. In 1608, Lippershey created the very first telescope but his patent was rejected for no reason. After Galiloe heard of Lippershey's work, he decided to build his own following Lipperahey's ideas making it to see farther.

4. The Sewing machine
Isaac Singer is credited for this work but it was Elias Howe who made the first sewing machine in 1846. In 1849, Elias took Singer to court for stealing his idea. The story behind the sewing machine is quite funny because neither Singer nor Elias we're the original inventors. It was actually invented by Walter Hunt in 1834 who later discarded the idea because he thought it will lead to unemployment

Not only these ones. Some us quit our dreams when they are almost becoming a reality.

That's why I love the dude that developed an app that could help to alert NGOs when products at stores are about to expire. Some companies are ready to snap up his idea and possibly pay him peanuts compared to what he will eventually worth.

Mark Zukerberg is also an example.

5. The Television
Philo Taylor was a great inventor who was denied patent to several of his inventions. At age 21, in 1927 he put together the first working television. In 1930, Vladimir Zworykin visited him and stole his idea which he later went ahead to invent and got patent in 1938.

The story is quite confusing as we don't even know who stole from whom. Reports had it that Vladimir had created a model in 1923 bit we don't really know of the story's authenticity. All we know is that someone visited someone and stole from him.

The famous moon walk by Michael Jackson was also a stolen idea.

Nikola Tesla deserves to be crowned the greatest inventor of all time.

Certain literary works were stolen from a black woman named Amelia Bassano and credited to an illiterate white man named Williams Shakespeare.

From what I read, Lippershey filed the patent in 1608. I could be wrong

Poor Tesla, I heard he died of penury.

Meanwhile "Everybody still in commerce and industry I stole alot but I know how to steal" Thomas Edison

Tesla really suffered. What he simply asked for was creating and recognition. He never really cared about money or politics.

yeah, but d current notation being used in calculus is that of Leibniz. So I think he was recognised for his work on calculus too.

This Marconi guy sef where is he today in modern act, but Tesla is still standing strong. His coil has since been modified or reinvented (not so sure) for a different purpose. Lesson learnt: safe guard your ideals, dont go about sharing when you aren't ready.

Leibiniz, if mentioned at all, is only credited for having a different notation to be used and That's ALL.
