UNTOLD STORY OF ABIA AS AN OIL PRODUCING STATE

By Enyinnaya Appolos

When Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, said recently that the State monthly IGR will hit N2.5b by December 2017, he knows exactly where he is heading.

Today, the Governor made unscheduled on-the spot assessment tour of oil facilities in Ukwa-West LGA of the state, where major oil multinationals operating in Nigeria have been taken oil from the state without paying a dime to the State.

It was a fruitful tour, Chief Sam Nwogu, and other leaders of the oil-rich community, were on hand to conduct the Governor round major oil flow stations in Owaza and Asa communities respectively.

It will come to you as a shock, as it was to the governor, to be informed that, not only that these multinationals oil big-names have not only been paying tax to Abia state, the oil-bearing communities in the state have also benefited NOTHING from the oil companies who escort their workers from neighboring states with armed-to-the-teeth security officers every day to work in Abia and return to their base outside the state.

The environmental hazard done to the oil communities as a result of the oil exploration/gas flaring, which is unimaginable, is a story for another day.

Note, there is no presence of these oil multinationals anywhere in Abia. You can imagine why they refused to return Abia 'tithes' to the state. Abia can't even assess them for tax purposes. All that will be history soon.

Special thanks to the youths of the oil-bearing communities in Abia who have not toed the line of their counterparts in other oil producing states to vandalize and destroy oil installations.

Instead, they chose the part of dialogue, which the state Government will lead out with the oil companies to ensure that every rite is paid to both the state and the communities.

Abia better days ahead...

Wait for further details

They will click on this thread and pretend like they didn't see it but tomorrow they will continue their propaganda that south east doesn't produce oil.

He said monthly IGR, not yearly.

Ogun State's internally generated revenue in 2015 is N34.59 billion, an increase of 49.42% from previous year.

Ehr.. Ogun already generated $28-billion within 6-months in 2016 (that's already an average of $4.5-billion monthly from a non-oil producing state where many of its industries are still enjoying their tax holidays and yet to start paying taxes to the state government cheesy) and probaby doubled that by the end of same year, that's according to most recent NBS data.

While Oyo is targeting N107-billion this year N107, so our own ambition in that regard pass una own, by far.

N28 billion in 6 months and additional 6 billion in another 6 months totalling N34 billion. Company annual tax is paid yearly and not monthly hence no evenly generated monthly figures.

All these quotations are estimated and hopeful assumptions.

Can we have NBS source for clarifications.

Lol. You no current at all. The 34-billion you are quoting for Ogun is from 2015. Infact a thread was opened about the mid-term 2016 figures earlier today. cheesy

For many years, I have lamented about what is happening to Abia State, especially the Oil producing communities like Owaza.

For instance, Education in that community is completely dead, healthcare is non-existent, despite the huge oil money Nigeria makes from the community.

Below are pictures of the community school (Owaza Community Secondary School)
The first is the school principal's office and staff room:

Where did you see 2.5 billion a year are you daft?? Monthly revenue to reach 2.5 billion by december does not mean 2.5 billion per year. Enugu IGR thrashed Oyo IGR by far, despite all your "investors", Enugu has no oil too. As for ogun, it is just the Lagos extension they are enjoying, what do they have in abeokuta?? If Abia recover what has been stolen from them they will thrash Ogun by far

You're a typical shitgbo loudmouth. Ikpeazu just projected his state hitting 2.5-billion monthly IGR by December, Oyo (a state with more than double Abia's population and GDP) also declared its own target and you're here foaming in the mouth about Oyo's projections? Abeg wetin concern you? Get a life punk. It's nobody's fault that your useless and good for nothing market states have been and continue to underperform and live below expectation dude. Upon all the noises you all make about largest market in Africa e.t.c, Aba is still a pigsty with hardly any good road, let's not even mention Onitsha the pollution capital of the world (one only needs to consult one of you guys many threads by Abia and Anambra e-warriors for that). Ogun and Oyo keep attracting Nigerians from all over in droves with an ever increasing population because they have robust economies while your own states keep getting depopulated by your youths as they see no future in that hellhole of a region -- there's nothing more to do there than to trade (you people are already abandoning trading sef for drug-trafficking undecided lipsrsealed), even after your leaders keep shouting that you all should return home, una still dey flee in droves. Those are the clear and irrefutable facts that no amount of empty chest-beating can change. Now Choke on that.

Like i said, good for them, they are free to target 1 trillion per day. From 15 to 107, very good target. Are you not the same person that was foaming in the mouth as usual because NBS date placed Anambra higher than Rivers population, same depopulated shithole that everbody has fled?? Do you know that IBadan, Akure and Ilorin airports put together has less than half the air traffic in Owerri despite Owerri airport being 30 munites from PH airport?? Now you are quoting NBS on what it did not say. Last NBS data said OYo got 15bn per year, so let them continue targeting until we see the next one

Look here guy, there's no harm/nothing wrong in being ambitious. If Ikpeazu wasn't ambitious he wouldn't be targeting such a dramatic increase and even if he only manages to hit 2-billion sef na still pass mark. Same applies to Oyo -- if the state can hit even half of its projections that'll be more than awesome. Bad belle dey run belle.

There. Fixed.

To answer your question, you'd have to ask Ikpeazu why he's targeting N2.5-billion (from barely 1-billion and less previously) and not N20-billion. undecided Perhaps the Oyo state government is just more ambitious that's all. Just saying. undecided
