Though we know there have been a recent occurence for pushing of some polytechnic to university, A day is coming ahead when there will be need for some polytechnic to be converted to university and ones federal government decides, the following polytechnic have been given the hint of conversion. These polytechnic will be the front runner if polytechnic are to be converted to university and are also the best polytechnic Nigeria can boast of having. 1. Yaba College of Technology: The first higher institution in Nigeria and also the best polytechnic in Nigeria according to NUC ranking 2. Federal Kaduna Polytechnic: The best polytechnic in the north. It was published in 2010 that Yabatech and Kaduna polytechnic will be converted into a university but we were just deluded. 3. The Polytechnic Ibadan: It is also one of the best polytechnic in Nigeria. It is situated in the ancient city of Ibadan. 4. Federal Polytechnic Auchi: It was the best in 2013 and 2014. and have always maintain its standard. It also has the fastest academic. Auchi polytechnic is aiming to bounce back as the best in 2016 5. Federal Polytechnic Nekede: Founded in 1978 and since then have achieved greatness and has produce quality graduate. It is situated in owerri enugu state. 6. Moshood Abiola Polytechnic: Procedures are officially underway for the conversion of the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic to the Moshood Abiola University Of Technology. It would be recalled that President Goodluck Jonathan had tried to change University of Lagos to Moshood Abiola University, but had been met with stiff resistance so its likely Governor Ibikunle Amosun makes it possible this time. If the polytechnic Ibadan is converted to a university, that means Oyo state will have 3 universites in its domain!! Oyo can't even fully take care of Lautech which is co-owned by Osun and you want to add another burden ot its head   Wehdone!! |

I have been to Yabatech in 2010 and I agree that their infrastructure is averagely good(Nigerian Standard) but I don't agree that they should be converted. A good polytechnic should remain a good polytechnic. What we should be advocating for is equating BSc and HND. 2 Likes |
