@wip I want to attend a conference in United state by July, is it advisable to make use of the embassy in lefkosa or go to nigeria to apply. I have heard people say us embassy here mostly don't grant Nigerians visa |
Re: North Cyprus by jidoex66(m): 8:00pm On Mar 09, 2017 |
lexycool01:I advice you apply here, I have a friend that went to Lagos last year to apply. He was told he should come back here and apply. |
Re: North Cyprus by wip7: 7:15am On Mar 10, 2017 |
lexycool01: They do grant visas. Good traveling history, a tie that will likely show you will return after the conference are what they mostly look for here. Sometime they look for gap in your educational life or little background check. Just around January second week, my two undergrad and master students applied for a conference in Florida. One has spent just one year in Cyprus and been to Italy. The other lady been to U.K.....both were issued 2 yrs multiple entry USA visa ...the visa officer did not even check the bank statement nor collect it.. she only asked questions related to their sponsors and how the conference is related to their studies. |

so what you are saying is that if one comes now after classes and registration has began one won't have a place to stay or find a job to keep busy till sept wip7: |
Re: North Cyprus by john335: 3:10pm On Mar 11, 2017 |
@wip7 are you saying that if one comes now after classes and registration has already began one won't have a place to stay or a job to keep one busy till sept when one can register. because I know some one who paid her fees late.... like the last week of Feb and was told her name has been sent to the embassy. She was contemplating on going ahead with the visa or waiting till august. She said her agent told her that she could come and freeze studies till sept or get a 50-50 chance of registrng for spring if she comes before 20th of march. Since she is fresh student...know nobody in Cyprus what do u think should do....be patient till august or go ahead for spring |
Re: North Cyprus by wip7: 7:10pm On Mar 11, 2017 |
lexycool01: You may get recommendation letter but the embassies are more interested in your travelling histories, ties that will make you return, financials and how relevant what to you want to do during your trips to what you are currently doing. |
Re: North Cyprus by wip7: 7:21pm On Mar 11, 2017 |
john335: First, most universities like EMU, METU etc don't register students after add and drop period. Reason being that some of the classes might have conducted quiz or covered some lectures the students may not be able to cope. While some universities can still register the student and may not care if the student fails or not. So in the case of EMU, the student that comes late will be registered as a student but may have to wait until the following semester to start classes. Some universities hostel are filled up and that may lead the late comer to go outside searching for an apartment. That is not a problem anyway. But what is the essence of just paying an exorbitant amount for an apartment/hostel for almost 7 months when the student is not registered to take courses? Jobs are scarce so...what if the person does not find one and still paying for an apartment and eating daily? Take note, due to the exchange rate, this place is times 5 expensive compared to Nigeria. Best wishes in whatever decision the person takes! 2 Likes |

GLOBALINF: Your advert is misleading... 1. Cyprus is not in Eastern Europe 2. The tuition fees for master in EMU is not 3600 euro is roughly 6000 USD even with a scholarship (50%). 3. There is no FREE transportation for students around the city 24/7 unless specific university buses to specific destinations. 4. Discount card to shop does not work in Cyprus. Is good and important for prospective students to be told the truth rather than fancy lies! Kindly change does pieces of stuff in your advert. #Take note: Am Asst Professor here in Cyprus, with practical knowledge of South and North Cyprus! 2 Likes |

@wip7 tanks alot for ur insight I relayed your reply to her....she decided to take the lata.....she would patiently wait and fly by august to save cost and gather enough time to be prepared. Thanks 1 Like |

@wip Hello bro. Nice work you're doing. I just stumbled on this thread while searching for infos about cyprus. I'm a prospective msc student and i'm looking for an affordable school to do my msc and also a place where I can work while studying. How much shld I budget for an msc course in cyprus. What is it like living there after studies? Do they issue pr after studies? I also heard tourism and hospitality mgt is the most lucrative course there, how true is this? Is it possible to move to another country from there like say canada? Pls don't mind my plenty questions. Thanks in advance |
Re: North Cyprus by wip7: 11:06am On Mar 15, 2017 |
CaptPlanet: The entire tuition fee for the program depends on the program and university. It ranges 3900-5000 euros for the entire program. What is it like living there after studies? Do they issue pr after studies? I also heard tourism and hospitality mgt is the most lucrative course there, how true is this? Cyprus don't issue PR after studies. However, after studies, you are free to apply for a job, can live and work provided you have the legal permits. We have lots of graduates working after their studies, and there universities employing qualified graduates. Yes, Tourism and hospitality is good since some of the students find jobs in accommodation/hotel industries. Is it possible to move to another country from there like say canada? Pls don't mind my plenty questions. Cyprus does not stop you from moving to wherever you choose to move to. Hence, you can move to anywhere provided you have the requirements to be admitted to your destination. 1 Like 1 Share |

wip7: Thank you so much for this detailed info. I appreciate. I'm torn in-between doing an MBA/ international Business- and lately hospitality and tourism management ( the latter because of job opportunities though). Which schools would you advice me to apply to? I'm very concerned about job opportunities immediately after studies. What documents will be required too. Thanks alot. |
Re: North Cyprus by wip7: 4:03pm On Mar 15, 2017 |
CaptPlanet: Depends on the funds you have. For instance, EMU master program will cost you around 5700 euro based on current exchange rate, while some others are cheaper, almost 4000 euros. If you are ready let me know, so I can apply for you, and you can choose from EMU, CIU, METU, CSU, EUL and many other universities in Cyprus. For a master program, you will need to have your bachelor certificate, transcript and international passport page. Regarding job opportunities immediately you finish, is not what any person can guarantee. Many finished the tourism or others but have no job while many also finished and some got the job...What I have learnt here is that if you are ready to speak the language..you may easily find tourism related jobs. Also, if you consider teaching, there are fewer graduates of tourism with PhD around for now. Best wishes in your decision. 2 Likes |
