Dear VO, do visa officers ask married women if they are pregnant at every interview? My colleague said she wasn't asked the question at all. Will it pose as a problem for her at POE if she decides to give birth in the US?
Re: U.S. Non-immigrant Visas: We’re Listening by abujaniv: 5:07pm On Mar 12, 2017
Hello JesseJackson67. We're not going to advise you to take a test just to show at the visa interview. But here's something to consider: almost all good, legitimate schools in the US do require some type of entrance exam, be it the SAT, ACT, GRE or others. Unfortunately, there are some unscrupulous, for-profit schools that just want to collect fees from students and are not discerning at all in their entrance requirements.

JesseJackson67:
Hello
Please I have been admitted to pursue an undergraduate course of study in the US. I was offered a scholarship based on my waec results and high school transcripts. The school don't require an SAT for admission. Please is it advisable to take one just for visa interview sake?
Thanks

Hello Aruk16. Every interview is different, and the questions are varied. There is no set order of questions for any applicant type. If the purpose of travel declared in the interview and application is different from the actual purpose, it invites more scrutiny.

Hello VO, I have a valid 2 years tourist visa for myself and my family, the visa will expire by August 2017, i actually travelled with my wife to the state for my tenth year anniversary in November 2015 but yet to take my children on a trip with valid visa.

What is our chances of renewal from September and what would you advice we do to get it renewed if I am unable to use that of my children.

Thanks
Re: U.S. Non-immigrant Visas: We’re Listening by abujaniv: 10:59pm On Mar 12, 2017
Hi alexxy. We don't discuss chances here. The key is whether you and your family were compliant with the terms of the visas issued to you. Using the visa for short trips is compliant. Not traveling on the visa is also compliant. In these circumstances, the whole family would be eligible to apply via dropbox, though the possibility still exists that an interview will be necessary.

Hello jasperyct. Applicants over 79 don't need to come in for an interview. The aunt will need to get her own visa.

Hello layiwola0001. You may apply again at any time, but if there is no material change in your circumstances, the result is likely to be the same.

Dear VO, during my Dropbox renewal I picked June as my intended date of travel. I have the visa now. Is it possible to travel before that date? Do I need to write a letter to the consulate about my decision to travel before the specified date? Thanks!
Re: U.S. Non-immigrant Visas: We’re Listening by abujaniv: 1:33pm On Mar 14, 2017
Hello Believe13. The place to start is here:
http://www.ustraveldocs.com/ng/
It has step-by-step instructions on how to pay the application fee, fill out the application and schedule an appointment. It is best to do this yourself, as you are responsible for all the information contained in your application and interview. Mistakes made by an agent --be they on accident or through deception-- will reflect poorly on you.

Hello MrsM. It shouldn't be any problem. If you are asked about it at the border, just explain the circumstances.

Hello Believe13. We advise you to follow the instructions on the website we provided, and if you have additional questions, read some of this thread. If you do so, you will find that items like invitations letters are not required and will not be examined.

Hello yale001. You have to apply for a new visa, and you can not start that process until you hold a valid passport.

Hello House,
Just saw this page and can say it's very educative.
My experience with Vo in Abuja last year November was a mixed feelings. Although the experience was intense because we wanted to give our kids a life time experience, to sky deck, mileninum park e. T. C. Our neighbors always traveled during holidays and theirs kids will feed mine on all the beautiful places they've visited.

Unfortunately, they didn't give us, up till now my kids won't stop saying it. They are so obsessed with Disney channels, that they can't wait to visit.

Although, my husband younger sister is in USA, was surprised to read that it's unnecessary to get a letter of invite.

My question is, if at all we decided to give it a try, do we still request for the invite and also mentioned that we're living with her during our stay, cause that was her plans, or is it better to go for a hotel?

Hello eghosaaideyan. I'm sorry you had a disappointing experience at the Embassy. It's true that invitation letters are not required. Even if presented, in all likelihood, they will not be examined. Other countries have different processes, but with ours, we want to have a brief, open conversation with the applicant. The interview is the most important part, and honesty is paramount. The first hint of deception will end the interview very quickly.

We're not travel agents; we won't tell you where to stay. International travel can be very expensive, so it makes all the sense in the world to stay with family or friends, if possible, to conserve resources.

Hello favoured01. You must possess a passport valid for travel to the United States with a validity date at least six months beyond your intended period of stay in the United States.
