My brother it does not make sense. Abuja is not 1cm in Length or Breadth. There is no excuse for this absurd policy because as expansive as the land is, Government could have given Chopper Pilots coordinates that would take their route far away from Aso Rock and other sensitive buildings.

The truth is, for security reasons things can't just fly over Abuja airspace as it is the seat of power and it houses the president and the country's representatives.

Airplanes entering Abuja airspace apply for clearance. Airlines (including private jets) are vetted. Why not simply do the same for helicopter companies? The blanket ban simply makes no sense.

There is an extent to the knowledge we have individually, except of course one further develops himself.

Security clearances are always required to fly over airspaces, especially in capital cities. So, the directive is both apt and proactive.

You sound like you aren't a Nigerian. Seems you don't know how we abuse everything. How will they cope if they av like 20 choppers parading the sky all cos of the situation on ground. Do you even know the capacity of the airforce? Do you know if they've been overstretched?
Listen, you don't gamble on security. If you aren't capable don't pretend to.
Go back to the drawing board, re-equip and restrategise. If not, maintain the status quo and manage it effectively.

Does your excuse conform with what the government said? You're sick.

I have read the debates about whether this is a wise or stupid ban. In developed societies, they won't let it get so far as to completely stop flights to an international airport. it is the continued lack of planning and foresight that has plagued us for ages resulting in this situation. Why have they not thought to build a second runway all these years? If the runway was being maintained regularly, it shouldn't take that long to fix it. Other countries resurface runways overnight and if they need to close it completely for a short period, aircrafts use the alternate runways.

Why can't helicopters shuttle people from Kaduna and land somewhere near Abuja international airport, which is far away from the city? Afterall, aircrafts fly near sensitive sites in Developed countries. Countless number of planes fly over London to land at Heathrow and London City airport and yet there is Downing Street and Buckingham palace just below the aircrafts.
