No one enjoys having to go to work in the mornings, especially if they have a commute from hell.

And that's precisely what these are.

Traffic jams and road congestion is something that everybody has to deal with either daily or at some point in their life.

Whether you are going to work, or coming back home, catching a train, making the school trip to drop off the kids, doing some shopping, travelling or simply trying to commute to work, busy roads can be incredibly frustrating.

100 people on a bus or train thats meant for 20 or sitting in your car and moving along as a snail’s pace is something that nobody enjoys.

However, over the past decade or so the problem has grown much worse.

A bigger distribution of wealth and cheaper cars mean that more people can afford to own a vehicle and with roads rarely being expanded or improved, they can’t keep up with the growth.

The problem is even worse in developing countries where until a few years ago, only the very wealthy could afford to drive.

Coupled with occasional treacherous storm or natural disaster, this has led to some truly incredible traffic jams that have caused more than a slight delay.

They leave home as early as 4:00am and get to work late after 8:00am.

In Nigeria, locals refer to traffic jams as "go-slows," and they are said to occur at any given moment throughout the day.

The 33-year-old, of Dhaka city, Bangladesh, explains:

'It is busiest on the trains in the mornings and evenings when people are coming into the city to work or leaving to go home.

'Those who fail to get a place inside the train end up climbing onto the roof or holding onto the sides and fronts of the train.'

In London, commuters struggle to get into the Underground at Oxford Circus on a normal day.

Many Londoners trek across the London Bridge as part of their commute, especially if they work in the financial sector.

Train stations in Japan actually hire staff whose sole job is to push commuters onto the trains and close the door afterwards.

At 21 million people, Lagos has become Africa's largest city. It was only 1.4 million in 1970, so as you might imagine, traffic is rough.
