This is pure gibberish.

You are talking unrefined shi't.

Nothing here is of any use: if anything you have just affirmed exactly what I said earlier: to wit: saying what God cannot be, is already defining God. I said that earlier, perhaps you did not read it. And yet you defined what God cannot be in your revert to Joshthefirst.

Rather than waiting for praise-singers to assist you before you coyly come about to say "thank you" to them, why don't you just stop menstruating already and man up to the real points? ? ?

You are a clown.

Thank you for the insults. Perhaps you ought to read the post one more time, and then again, one more once. ruminate on it. In fact sleep on it, and then answer tomorrow morning.
Bless you.

Oh not at all. I actually regard the generality of women as superior beings to the generality of men.

Saying something is girly is not chauvinism. To read romance novels, or wear flowers is girly. To play around outdoors in the mud is boyish. Neither is a discriminatory statement. I could say an adult is behaving like a little boy or little girl. That is not sexist.

Please do not taint me with the brush of misogyny as I am anything but, infact I strongly resent misogynists.

And please do not become sanctimonious about any "insults". You have called me an id.iot many times and also recently too: I am not sure you saw me sulking about that.

I do not even mind of one disputes it: in fact debate is the life of the party: what I mind is someone saying that everyone should just shut up and keep quiet as nothing can ever be known. . . .

I do see where you're coming from, but don't you think you're giving mixed messages? You say a statement cannot be argued against logically, yet it can be debated?

The two positions taken together are meaningless. A lot of what you post, in most contexts, ends up being just as meaningless

Josh is the oga at the topest when it comes to such folly. And no, he does not extricate himself the way you do

So yes, you do have a point, but don't you think you stretch things a wee bit much at times

Come come oga, I'm sure you and the pastor can reach a middle ground here

Pardon if I caused you to misunderstand there, I only meant that I believe those statements to stand on firm logic. Of course anyone can present contrary views.

Okay.....Deepsight, since you are enjoying the show.....I would like for you to answer some questions that I have been dying to ask you from day 1.

1) As a deist, you are not much different from atheists asper the Nigerian mentality but then, why do you go out of your way to distance yourself from atheists?

2) What if you are wrong? What if your deistic God is just science fiction? Do you think any atheist here on nairaland is capable of convincing you that such is the truth?

3) Why the big grammar? I'm sure that you have travelled to either the UK or US or Canada. English speaking people do not care about big words....it is a Nigerian mentality that pushes people to use unnecessary big words.....the oyibo white man focuses on understanding rather that verbose flowery epistles.

PastorAIO, you might want to also answer the bold since you have known baba Deepardo for a long time. You know about the salad being the word and the word being the salad!

it's just style over substance, though it doesn't bother me as much as it bothers others. What bothers me is the absolute lack of substance in his post rather than the excessively flowery style.

Others are quite verbose but through that you can still get to grasp some points that they are making.

Not so with this fellow.

From the way I write, you should be able to tell that grammar and flowery diction are not a problem for me; the issue here is that Deepsight uses it unnecessarily.

LWKMD. The thing is that Deepsight can make sense at times. But some other times, I think he likes the sight of his own writing because no one understands some of his flowery epistles

The problem is that some people associate hi4lutin' language with depth. That in itself is a sure sign of shallowness.

1) As a deist, you are not much different from atheists asper the Nigerian mentality but then, why do you go out of your way to distance yourself from atheists?

Simple. Because I am not an atheist. Perhaps the distinction requires being stressed especially as all too many people in my day real life believe emphatically that I am an atheist. So bad that I was invited to speak as at atheist a a public forum on religious tolerance last year. So I need to make myself very clear on the point that I am not an atheist.

Atheism is illogical. The plain truth is that whatever one calls what is behind this reality, something is behind it. You may give it any name but it is not absurd to call it God.

2) What if you are wrong? What if your deistic God is just science fiction? Do you think any atheist here on nairaland is capable of convincing you that such is the truth?

Actually atheists generally do not seek to disprove the existence of God as they often contend that that is asking them to disprove a negative. They more often ask for proof which is funny to me because every passing heart beat is obvious proof already.

My belief in God is not science fiction it is rather philosophical logic as well as spiritual or super conscious cognition.

3) Why the big grammar? I'm sure that you have travelled to either the UK or US or Canada. There is no big grammar anywhere. That is your imagination.

And what if the thing behind this reality is just as frail as us? Why then should we call it "god"?

correct guy.

Nobody said that the world doesn't have an origin or substance beneath it. Not even most Atheists.

It is when nasty dishonest people start claiming to know the attributes of this Substance, and encouch it in terms derived from temporal human experience, and further more, they attack each other, go to war and commit mass genocide, all because of these concepts of theirs, that is when I cannot contain the feelings of nausea anymore. That is when I no longer hide contempt.

Such people do nothing but lie incessantly. shifting goal posts, lying and hurling insults baselessly just to push their daft agendas.

Well personally I believe that this world is a simulated reality and your body is the virtual reality visor and tool that you wear in this reality. Thus whatever is behind this reality may be a bunch of lab scientists on the other side once the visor is taken off. It may even be a casino. whatever. But I was referring to whatever is the ultimate source of any finite reality whatsoever. An ultimate reality.

How are you sure that the body is the 'visor'? Is the body and your experience of it not a part of the 'simulated reality'? Everything in this so called 'simulated reality' including our body, AND our sense of individuality, distinct person is subject to change. Thus 'taking of' the 'visor'/body has just as much effect on our experience as taking off our underwear. Why should you trust that what ever it is you see on after death is an ultimate reality? Why shouldn't the 'simulated reality' continue?

Furthermore, people don't have to die to get a sense of experiencing a deeper substrate to reality.

And a part of the mystical experiences that people have is a sense of identity not confined to the body but inclusive of the entire universe. A sense that I AM the entire universe.

The very Pulse of the universe reverberates through every single atom.
Therefore, the sense of individuality , the you, as Deepsight puts it, is simply the sum of experiences.

Probably does continue - on another level though

They dont have to, but they might go slightly cuckoo with real OBEs

Thank you. Perhaps my position may be better understood by those with learning difficulties if I stated it like this.

Superficially It appears like I'm saying that ' You can't say God XYZ'. But those that are gifted with incisive discernment will realise that I'm saying that 'God is just as much NOT-XYZ as he is XYZ'. Subsequently what is the point of saying 'God is XYZ'.
Terming and naming things doesn't just tell us what they are, they also tell us what they are not. That is the whole meaning of the word 'term'. A Term is something that has limits. A term could be a limited span of time. Or a term could refer to an object with boundaries and limits such as a shoe box. A shoe box is not also everything that is NOT a shoe box.

Language, words, and terms, are used and have evolved precisely to communicate facts about objects that have limits. They refer to terms. God is not a term. Yet one can say he also is a term. Thus we have paradox. Paradox for me is just where Logic and human reasoning meets ultimate realities.

Ultimately we are talking about where all dichotomies, either or, this or that, here or there, now or then, etc etc etc break down and are no longer workable.

On reflection I think I may see where you are coming from: but: does this imply that all discussion on God would be DOA.
In short, that no one may have a sensible discussion on the idea of God?
