Why didn't those same players make Tata Martino look good? Barca were successful because of him in from 08-12. Players like Messi, Xavi and Iniesta just made the success remarkable. He has even said it before that Messi made him the best coach, so he gives his players credit. It's not as if he's always seeking for all the glory.
