MrLP:You need to do a little research about taking a child who does not bear your name for holiday in U.S... I believe that will work in your favor. |

Daragurl12: Yes you can. You can check them in or carry them in your hand luggage. They are only against any form of liquids, yoghurt included. I know this because my son is a jollof rice lover and I always carry a small hot cooler of food for him 1 Like |

seyewest: Make very sure that it does not have job stuff or your CV on it! Also no political material and check facebook groups and contacts. If they look at it and find such things you can be on the next plain home! 1 Like |

This might be off thread here but does anyone have an answer for this? Naija passport expires May 17, Can someone travel to Naija on April 18 (green card holder) from the States and return first week of May(4th or 5th) and not have any problems both ways? Mind you that scarcity of passport booklets dey now both in Naija and the consulates and embassies. Thanks. |

dayleke: You should get an emergency travel certificate from the Nigerian embassy to travel home with. International law says that you can return to your home country with an expired passport but the criminals at Nigerian point of entry are likely to want something or they will delay you! You will not be allowed to board a flight to return to the USA with an expired passport. Whatever is required you must get a new one if you return to Nigeria! 9 Likes |

worry357: See? That's the problem I wanna avoid. The passport is not expired yet but when coming back first week of May,it will remain like 2weeks to expiration . And you know how pples for Naija be? Despite say trip originated from the states, they might still give you yawa.... |

Best thing is to book a flight going thru Abu Dhabi and go through your US Border pass thru there....it is better than coming straight to the US. On arrival, u will be treated like a Domestic passenger in the US. Questions asked are : how much you have to the US, How long are you staying which you will have to back up with your return booking. That's all you guys need. Be bold and sound convincing and you are good. No one will turn you back if you are genuine. |

I got into Chicago today as a first time Victor to the US. My POE story coming. Damn tired My POE experience. Point of Entry: Chiago The line was not quite a long one before 5 mins, I was in front of the officer CBP: Why are you here Me : To attend the bla bla conference CBP: What do you do? Me. Stated my position at place of work and went on to explain what we are into. Before I could even say much, he asked how long would I be staying and I said 2weeks CBP. : Place your fingers there and stamped me in for six months. All this did not take up to 2 mins. Went to collect my luggage which I could have easily carried as hand carry ooooo. Headed to the exit. One officer collected the white form and asked if there was anything my bag to declare. I said No and that was it. Walked into the cold Night of Chicago. Did the mistake of taking an Airport taxi. The bill to my hotel is still annoying me. 31 Likes 2 Shares |

Daragurl12:Cerelac and Milo are easily available in the US. I'll advise you not to travel with such since it may raise suspicions and put you under the microscope.#1 suspicion... drug trafficking. .. cocaine to be precise. @ topic..... routine questions as so many said.... if you begin to fumble for answers. .. you'll have problem...or if you're saying a different thing at the POE than what you said at the Visa office. From my experience.... they try to clear you as fast as they can. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Hello house, this is a great forum that address challenges in all sphere of travelling.Well done guys!!! Please I have some questions that I want this great house to answer. 1.The question being asked,is it from the DS-160 form we filled during application?Do they get to have access to our applications we filled? 2.Our destination is actually Washington DC base on what we filled in our ds-160 but we intend to fly through New York JFK,is that a good ideal? 3.Should our return ticket corresponds to the days we are spending there because we are booking a hotel to that effect. 4.We intend to book the cheapest flight, but which one is advisable to book at this time, hearing the various experience people terms to face at the POE?The cheapest is Turkish Airline. 5.How much can one hold for PTA for a family of 4(Husb,Wife,Kids 1yr & 3yrs).Can dollar ATM card substitute the cash aspect? 6.What kind of items should one not go with?I intend to go with my laptop and phones |

Petaocky: To be honest U.S is friendly country and we shouldn't turn it to another thing... You can take your laptop and phone. As for flying into JFK I hope you've paid for a flight out of JFK to Washington or booked a bus ride to Washington. Yes they will have access to all your info and also since you don't know anybody book hotel and make sure you confirmed the hotel book before leaving Nigeria. As for PTA hold as much as possible probably $5000 since you're traveling with your family. 1 Like 1 Share |
