Tradition... Freda giggled in excitement. She couldnt believe the joy that came with dressing her daughter up for her marriage. She had been a makeup artist herself in her youngin days so making her daughter up wasnt a tedious task. 'i really cant believe this daughter' She pouted, her hands on her waist 'its a shame you aint gonna be having a white wedding dear. You deserve it' Shiv resisted the temptation to snap : You actually denied me that opportunity, but she blinked it back. When did she start thinking her mother would ever try to do something to make her unhappy? She never thought like that before, what was happening? Maybe she had listened to Mia so much nowadays and her nonsense ideology about she being her mother's puppet was getting into her head. She paused. Was she really her mother's puppet? Hell no! What was she thinking? 'here's my present for you dear' Her mother said cheerfully handing a pink large box to her. Shivani looked at it excitedly. She loved recieving presents. It was something she had gotten used to as a child 'whats in there?' 'why not open it and see for yourself darling?' She slowly unwrapped the beautiful bowtie and opened the box. She gasped at what she saw. It was a beautiful peach colour lingerie 'mum!' She gasped. She raised her head to her mother who grinned from ear to ear 'mum, this is embarrassing!' 'what?' Her mother laughed throwing her head backward 'we are adults here Shiv and there's no need pretending like we dont know whats gonna get down between you two tonight. And for that, you need to look sexy enough' She winked. Shivani blushed 'mum...' 'now look at me pretty girl, i'm your mum alright? And i still remember buying you panties and bra as a kid, a teenager. So dont be shy okay? I aint a stranger. Look at me' She placed her left hand under her daughter's chin 'i'm so proud of you Shiv. You've always made me proud. Unlike your silly dumbass of a sister. Speaking about the no-good dumb sister of yours, where has she been all morning? Doesnt she realise we're all supposed to leave for the village soon? I'm going to her room right now and God help me that i find her still in bed. Only, God help me' Her mothed gnashed her teeth. Shiv knew Mia would still be in bed no doubt. And she knew there would be trouble if her mum found out about her drunken state last night. 'oh no mother. I saw her early this morning and you know, i invited some of my friends from the states and uh... I sent Mia to the airport to wait up for them. So they'll be coming to the village straight from the airport. So dont worry, we could go without her' She lied. 'oh, okay. Lemme get something from my room, place a call to the Lolo and then we move, alright my princess?' 'okay mama' Her mother flashed her another smile before leaving the room. No sooner had she left before Mia sneaked it, with red eyes, a bag underneath them and a swollen face. 'seriously Mia' Shiv said in a whisper 'why arent you prepared yet? You're still in your nightdress! You'd rather go prepare quickly before mum comes back here and sees you' 'well firstly thanks for covering up ma ass' Mia rolled her eyes, hands akimbo 'you really tried. And secondly, i wont be preparing because i aint going nowhere with you' 'huh? I dont understand' 'i'm not attending your damn marriage sis! You can go there and enjoy all you want' Shiv looked startled for a moment. Then she stood up 'firstly, mind your cussin' and secondly, speak with a certain level of politeness. Your tone is so impolite just incase you don' know. And secondly, what did you say? You aint coming along?' 'i believe you didnt have your ear blocked or something' Mia scoffed. 'are you really serious 'bout this Mia?' She asked after glaring at her for some seconds. 'does it look like i'm joking? Well, just incase you need clarity, i refuse to watch you fall into your doom with your own hands. If you feel marrying Dike is ideal, goodluck with that. But i wont sit and watch. I wish you goodluck in all your endeavours sis' She turned to leave. 'Mia wait' Shiv said feeling her eyes begin to water 'Mia you cant do this to me. This day is so important to me and i need you by my side. You cant turn your back against me now. You're important to me as well' Her voice became shaky as she felt the tears begin to fall. Mia turned around, a smirk on her face 'so now you know i'm important. Well too late Shiv, because mother's always been your number one priority. You fink its ideal obeying her right? Goooodlllucck with that! Muah' She blew her weeping sister a kiss and sashayed out of the room. Immediately she was out of earshot, she quickly placed a phone call 'Hello Florence dear...yeah, lets get this over with...Lets carry out the plan... Good, thanks. Bye' She hung up, a smug grin on her face. 'what plan are you talking about?' She practically froze when she heard her mother's voice. TBC 10 Likes |
