Ooni
AlAAfin
AwujAle
AlAke
OwA Obokun
Deji
Soun
AtAojA
Ewi
Timi

At least 5 of these re traditionally higher than Olubdan. Don't forget Ibdan Had what was equivalent of Baale until the 1920s or so.

Deji, Soun, Ataoja, Timi are all in Baale/Olubadan Ibadan's league.

Soun & Timi thrones are not traditional but founded as a result of Oyo's military kini (ran out of vocabs right now, pardon me).

Deji's throne was founded by Owa Atakumosa of Ilesa and for a while Deji throne was under the influence of Ilesa and I think Ijesa territories expanded towards that front.

Ataoja's throne is a recent throne whose relevance is solely derived from Osogbo being a state capital. In Yoruba history, Osogbo & Ataoja played a latent position in the scheme of things.

Is Alaafin in your list of first class due to Oyo's military power?

OP I will correct your list by removing and not adding.

The Oba of Lagos, Obi of Onitsha, dein of Agbor, Olu of Ibadan are not First Class kings as a matter of fact I have not heard of Dein of Agbor before no news seems to be coming out from there.

So are a number of monarchs in Yoruba land the public now hype but with no record equaling that of Ibadan. E.G: Eleko, Ataoja etc.

Well Yoruba Monarch such as Ooni and Alaafin have existed many years before the birth of Christ and are World recognized nobody knows your monarch in Benue and I doubt if his throne is half as Old as those two Yoruba kings.

Yes he is the only popular Monarch in the East but not First Class. I don't classify any monarch as First Class if they never controlled an Empire in the Old days.

Read up on history. The Igala and benin kingdom come into existence b4 the so called Alaafin.

Its actually a benin prince that first set up the oyo kingdom

Ok here it is;

The exiled Prince Ekaladerhan later became Izoduwa or Oduduwa the first Oni in uhe (ile ife). Oranmiyan, grand son of Oduduwa took up his abode in the palace built for him at Usama by the elders (now a coronation shrine). Soon after his arrival he married a beautiful lady, Erinmwinde, daughter of Osa-nego, was the ninth Enogie (Duke) of Ego, by whom he had a son. After some years residence here he called a meeting of the people and renounced his office, remarking that the country was a land of vexation, Ile-Ibinu (by which name the country was afterward known) and that only a child born, trained and educated in the arts and mysteries of the land could reign over the people. He caused his son born to him by Erinmwinde to be made King in his place, and returned to Yoruba land Ile-Ife. After some years in Ife, he left for Oyo, where he also left a son behind on leaving the place, and his son Ajaka ultimately became the first Alafin of Oyo of the present line, while Oranmiyan himself was reigning as Oni of Ife. Therefore, Oranmiyan of Ife, the father of Eweka I, the Oba of Benin, was also the father of Ajaka, the first Alafin of Oyo. Oni of Ife and Alafe of Oyo

.

Asides from the economy & social clout Lagos weilds, Oba of Lagos lacks any cultural relevance tohave been rated first class - except ofcourse the economy & social status of a state affects the class of a king?

Oba Eko is in the same class as Olugbo, Olubadan, Soun, Timi, Ataoja and any throne created or rests on the monarchical relevance or power of another throne & not triggered by cultural system.

----

Alaafin of Oyo throne is still occupied by the blood line of original Alaafin but a lot of things attached to that throne had gotten lost as a result of its migration from Oyo Ile to Ago Oja. Oyo derived its relevance from military expenditions which it never had over Ife throne (another history entirely). Oyo throne should not be classed ahead of Ife; if military might is the determining factor then Olubadan should be ranked before Alaafinas it is a known fact that Alaafin Oyo paid tributes to Baale (now Olubadan) Ibadan & was under Ibadan's military might till the colonial period.

---

Seeing Emir ranked before Sultan makes it obvious the compiler of this list is not a very bright person.

----

Bini throne is overrated.

The installation procession of a throne tells a lot about the historical relevance it holds. A quick look at the installation procession of the Bini throne and the reverence accorded to it by the Bini shows it is an exagerrated seat. Outside of Biniit commands no respect or influence & it has no lasting imprint anywhere outside Bini & few towns around it.

The Bini throne is in the class of Owa Ijesaland & monarchs in that league.

or maybe u don't no d oba of Benin is greater Dan ur alafin n ooni combine.... if u like go n die
