chudionu58:Lolz. All what I see in your post is just rants and more rants. You called this government a fraud, are you for real? If this government is a fraud then what should we call the party that spent $24b on power and couldn't give US constant 4,000MW let alone 40,000MW after 16 years of being at helm of power? |
Re: Daily Electricity Generation Update by PoolBuilder: 11:57am On Mar 17, 2017 |
realjoker: Sir , Can you prove this, can you give a break down of the 24 billion dollars, do not throw figures at random, such is the curse of the Nigerian existence, you did not answer or reply any of the concerns raised , just a unhinged reply....quoting absurd figures. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/09/power-obasanjo-yaradua-jonathan-spent-n2-74trn-in-16-years/ |

That is why i provided the Link, the Ministerial Budgetary Breakdown , release funds were included, which is what made the total 2.74 Tr Naira. Is all there on the Page. Now if you do a yearly breakdown , you would see that on Average 170 Billion Naira per annum was spent on Power in those 16 years. That expenditure gave over 6000MW installed capacity, some 330,132, 33 Kv transmission lines and more. The recurrent expenditure staff salaries, for NEPA PHCN ,was also inclusive In 2016 almost a 100 billion was devoted to power, without PHCN cost , yet we cannot point to any new capacity completed or not Another 702 Billion would be spent in the Next 3 years, The main concern is if those who spent 170 Billion /year failed, why would you make excuses for those who are budgeting to spend over 270 billion, should we not hold their feet to the Fire |
Re: Daily Electricity Generation Update by realjoker(m): 12:54pm On Mar 17, 2017 |
PoolBuilder: Thanks for this clarification, but what would you make out of this "Furthermore, Olotu revealed that contrary to popular belief, the National Integrated Power Projects, NIPPs, which gulped about $8.23 billion or N1.64 trillion were actually being funded from the Excess Crude Account, rather than from ministerial provisions." To my own understanding not only NIPP is into procurement of power installation and this post is talking about NIPP procurements as quoted above, There are ministerial provisions for power in every budget what happens to this provisions since the once of NIPP are not part of ministerial provisions?, NIPP was conceived in 2004 what happened to the unaccounted money spent 5 years before its establishment (since it predate NIPP existence)? And on not answering the questions the guy raised. The answers to his questions have been answered before, you can check my earlier posts and if you felt unsatisfied with my earlier answer you can ask your own questions I am always ready to attend to any of your concerns. |

PoolBuilder:Seems like we are on the same page, I am always ready to criticize the current government spending on power but not with people who refuse to agree that PDP failed woefully on power.. with the bolden statements, your #170b average spending has vindicated my $24b claim, you can't use an average of #200 to calculate the dollar term of money spent at a time when Dollar exchange for as low as #120. This is the exchange rate From 1999 - 2015 1 dollar to Naira 1999 21.89 (88-90 PM) 2000 85.98 (105.00 PM) 2001 99-106 (104-122 PM) 2002 109-113 (122-140 PM) 2003 114-127 (135-137 PM) 2004 127-130 2005 132-136 2006 128.50-131.80 2007 120-125 2008 115.50-120 2009 145-171 2010 148.21-154.8 2011 151.05-165.1 2012 155.09-161.5 2013 153.21-162.9 2014 170-199 2015 199-300 https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nigerian_naira And we can't yet say APC has failed when they are yet to completely execute their first year budget, NB: their first budget was signed in to law in April last year. |

Re: Daily Electricity Generation Update by PoolBuilder: 4:49pm On Mar 17, 2017 |
OK , lets play ,....Its friday , There is time to end debates and wrong info, the average 170 Bn per year was to enable straight line comparison not to validate ignorance, if you paid more attention you would have noticed that converting the NIPP money at the exchange of the times of contracts would give lesser amounts. But you saw its as a justification of ignorance and that is the pity, i have done dollar conversion of a majority of the disbursed expenditure on power, using a blended average of the exchange rates you provided and the figures from the Senate hearing link. I have left some for you to do , so we can be on similar wavelength and banish false date to limbo. The budgetary expenditure in brackets, dollar equivalent after equals sign realjoker: Running totals for Budgetary expenditure $7.2 Bn + $8.23 (NIPP) + $ 1Bn Interventions i am quite sure it is less than $24Bn except if you like inflating and jokes, no one is saying APC has failed, not at all but we are all wary of false hopes, false figures, which is why we should put their foot to the flame. PDP failure should not be an excuse for an APC non performance. 1 Like |

PoolBuilder: Probe Obasanjo’s $16b Spending On Electricity, SERAP Tells Chief Justice of Nigeria http://saharareporters.com/2016/11/24/probe-obasanjo’s-16b-spending-electricity-serap-tells-chief-justice-nigeria This is SERAP calling for the investigation of the $16 bn allegedly spent on power by OBJ lead government alone. Let both agree with your(our) calculation $7.2 Bn + $8.23 (NIPP) + $ 1Bn = $16.43 bn, tell me if there is any justification for this amount spent on power by PDP lead FG government infrastructure wise or performance wise? NB: put this into consideration Kanji, shiroro, Jebba hydroelectric and Egbin, Sapele phase 1 and 2, Ughelli(now Transcorp power) , afam 4 gas power plants existence predate PDP government and Ibom power plant is owned by Akwa ibom state government. I am not on the defensive side of the current APC lead FG government but sees no reasons yet to pull my full trigger of criticism on them base on some certain fundamental challenges. I clearly stated in my previous post that I am always ready to criticize the current APC lead FG government constructively. but not ready to engage myself in unproductive argument with people who are still intoxicated with PDP led FG regime. |

realjoker:Conveniently pretending there are no NIPPs done and dusted under the same PDP abi?? "I am always ready to criticize the current APC lead FG government constructively"; where exactly have you done that? Oh this government is holistically very effective! No basis for any criticism whatsoever. Now tell us the plants awarded and being executed by this "overly competent" government. |

Re: Daily Electricity Generation Update by chudionu58(f): 2:12pm On Mar 19, 2017 |

Not people that shouted change and corruption all over the place while they have nothing else than draw us backwards with their divisive politics and governance while they pay some idiots (rendered jobless by their incompetence) to sing their praises online.
