He is not the only one. Modern football is not age restricted. If you have had a storming tournament at the U17 World cup as a player. I do not believe you should wait for 1, 2, 3 even four years before playing regular first team football.

It doesn't have to be a top premiership team but at least a mid table EPL or championship team. There are too many 17 & 18 year old players making waves across Europes top leagues.

For this reason when I think of the pedigree Osimhen brought to the table and he has not played first team at Wolfsburg this is not progress. Unless he Osimhen is not as good as has been initially believed.

Considering that Wolfsburg is at the bottom end of the table facing relegation. And he Osimhen has not played one game it's very worrying and then shockingly invited to National team, on what basis.

I would say Tega Abraham is very far ahead over a lot of these guys. 20 goals in the championship is not an easy achievement and in a poor performing team.

Sone have suggested U20 for him in Nigeria that's an insult. If Rashford can play for England then why can't Tega for Nigeria. If you are good enough you are old enough.

For Osimhen, he was officially signed in January during the winter break and got injured soon after. He is still out injured. Too early to say for him.

Even more shocking that means he has not played any games to make deductions about his ability currently. So we invited him on the basis of past youthful football glory even more ludicrous.

My point is that Musa would have made that John Obuh team even if he was still playing for Kano pillars.

Yes there's nothing wrong with Odeh playing for any of the under age teams if he's qualified. But which of our age grade teams is in play at the moment?

Musa was invited by Las Lagerback in the lead up to the world cup for camping, why not Stephen Odeh invited for an ordinary friendly?

The same Rohr who invited two homebased players in the world cup qualifiers against Zambia in Chisom and Obaje who were the inform hit men in the NPFL. A few months down the line the same manager didn't didnt bother inviting Stephen for a small matter of friendly games against African teams.
Seriously, Odeh has a strong case here if we are being fair.

Do you know if he was pleased with their performance in training?

Don't you think those two did not measure up in camp and so the coaching lost confidence in the other home based players?

He is playing in low rated team facing a relegation battle without world class players in front of him blocking his progression.

Arsenal and Wolfsburg no be mate.

Wolfsburg is an underperforming team right now but they are not a small club. Do u even know any Wolfsburg players?

We only had 7 foreign based players in that team to the U20 world cup. The rest were homebased and unattached. Saying Musa made that team because he was foreign based is not true.

You see, you are quoting me out of context.
He already did well in the NPFL by breaking the league record, so why would such a player not be invited to the U20 team even if he remained in the local league.

My point is Musa featuring in the WYC gave him the full break-in into the Super Eagles.

Iwobi played his first game in the premiership for Arsenal on October 31st 2015. Essentially he had never played first team football before he played for the Senior Eagles as a full international.

I disagree. Wolfsburg saw enough in training and friendlies to sign him to a professional deal and make him one of the three strikers in the first team.

That's too extreme. Its just like saying if Anderson Etisi doesn't measure up in Camp. Rohr will loose confidence inviting players from Belgium.

@bolded is not true. He was invited to the National team in 2010 for the 2010 World Cup but was forced out due to injury.

He even played in one the Africa cup of Nation qualifiers before he kicked a ball in Europe.

The was way back before the WYC.

I no talk say make dem dash home based players quota ooo. grin

If Esiti did not impress.. Simon Moses might have impressed.. Rohr has seen some highly rated home based players up-close but Jamiu Alimi looked like the only one who impressed him after the first camp (among the outfield players) and even him was not invited for the friendlies.

I wish, we had an under 20 team going to the world cup. It would have been the perfect opportunity to test Udeh to know if he is the real deal.

Nigeria should have a standing under 20/23 team that plays friendlies during FIFA breaks regardless of whether there is a tournament coming. A team that can be a conduit for the super eagles.

All of the prospects in the league and abroad should make up this team. We will then see those that are true quality.

I've seen Kano pillars play this seaon a couple of times. I didn't see Jamiu Alimi. In his place, Chinedu Udoji held sway. Could be he's injured or he's out of the country.

Let's not resort to allusions to pursue vague speculations otherwise, it could just stick by hook or by crook.
It was never reported obaje AND Chisom weren't up for it in training when Rohr invited them. Am very sure Chisom made the final 18 man match day squad against Zambia. Rohrs excuse which was a valid one for not inviting them for the Algerian game was that the league was on break.
Please, let's not over speculate.

But which team in the world does this? Using an U20/23 for international friendlies?

The 18 against Zambia were as follows:

Carl Ikeme, John Obi Mikel, Wilfred Ndidi, Elderson Echiejile, William Troost-Ekong, Kenneth Omeruo,Alex Iwobi, Moses Simon, Ogenyi Onazi, Brown Ideye, Kelechi Iheanacho.

Substitutes include: Muhammed, Musa, Abdullahi,Esiti, Igiebor, Alimi and Ezenwa.

Only Alimi made the team amongst the outfield home-boys.

European teams play friendlies with their under 20 or under 19 teams. We will just play against other under 20 teams.

Only 18 will be in the match squad

This is where you misunderstand me.. I gain no pleasure from saying the league players are playing at a low level. I want our league to be the most competitive in Africa but it isn't. We have a long way to go.

Again, it does not mean that there are no talents but i have been disappointed enough times to know that not all that shine in the Nigerian league can play at a higher level. In fact, most don't carry that form to the next level.

From defenders: No 2, 13 and 3 look legit

From forwards: No 11, DEFINITELY 16 or less, number 9 and number 18 also look legit

From goalkeepers: No 1 is Definitely 17 at most, number 21, can't vouch for him

From mid fielders: numbers 16 and 20 pure, the rest, I can't say

Surely that can't be because of lack of talent. We can analyse and dissect this very topic. We can even open a thread for this. Am open to this particular discussion. Much better than the campaign of calumny you were on earlier.

It is the same point, i have been making over and over again but you would rather think, i have something against Chisom because i mentioned his name a few times.

There is no campaign of calumny against any one or even against the league.

You would not have to think that if you were reading carefully.

The only way forward is for the government to take their hands off the management and ownership of clubs in Nigeria and allow the private sectors take over, then we go see shumthing.

The other day, Nairabet owner wanted to buy 3SC but Oyo state government refused. Why?

But the club is going through a lot of financial problems.
