The Fed Govt. has let things slide in the past by allowing speculators control the Naira exchange rates. For example, 3 weeks ago the value of dollar was skyrocketing from N480 zoom to 500 and 510, allowing speculators control the Forex in Nigeria has always been a wrong thing to do due to poor economic policies.

The current move by the CBN is long overdue and it is here to stay with all things being equal. The absence of Mr President gave room for trial of other monetary policy options, he came back from the UK and saw his deputy has been taking all the glory. Thereby, he supported the move to flood the Black market and take the glory too.

The exchange rate we experienced in the last couple of weeks was never a true representation of the true value of the USD. In fact, what we have seen in the last few months was currency manipulation. It happens in non developed countries whereby a group of money men gang up to frustrate all the efforts of the federal government. It isn't successful in Nigeria because we still have sources to earn Forex and the government is well aware of the severity of the problem even though it doesn't have a permanent solution.

Lastly, hoarders of Forex should start drinking garri and groundnut cos hunger is just around the corner. Expect major reductions in all electronic currencies.

I suggest we quit bickering and enjoy the naira appreciation while it lasts.

Something just made me to look at the date which this thread was opened. JULY 2016, shortly after the naira depreciation started. Dollar was scarce, Naira was depreciating, people needed other avenues to get cheap dollars. This thread was created basically to connect buyers and sellers.

But with the current exchange rate, this thread might just have served its purpose. More banks may soon resume dollar transactions with their cards. Current limits on bank cards may soon be lifted or raised.
