omenkaLives: i think the shame should be yours, because the the so called 'checks' you did must have been sub-par like your thinking process... History of the Department of Geography at ABU ZARIA The Department of Geography, Ahmadu Bello University started on September 26th 1962 using the classrooms formerly used in teaching ‘A’ Level Geography at the Nigerian College of Arts, Science and Technology. The first two lecturers were M.B. Thorp and M. Mortimore from Liverpool and Leeds respectively. Prof H.A. Moisley joined the Department as the first Professor of Geography in 1963 from the University of Glasgow and was later joined by P.N. Hore as a Senior Lecturer with a Ph.D from the University of London. By the time the first class of undergraduates moved into part III of the degree programme in October 1964, there were four academic staff in the department. The staff strength has grown to 26 academic staff, 6 technologists, 3 library staff, 7 secretarial staff and a driver. The Departmental Library is the largest Geography Departmental Library in the country. The Department also has a comprehensive map Library. Staff-Student relation is friendly and undergraduates run the socially and academically active National Association of Geography Students (NAGS), A.B.U Chapter. Geography Department was under the Faculty of arts and Social Sciences offering the degree of B.A (Honours) and B.Sc (Honours) in geography respectively. Presently, the department is under the Faculty Science offering only B.Sc in Geography. Apart from the undergraduate degree, the department offers Postgraduate Diplomas in GIS and Rural Development respectively and Masters of Science in Geography, GIS, Transport Management, Population and Demographic studies, Rural Development and Environmental Management respectively. We also offer Ph.D in Geography and Rural Development. These courses have made the Department a haven of postgraduate students that are eager to attain the training and have been tremendously relevant in all spheres of their endeavours. 1 Like |

Someone said to whom brain is given sense is required. Because talk is cheap some people have displayed their ignorance by saying Geography can never be under Faculty of Art. But this https://geography.abu.edu.ng/About/history.html answer their ignorance. ABU is not obliged to respond to public Enquiries on whether or not Dino graduated from the school. A panel is already carrying out an investigation on the matter, i believe if ABU is required to provide details about him they will gladly do so. |

B.A in Geography, Abeg o except you didn't attend a university. Please no tell us say ogogoro and water Na the same. Why a statement of result after all these years, se ABU no dey issue certificate. Why is it taking the school eternity to come out with a statement on this. The senator Dino I know with all his aggression and arrogance would by now have brought down hell on the ABU for keeping mute if he truly graduated. The senator can even publish the page where his name appeared on the convocation brochure together with his classmates. The annoying thing is that nothing will happen at the end of the day. Afterall, padding is not a crime . |

Dino Melaiye or whatever he calls himself is a rogue. Around 2008 when he was a member of fed. house of rep., and a matter arose on the issue of motor vehicle purchase for house members, it was Dino who went on air to counter Festus Keyamo who brought a case of inflating the cost of each vehicle from #4.1m to #6.4m against the house, to defend the house on this fraudulent act perpetrated on the purchase of the 380 vehicles. In no time from this period after he went for this shameful defence in which they disgraced Keyamo, calling him names, there started troubles between he with 10 others and the Speaker Bankole with all other members. This resulted to physical combat on the house floor and it was this same Dino who ran to Farida Waziri, the then EFCC Chairman, that it was true they committed the offence Keyamo brought against them. Someone like this, how do we think he has not been living fake lives all his life? He is an empty barrel who always makes the loudest noise. |
