Icon4s:I wanted to point this out. Because in 99 he was just 19. In 98 when he was registered by Standard Liege he should be 18. |

forgiveness: Iwobi was not impossing enough on the game. The only other player on the bench from the match day list that can play that position was Etebo plus Etebo has the ability to find the back of the net even from the unlikeliest of chances. Besides, the jet lag issue is just a probability. It may or may nt have affected him. So why not throw Etebo in when u depirately needed that goal. 3 Likes |

TheSuperNerd: I just do not get why Nigerians don't see anything wrong in not working on set pieces. Although i cannot blame them for the foul that led to the goal, Athletico were well skilled in the dark arts and just hunted fouls in our half. Overal these boys did very well, I left very happy with what i saw. I hope the clubs involved understand that they have gems on their hands and handle them with care. 1 Like |

goldfish80: Me said Yobo started as a striker. I never did. I did not even know that. I knew Yobo as a defender in Nigeria 99. Thought he played right back. Did not know Yobo until Nigeria 99. I used to have the catalogue list of all the players of Nigeria 99. The local ones sold on the roads then. |

Mickael2:smiles...you're one of the culprits because if u were the only one..I would have make mention of u...I have been following this thread since it's creation and before u joined.... I vividly say you don't like onazi... you've never praised for any good performance but swift to point out his faults. I read here how u criticise him during his play at uyo world cup qualifiers against Algeria... u even blame him fr that goal |

goldfish80: Telling Etebo or Mikel to play Attacking midfield is a far cry from telling Leon Balogun to play number nine. |

SharpJoe:Yobo did not start his career as a defender. He was converted and further developed to the defender we all knew.hia elder brother was an out and out defender. He played for Rangers at a point. The last I heard about him, he was in Austria or Switzerland I think. |

goldfish80: What I was talking about was that he was not a striker for the Flying Eagles. I was not arguing whether he was a striker before. I do not know his history before Nigeria 99. |

SharpJoe: For all that they share in common there is of course one major difference. While Yobo’s undoubted talent is admired due to his consistency for both club andcountry despite playing as a right back and an attacking midfielder in his international career, his elegance made it look like he found even the toughest of tasks easy. http://m.goal.com/s/en-ng/news/4082/comment/2013/05/24/3996918/whos-the-greatest-yobo-v-keshi Like I said, we learn everyday. |

Tactics...... tactics .... counter tactics.... this is how a team wins trophies.... talent is never enough. Like you said, Atletico were versed in the dark tactical arts of drawing fouls and playing on the eagerness of our boys to get the ball quickly.... this worked against us no doubt. The Atletico coach knows he was up against a better team skillwise so he had to apply wickedly dark tactics.... they made good use of their heights too I suppose... (just saying because I saw some of their games and even their semi win over bidvest). Anyway.... I am happy with the performance of the boys shaa.... they did well. When I remember they also dispatched Torino of Italy... then I say we have some fine young talents on our hands here... I hope The LMC and NFF and clubs involved, just as you have suggested, combine to build on this and continue the nurturing of these kids alongside discovering even more. Thanks for all the updates Sir Basco. BascoVanVeli: 1 Like |

Mickael2: His position chances according to the coach tactics. He was registered as an attacking midfielder. Na me tell you sa em dey play as AMF in the academy, the main reason he was drafted into the main team. |
