pyrex23: I agree with you. How many would prefer Dele Alli to Mikel as our Creative Midfield player at the last Olympics? How many think Alli would play a more instrumental role than Mikel at the AFCON as Mikel did? Mikel just played a conservative role at club level and most people that play a creative role are rated higher. Based on quality, Mikel is better than most of them. Even Alli. 3 Likes |

Real Reason NIGERIA VS Burkina Faso-was CALLED OFF!!! The Super Eagles of Nigeria proposed friendly game against Burkina Faso earlier planned for Monday in London won’t be taking place due to issues surrounding FIFA regulations on travelling distance for friendly games. FIFA rules states that matches across two continents can only be played after a four days interval, and Burkina Faso were in action against Morocco in Marrakesh on Friday. Burkina Faso were beaten 2-0 by the Moroccans, a day after Nigeria’s 1-1 draw against Senegal at The Hive, but the tie fell short of FIFA regulations on time interval for friendly games across two continents. The earliest they would have taken on Nigeria should have been Wednesday, but organisers of the Friendly game fixed the game for Monday to allow European based players return to their respective teams on time for weekend games. Already players of the Super Eagles who are yet to arrive London have been informed about the development, although the NFF are making alternate plans to see if a game can be organised with a local team in London. *Michael James reporting from London 1 Like |

SharpJoe: He played as an attacking midfielder, I could be excused to mistake him for a striker or a second striker. Its been 18 years and I could still remember he didn't start as a defender unlike you. |

goldfish80: In short, you do not know. You did not know he was already a defender in a professional club in Europe. It is long ago and it is understandable. |

SharpJoe: While Yobo’s undoubted talent is admired due to his consistency for both club and country despite playing as a right back and an attacking midfielder in his international career, his elegance made it look like he found even the toughest of tasks easy. http://m.goal.com/s/en-ng/news/4082/comment/2013/05/24/3996918/whos-the-greatest-yobo-v-keshi That's an independent article where the writer wrote about Yobo. There are no straws here. Be grateful you learnt something new today. In another fora you will sound in the know when you say Yobo didn't start out as a defender. |

goldfish80: It has been 18 years, yet you want to argue with someone who knows that in the game against Japan and Portugal, the Japanese wonder striker Takahara injured the Goalkeeper of the Portuguese team after Portugal made their last change. The referee refused to send Takahara off with a deserved red card and gave him a yellow. A Portuguese player wore the reserve Keepers jersey with Freetes written on it and performed brilliantly. The game went to penalties and one of P. Costa, the young brilliant Portuguese players was one of those who missed the penalty. |

goldfish80: Stop dribbling like Maradona on his best days. I said I did not know Yobo until Nigeria 99. I am not arguing whether he played that role. You can not always be correct. It is an honest mistake thinking Yobo was a striker in Nigeria '99. Just as people mistook Hashimu Garba to be Yaro Yaro. You did not know that Yobo was already a defender in a professional club before Nigeria '99. You can be excused. Do not drown yourself trying to be right in every comment you make. 1 Like |

goldfish80: Now that is a joke. I told you repeatedly that I did not know Yobo until Nigeria 99 unlike you that wants to pretend you saw Yobo play nine before he left the Shores of Naija. Another fantastic highlight of Nigeria '99 was the Cameroon vs Mali game where there was an impressive comeback for the Malians. With Mahammadu Dissa being the Hero of the night but Keita got repeated praise for his midfield mastery. I can even tell you that England had only one shot on target in the whole tournament from a header from Luke Chadwick who later joined Manchester United. 1 Like |

TheSuperNerd: The comparison lacks merit it don't make any sense Mikel is a DM and Dele is essentially an Attacking midfielder or plays as No.10. They are totally two different players. It's like comparing super car car to high powered SUV |

goldfish80: For your enjoyment. Dug this report for you. Cameroon: Coal City Miracle: Mali 5, Cameroun 4 Mali last night snatched victory out of the jaws of defeat when they fought spiritedly to beat Cameroun via a golden goal scored by Muhammadou Dissa in an explosive second round match played at the Nnamdi Azikwe stadium, Enugu. The tough match which produced a whopping nine goals was a reversal of fate for the Camerounians who had themselves to blame for throwing away a 3-1 goal lead midway into the second half. The Camerounians who boast of the potent striking duo of Komol Gaspand and Adissa Kioyo found themselves at the receiving end of the 'never-say-die' Malians who came back spiritedly to grab an equaliser off the sleaky play of substitute Muhammadou Dissa. The match, a reminiscent of the Saudi '89 Damman Miracle feat recorded by the Flying Eagles against the former Soviet Union saw the Camerounians already dreaming of a quarter final berth against Nigeria when the match at hand was not yet over by substituting the duo of Komol and Kioyo, but as fate would have it, the Malians stole the show when the Camerounian defence line ran out of steam late into the second half. http://allafrica.com/stories/199904160307.html |
