I hate hypocrisy and I am always quick to call it out.
It is Igbos that were demonized by the western nigeria controlled media after the war, A lot of devilish lie were created against the Igbo man, it brainwashed many to have distrust about Igbos.
Lets say the truth and stop romancing it.
Nigeria is divided today and mistrust of one another about because of the evil schemes of the media.

PHOTO: Look at this pics below, is that not a demonising stereotype being circulated by the media?

The way the Lagos - Ibadan press propaganda machine humiliated Igbos was painful.

They made it a popular statement that Igbos are corrupt and loves money and does rituals. Who does rituals now online? Yorubas!

Igbos should just clear their names being rubbished. We got the pen, we got the writers and let this country burn!

Why bother us. So because 20something Yorubas were arrested for unneccesarily slaughtering Hausas, every Yoruba who has a hand now resorts to writing essays.

Yorubas are On-Their-Own. Yorubas elected to refer to every non-yoruba southerner as Omo-igbo(recklessly disregarding the feelings of the nationalities), Yorubas elected to always show tribal solidarity by speaking his language to fellow Yorubas in a barbering of all when discretion should have been applied, Yorubas always talk about how they love themselves and dont care about others. They have overtime marketed themselves as the face of tribalism in Nigeria. So why complain when others treat you the way you treat them. Since you dnt care abt others, dont expet them to care about you.

Yoruba's got served with their own dish.
I mean, is it not yoruba people that spent decades creating stereotypes of other groups?

And did this guy just say Hausas weren't violent in the ile Ife crises?
Isn't this the cowardice we talked about?

Where was this writer when Yorubas were celebrating the killing of youth copers in the north after the 2011 election? The only reason they stopped celebrating is that the list of the names of the dead youth copers came out and Yoruba children made the list in huge numbers.

Where was this writer when recently an Igbo woman was beheaded in Kanu and Yorubas taunted igbos online but few months later, a Yoruba female preacher was mutilated in Abuja.

In fact there is a thread in nairaland that gives so many examples of this phenomenon and has exposed Yorubas two faced nature. I can go on and on with examples.

thanks 4 hitting them with fact.

I think we should be careful how we label things over generalization or stereotypes. Nobody is saying that Yoruba don't have their good attributes or that all of them exhibit all these vices you call stereotypes;no.
I will give you instances: why do you think oil companies prefer to have their head quarters in Abuja or Lagos, when the main resources of their business lie in the south-south? The answer is very simple: those guys( most of them in south-south) are very much prone to militancy. Period.
Why is it that most Pentecostal churches or other christian denominations tend to avoid the core northern states in their activities? Reason is the core northerners up there are more prone to religious intolerance and crisis than other regions. Very simple.
You don't have to lie over what is a known fact just to make a particular people feel good or to be seen as a detribalized Nigerian.
Let me tell you the truth: most people traveling for the first time to some southwestern states are warned severely about ritualism, and we see incidences of that occurring almost on daily bases.
And you call all these stereotypes?
... Let me burst your half-baked theory as per the bolded. Assuming that the yoruba or southwest region has been suffering the INJUSTICES and NEGLECT as done to the Niger Delta region as regards to oil exploration in their land, won't the yoruba or southwest region resorts to Militancy so as to air their grievances? Answer this question objectively. The OP has already advise you. First remove the speck in your eyes before offering to help others. Injustice to one person, group, tribe is an injustice to all. I have never had any ill feelings towards the Yoruba, as a group, but after that famous lagoon threat, the Igbos leave Lagos campaign, the xenophobic threat from the Yoruba doctor in the US, my eyes popped opened to reality. Late Awo starved more than two million Biafran kids to dearth, during the civil wars, an unfortunate events, instead of remorse, and respect for the dead, the Yorubas on this forum have used it time without numbers to mock the Biafrans. I can dig out posts with horror images you guys used to abuse and taunt us.
Go through any online forum and see the hates the Yorubas are daily dishing out against the Igbos. Antagonizing us for nothing. What we are doing here is to counter evil and nip it in the bud before it grows into a monster. The mistake of the past cannot be allowed to repeat itself.
Personally, I don't have any problem with a Yoruba fellow, after all they are humans like me, but her recent anti-freedom ideology and pro-Northern oligarch system sickens me.
When we complained against Buhari's lopped side appointment, and economic policies, on this forum, the Yorubas descended on the Igbos, without a single call of consciousness. However, time and event have proven us right. Even a Northern Governor has recently and publicly taken side with the truth.
What you serve others will eventually return back to you on a double-fold.
Time will tell if this country will remain one, if it does, only God knows how he will heal the wounds of the past.

I'm not sure you understood the main point of discussion here.
How would you know for sure if the SW people would resort to militancy if they faced similar situation like the South-south? They may very well decide to increase the rate of ritualism or 'agberoism' in their region,or find other ways to air their dissatisfaction; must it be militancy?
And your point is totally off tangent,by the way.
The SS may have their 'good' reasons for militancy, but it is what it is. And the effects(positive or negative) are there.

See. Yorubas are reaping what they sowed a long time ago.

An average Yoruba person sees Igbos as lovers of money, drug dealers and money ritualist even though Yoruba states have the highest record of ritual activities. Why so?
That's the lie Yoruba people sold to them.

Any person who doesn't support Buhari is automatically termed an IPOB or indigene or erosion bla bla.

The Yorubas.

Nigeria army killed many innocent protesters in South East.
Yoru brothers here celebrated their death and wished Nigeria soldiers could have killed more.
Because all Igbos according to them are miscreants and enemies of the state.

Yorubas are no different from South Africans, they just don't have the balls to start killing non indigenes anyhow.

... From the writer's article, I see a man who genuinely wants to right the wrongs of the past and ushered in a new order for inter tribal relationship and coexistence. Very good idea. However, telling a group of people, tribe that suffers injustice, neglect, and untold hardship to quickly "MOVE ON" from the genocidal events of 1967 as if nothing happened, is to say the least most wicked, hypocritical, asinine, barbaric and devilish.

Let me Kindly remind the author that even up to date that the Jews and the world powers are yet to forget in a hurry the menace of the Jewish holocaust. Same goes with slavery antecedents, world War 1and 2.What sane countries does is to remember and apologized for the past.

Just keep quiet!! I hate it when people try to deceive and bamboozle others with semantics laced with half-truth. The questions you asked but cleverly avoided or answered half-heartedly are:

Why are the Yorubas demonized? Are they indeed lazy, dirty, lousy and promiscuous, like the other tribes say? Are they indeed cowards, ironically malicious, as it were? Are they genetically, innately and inevitably Judases?

I'll try to answer these questions without being politically correct and anyone who has a contrary answer should present facts like I'm going to do.

"Why are the Yorubas demonized?

People are DEMONIZED when they become demons. There cannot be any witch hunting unless there are witches to hunt.... Potato potates, hello!!

Are they indeed lazy, dirty, lousy and promiscuous, like the other tribes say?

Goodness me! Look around you man. Agberoism have been legalized in Yoruba land because they are too lazy to work - Yes, Yorubas are lazy.

Iya Sukura selling food close to an open gutter while using a foam torn out from her mattress at home to clean used plates. Jeez!! What could be more dirty than that?

Yes Yorubas are Lousy a.f and highly promiscuous. Just go to Idumota or any mechanic workshop after dark and see what grown-ass men and women are doing.

Are they indeed cowards, ironically malicious, as it were? Are they genetically, innately and inevitably Judases?"

Cowards? Mtschweee... Abeg commot for road jor.

Malicious? OK let's take today's driver who Saraki employed to haul his SUV to Abuja, not only is he testifying against Saraki in open court, he has also indicted many other dignitaries whom he has helped transport their vehicles. That's how Malicious a typical Yoruba man can get.

What do you mean by innately and inevitably Judases? Don't try to bamboozle us with semantics please, just call it what it is - TREACHERY. The question should be:

ARE YORUBAS GENETICALLY, INNATELY AND INEVITABLY TREACHEROUS? Yes Yes Yes.

Anyone who wants to argue otherwise should provide proof. I'll quickly site a recent example.
No tribe has professed the kind of love they have for Buhari like the Yorubas but as soon as Buhari fell sick, the SW didn't waste any time to start laundering Osunbade's image, every positive achievement was awarded to Osunbade while all the failures was Buharis, telling us how Buhari was a failure and Osinbade is a better democrat. I couldn't believe what I was seeing with my eyes. There was celebration everywhere. Dele Momodu was firing from all cylinders. Tinubu even relocated to Abuja, rolled his sleeves, ready to pounce on the national cake. Who cares about Buhari anyway? It was unbelievable.

An elderly Yoruba man even told me openly that it is the hand of God. Hand of God? Terrible.

I tried very hard to read till the last, even though I was appalled from the second paragraph. All I could see was excuses, politically correct statements and diversionary gimmicks to seduce the non-Yorubas to lose their guard and open up for a quick back stab from an anonymous Yoruba man.

Majority of Nigerians are core hypocrites, smiling while harbouring deep hatred within, at least we thank God we still learn to live together in "tense peace" in a place like Lagos in a bid to appear decent. But not to worry, your chance to show just how much you hate others might present itself soon enough, be sure to grab it with both hands. #gutted

You're greatly mistaken to have accused me of resulting to semantics and half-truths.

Also, I could see you went a great length trying to answer those questions in the affirmative, since I have, from your accusation, failed to answer them. But what does it change?

Let me play along for a moment: Yes, the Yorubas are truly all these, while the Igbos are not even guilty of any of these. What sanctimonious innocence that you arrogated holiness to your tribe and condemned another as filthy sinners!

I wouldn't be drawn to such tribal mudslinging: there is absolutely no way I could have answered the questions without resulting to it.

So instead of using argument and counter-argument, proving and disproving methods that all lead only to the labyrinth of hate and stereotyping, I rather went straight to the root of the matter, and avoided the irrelevances. Yes that is what they are!

Lest I forget, hope your ego has been massaged by "factually" proving that the Yorubas are all these?

This is the mistake some of you make. Just look at you, your guards are down already, you think he's a reasonable person and you're ready to compromise a little, forgetting that an Afonja will always Afonjate. This was someone who absorbed his tribe of all evil doings and treachery against other Nigerian tribes while asking Igbos to "MOVE ON" after losing 3 million people. Let me tell you something reasonable. No Yoruba man is reasonable, educated or otherwise, not even their Obas.

No matter how sweet an afonja sound, never ever let your guard down when you're dealing with him. Always see beyond his veil and don't stop hitting him hard until he's down completely. I've warned you, stay focused.

What a deceitful human being! Yoruba talk too much and Igbos are innocent bystanders? Like the previous poster said, it is futile arguing back and forth with people like you.
Your name calling and hate doesn't change anything, Yorubas owe you no apologies about the civil war or anything for that matter.
Why should anyone even care? If you hate that is your cup of tea.

This is the mistake some of you make. Just look at you, your guards are down already, you think he's a reasonable person and you're ready to compromise a little, forgetting that an Afonja will always Afonjate. This was someone who absorbed Yorubas of all their evil doings and treachery against other Nigerian tribes while asking the Igbos to "MOVE ON" after losing 3 million people. Let me tell you something reasonable. No Yoruba man is reasonable, educated or otherwise, not even their Obas.

No matter how sweet an afonja sound, never ever let your guard down when you're dealing with him. Always see beyond his veil and don't stop hitting him until he's down completely. I've warned you, stay focused.

Is anyone trying to compromise with you? Are Yorubas begging you to like them? How can Yoruba be responsible for a war declared by Biafrans?
A lot of you ignorantly refer to a speech given by Awolowo to the western region house of assembly as the evidence of his support for Ojukwu"s foolishness ! How foolish can that be?
Let those of you who enjoy the slurs continue to dish it out, it doesn't change anything really except a few more biafran haters you will pick up along the way.

Absolutely. Everyday we are inundated with different threads from Yorubas asking us to forget the past and forge a new path for the love of "one Nigeria". Unlike this thread, others were quite straight forward with their demand but trust Yorubas to play their narcissistic hand (I'll be damned if i qualify Yorubas as narcissists, narcissism is for the intelligent. Yorubas are just plain selfish and self centred all-around jerks)

Who cares about Awolowo? He's gone bro. He died at the unforgiving hands of Okafor-Wonders home made rat poison.
