MTN 4G LTE - The Biggest Scam Of The Century by beautycrush24(f): 12:04pm On Mar 28, 2017
The rate at which these telecom companies exploit us is becoming really frustrating. And to think they'll keep doing it because we always decide to keep quiet is more annoying. So today I've decided not to keep quiet like I always do but to call them out instead. I'll be fulfilled if this message saves only 1 person from this scam.

I bought the MTN 4G LTE mifi on the 13th of this month for 20k and according to them, it came with 20GB (imaginary 20GB in my opinion). Network was bad so they weren't able to activate it till d next day which is 14th. I started using it and got a message on the 21st that my data had been exhausted. You can imagine my shock. 20GB in 1 week? What was I browsing. Prior to this time, I was using at most 7GB monthly. I subscribe regularly cos I work online so I can accurately estimate how much data I consume monthly.

Anyways, I overlooked it since it was 'free' data and decided to subscribe the 10GB data plan which costs 5k. I did that on the 22nd of this month and was given 25k bonus airtime that can be used to browse. Imagine my shock when I got notified yesterday, march 27th, that both 10GB and 25k have been exhausted. HUH!!! In 5 days? Just put a gun to my head already.

So these thieves are trying to say in 13days, I used up 30GB and 25k just for browsing WITHOUT DOWNLOADING!!! I decided to call customer care. The first mumu I spoke to was giving me wrong date so I knew he didn't know his job well. I decided to call again hoping someone else will pick. A lady picked and after my explanation, she told me from what she can see, I've been browsing heavily. Just imagine. Like I don't know what heavy browsing means? When I tried to argue her explanation, she hung up on me. So much for customer service. She's lucky I didn't get her name. I wonder if they really screen these people before employing them.

I am writing this to warn those who plan to buy the MTN 4G LTE mifi to think twice before taking that step. I have lost 25k to these rich thieves which might be nothing to some of you but it's my sweat and I decided to rant about it. Enough of all this scam already. Thanks for reading.

Same goes for me but not the data, the credit bonus when one loads. I loaded 10k credit to subscribe and got about 15k credit bonus only for the bonus to disappear after two days.

Nobody hacked it. I stay alone, I have a secure password and I never take it out since I'm indoors most of the time. Trust me, I'm not a novice when it comes to computers. I've turned off auto update and all of that. Those people are thieves. They know what they're doing.

After subscribing MTN wickedly first deducts from your bonus airtime if there is before they'll start to deduct from your data balance.
My inlaw says I'm stingy because after subscribing I won't browse until I have used all the bonus airtime to make calls.

I no longer complain through the customer care call cos they know it's between the 2 of you. Take to Twitter and if their reply isn't convincing, tag other bodies like NCC,CPC. But before then, please get your facts right by checking the data usage in your system within the period in question; screenshot where necessary.

Resolve it by refunding my data or telling me sorry like the other 2 people?

Since the bonus can be used for calling and browsing, I think it's possible that your browsing and calls will be deducted from the bonus until it's exhausted before they will touch your main data.

Kindly note the usage difference between "not true" and "I don't believe" going forward, no one has the time to come and start writing about MTN just for the fun of it.

I spent about 20 mins at an MTN store trying to upgrade my sim to 4g, subscribed for 3.5gb with 2k and I got the 10k imaginary airtime bonus. After browsing for less than 2 hours, I had a balance of 1.9 gb. I wasn't bothered tho, I felt maybe my system update was on (which wasn't).

Then I tried making a call off the bonus only to realise 10k airtime was gone. I called cc and they told me i browsed with 10k (plus 1.6 gb) in less than 2 hours. Told her to f**k off!!

While I understand that this issue is being resolved, I want to draw your attention to the logical debility in your assertion. If you occupy a critical position or ever get into one, DO NOT question the veracity of a complaint or term it "not true" without examining indepth the argument of the complainant. You could run into serious credibility issues. For a big business, the only thing worse than credibility issue is bankruptcy.

Nigerians should learn to speak out when they feel cheated. it'll go a long way in helping us get what is rightfully ours.
