With all the small boys in the Super Eagles, Mikel's experience is even more critical. Many players in the Super Eagles have not played professionally for up to 5 years. It is a very young team that would need leadership and guidance. Mikel, Onazi, Elderson, Balogun etc have to be leaders when times are tough.

my regret is that...we never discovered Leon balogun early enough... he should have been the deputy captain of the team...

I wonder why our players don't wear green and white arm bands when they are with their clubs. I look at stars from other countries and they are always representing their countries with their arm bands. No big deal but i'm sure it would boost them knowing they are also representing their country and it will also help the Nigerian fan base get behind them.
eddy onazi always play with a green white green arm bands

and the only game they lost with Messi was against Brazil. I have said it before, Aguero is overrated, don't get me started about Higuain. Di Maria is okay at times but in essence you only have Messi and Mascherano in that team, yet people think Messi is having it easy

How can you say one of the most consistent strikers in football is overrated? What is your idea of overrated. Season after season, Aguero scores consistently and scores special goals. Yet You say he is overrated.

Aguero has scored 115 Premier League goals in 172 matches. How can anyone say such a player is overrated?

I do not get it. I wish Mickael2 can tell me how Aguero is overrated. It seems performing consistently at a high level equals to overrating because that is the crime I see Aguero committed.

Even in the last two months in club football. Aguero remains one of the top performing players. Yet he keeps hammering Aguero is overrated.

seriously bro...we need strikers in the super eagles..he will be hard for us to get should he get establish in the Chelsea main team

English football is influenced unfairly by non football variables to a large extent. Protectionism means players can be protected from better players taking thier position.

Most club football recruitment directors are looking for the best players with the best deal for themselves not necessarily the club. Which takes priority the best deal or the best player is open to debate.

However, this means that there are quality players who have been overlooked or side stepped to make way for thier preferred players. This is an opportunity to get players before they become big news.

I have watched Onyedinma it's quite surprising he is still playing for League 1 Millwall. He started playing first team at 17 in the championship.

Onyedinma was being pursued by Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool when he was 16. Somehow politics has taken over. Unlike Tyrone this guy can cope with any kind of physicality Cameroon will throw at us. But needs to be capped asap I predict a premiership club will be making moves for him soon. This guy is considerably better than Lookman.

It's for the Nigeria official to be proactive in getting those players who are very good quality but not recognised and or unfairly treated. In a sense thier loss our gain, we should be discovering them before they are discovered by the big English clubs.

Nigerian winger, Nathan Tella, has confirmed that his transfer from Arsenal to Southampton is now in the bag, and has sent an emotional farewell message to the Gunners faithful and ex-teammates.

The 17-year-old decided to move on to pastures new after he was told by the Emirates outfit he won’t be offered a professional contract.

“After a great 10 years at Arsenal, sadly I have to move on to a new challenge. Thankyou everyone who has helped me over the past 10 years to make into the player I am,” Tella stated on Instagram.

“I will miss the boys and hope they all have a great career. However, I am delighted to sign with Southampton FC.

“Can’t wait to see what the future holds for me at this club. Thank you God for allowing me to achieve this goal, and also everyone who has supported me.”

Reading and Norwich City had explored the possibility of signing Tella before he agreed terms with The Saints.

Man City aim to maintain good position in EPL - Iheanacho

Manchester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho has fired a warning to their English Premier League (EPL) rivals Arsenal ahead of their encounter on Sunday.

The 20-year-old forward scored for Nigeria’s Super Eagles as they drew 1-1 with Senegal in an international friendly in London, England on Thursday night.

Iheanacho has now turned his focus back to the EPL and he will be facing his Super Eagles teammate Alex Iwobi’s club Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

“We are going to go to the Emirates and fight. We need a win there. It’s a good team, so we need to fight hard to get threepoints, “ Iheanacho told City’s official website.

“We are in a good situation. We played well against Liverpool and showed good character.

“We defend well, we attack well, but unfortunately we couldn’t win,” the Nigeria youth and senior international continued.

“We are in a good position (third place) in the Premier League, we keep fighting and focus on the next games.”

Iheanacho has made 16 league appearances for City, who are coached by Pep Guardiola, this season – netting four goals in the process.

I have study the English team closely and discovered that...exceptional players get capped before they clock 23.... and as a British with an African lineage...you have to be exceptional to cement your place in the 3 lions squad...

This comment doesn't sit well with me. You don't scout a football player and judge such a player with just one game. Saying Rohr will be around to watch an Mfm game and run the rule on Odeh is not standard practice to scout a player anywhere in the world. Will Rohr scout a player and judge him with one game if he was in charge of the German national team?
To truly scout in the real sense of scouting, a player should be watched at least within a time frame of 3 months with over 15 games of data to compute. Some clubs go as far as scouting a player over a 2 year period but with national team football 3-4 months is enough.
It takes hardwork, dedication and perseverance to scout a player. Most times the players scouted is not even aware he's been assessed.

If Rohr is coming just to watch a game which features Odeh to run the rule as you call it, is nothing but cosmetics.

YES.. we need to cap him quickly. Because once he start to shine for Chelsea, he go start to reason England senior team.

TheSuperNerd:
Chelsea boss Antonio Conte to give prolific young star a first-team role next season

The 19-year-old striker has been one of this season's biggest success stories from the Blues' now infamous loan system.
Abraham has scored a hugely impressive 22 goals in 40 appearances at Bristol City and broken into the England Under-21s set-up as well.

Chelsea have been heavily linked with a host of strikers as they prepare their plans for this summer's transfer window, with Everton's Romelu Lukaku tipped to rejoin the club.

But reports from Italy claim Conte's first piece of business will be to promote Abraham to his first-team ranks.

Calciomercato claim the ex-Juventus boss has been convinced to give the youngster a chance by his 'beautiful' goals in the Championship this term.

It is said that he will not be sent out on loan again next season and instead play a prominent role in Conte's Premier League plans.

Abraham made two top-flight appearances for Chelsea at the back end of last season, coming on as a late substitute in 1-1 draws against Liverpool and Leicester.

Actually Sir Icon79..... Twin moniker to the Lord Analyst and Arch Guardian elite... Chief Icon4s.... grin

I have to say that I believe Dele Alli will rake in many caps for England as even right now, He stands heads and shoulders above all English Midfielders in the CM and AM roles... #fact...

England may discover another gem in five years or three but for now... Dele is irreplaceable for England...

Icon79:
David Alaba was a big miss for the Super Eagles. But as per Dele, watch out as England drops him like a hot potato once he shows a small loss of form; then he'd realize what most of us (his elders) already knew. Do not say that I didn't warn him.

If Rohr is coming just to watch a game which features Odeh to run the rule as you call it, is nothing but cosmetics.

Rohr mentioned that he had received reports from the indigenous coaches who have been tasked to monitor the local scene. He is coming with the specific agenda to look at players shortlisted by the local coaches.

Sometimes, in the professional game, you have only one shot to impress. If an Arsenal scout for instance comes to watch a game in Nigeria and a player fails to impress, he will not be considered even if he just had a bad game. If a club is monitoring a player for two years,

1. He caught the eye with a first good impression.
2. A decision was then made to keep close tabs on him.

However, this is not the case here. Rohr already has reviews of the player and wants to have a closer look.
