I've always felt the Benin - Ore road is much more busier than Lagos - Ibadan road. It conveys all the traffic from the South and East. |

For those who dont know, the East-west road is a massive road that links all the oil producing areas of the south south together and also gives access to the southwest via warri and benin. The 635 km road starts from calabar, passes through Ph, bayelsa, and ends at warri. From there folks can proceed to benin and lagos via the ore road. The road was started by obadanjo in 2006 and is incomplete. Jonathan extended it to Oron in akwa ibom. I think it deserves a place on this list. I am yoruba anyway 4 Likes |

fmarshal: While the Lagos Ibadan road convers traffic from all the West and North. Also mind you, The Benin-Ore traffic still eventually all empties into the Lagos Ibadan Expressway near Shagamu. So Lagos -Ibadan is the busiest no doubt. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Mynd44:Have you bothered to step out of your home before? The most basic student of Nigerian history should know the East-West Road. Very embarrassing. Anyway, it's today's Nairaland. I expect too much. 1 Like |

fmarshal: Well the origin of highway traffic in Nigeria are the seaports and since the North doesn't have them you will tend to think North bound highways will be more congested than South - East bound ones which have alternative ports lined up from Warri to Eket taking a bit off the cargo volumes. So I guess Lagos - Ibadan will be slightly more congeated than Benin - Ore. 2 Likes |

Reference: This would be absolutely correct if all the seaports were operational. A more logical reason has been given why Lagos-Ibadan expressway is the busiest. |

Reference: My family home is off NPA Expressway Warri. The operation of that port is way below 20%. Only Lagos is active, Port-Harcourt I think is slightly better than Warri. |

The fact that the Lagos Abeokuta road isn't on the list is laughable. this road runs along alimosho local govt (the biggest LG in Nigeria in terms of population). The road is always busy...every day of the year. A five minute drive from tollgate to Ikeja can take up to an hour...even on a Sunday. Most of the other roads on the list are usually busy around festive periods. |

Fifthcolumnist: I think it's beyond NYSC. I for one have not left the southwest for about a year now. and I am someone who enjoys travelling The issue is that there has been absolutely no reason for me to go to the east or north for a year now. No reason The other states need to buck up their ideas. they need to become economically viable first. Then people will be attracted to these states. a bit of tourism will help too. 1 Like |
