Re: Subscriber Options for UNLIMITED Internet - WORTH IT? by alt3r3g0: 5:10pm On Mar 30, 2017 |
aliondo: Dont try it. Yes its unlimited but the speed is too slow that by the time the month is over, you would have used less than 10gb if at all. Would have recommended glo but not sure they are in ph. Stick to spectranet for now or get mtn thats 5k for 20gb. |

duwdu:If your phone supports both bands and it's rooted, and you want to be sure of the bands available in your location, download Network signal guru. With that, you can lock it to any of the available bands. That's assuming your device uses a Qualcomm SoC. If MTK, use MTK Engineering mode to lock it to any of the bands. |

Re: Subscriber Options for UNLIMITED Internet - WORTH IT? by 4llerbuntu(m): 8:54pm On Mar 30, 2017 |
Interesting app...... Seems it's this band 8 900Mhz that is in most places I go. I think it travels further than that Band 3. Which explains why their signal is so bleeped. They have low number of masts to serve large areas

Re: Subscriber Options for UNLIMITED Internet - WORTH IT? by amblors(m): 9:08pm On Mar 30, 2017 |
malikalhaj: i heard someone on twitter say its blazing fast in PH. I've heard so much bad news here about the network i decided to go with spectranet. ntel was fluctuating on my phone with 1800mhz. made my decisions easier. Unlimited for 10k was pretty tempting though. currently enjoying my spectranet. |

Around Alagomeji. Now switched to Band 3 1800Mhz Performance is MUCH WORSE

4llerbuntu: ok teach me - i have never really bothered with understanding the implications of bands is there any best band for devices? can this be set on regular routers or would you require fancy firmware [ddrt/tomato]? right now i am maxed out at 1.3mb/s |
Re: Subscriber Options for UNLIMITED Internet - WORTH IT? by 4llerbuntu(m): 10:38pm On Mar 30, 2017 |
At my place. Both bands. Obviously a terrible idea to use at my end. Both bands service is fringe, if not non existent I think everyone should endeavor to try test the network at their ends like this. If it's red and low signal, best forget about Ntel. Rather than spend your time complaining about 30kbps. Like I said earlier it seems they are using few masts to serve large areas so what gets to most places is fringe service. There are days and times when it gets stronger a bit. So you think service improved but not really, especially midnight/early morning when airwaves are a bit clear. By contrast my workplace is very close to one of their masts so it performs waaay better in that place when they are not on their usual general downtime.

Re: Subscriber Options for UNLIMITED Internet - WORTH IT? by 4llerbuntu(m): 11:41pm On Mar 30, 2017 |
oyb: I think this is only possible on phones. I've never had a standalone GSM or LTE modem that could peg bands. And I dont know if there's DDWRT or Tomato for modems . Besides I think Ntel and Swift are the only Network providers using more than one Band in Nigeria. So if your phone supports both bands, it's possible to force it to one particular band. Rule of thumb is the lower the spectrum, the better the signal *Usually*. Not all the time. That's why band 900Mhz will travel further and be stronger indoors compared with 1800. Also why Glo 700Mhz is a really good band for them, consistently better signal strength potential. |

Re: Subscriber Options for UNLIMITED Internet - WORTH IT? by 4llerbuntu(m): 7:29am On Mar 31, 2017 |
Leopantro: It's called NETWORK SIGNAL GURU. Available on the playstore. Requires a rooted device. I don't know about CDMA. But I don't think it does

amblors:then i guess u can help me, do they throttle your speed by 1am to 10mb/s? cos the last time i paid i normally get 25-30 on my X1 but by 1am (free browsing) my speed gets throttled to 10mb/s that was Y i stopped paying |
Re: Subscriber Options for UNLIMITED Internet - WORTH IT? by Nobody: 9:41am On Mar 31, 2017 |
malikalhaj: 10mb/s? I used Spectranet for two years. The best I got was 3mb/s Their throttling was 50kb/s When I went to their office to complain, they admitted throttling, but claimed it was to 500kb/s If Spectranet intend to continue their throttling policy, then they must be extremely confident. It was the throttling that made me leave them. All the scheduling wahala on J Downloader, the waking up or staying up to ensure the rapid gator or uploaded downloads have started, all thwarted. I want to believe they have learned their lesson, but this is Naija after all Meanwhile, if you hear the Ntel ads on the radio.. |
Re: Subscriber Options for UNLIMITED Internet - WORTH IT? by malikalhaj: 9:54am On Mar 31, 2017 |
oyb: apart from this last sunday, Ntel has been ok for me since they stopped that stupid cloudflare nonsense, its cool if i need to download, on PC i get 1.5-3 MB/s on X1 i get an average of 10mb/s so i really can't complain much and i know its unlimited not like mumu spectranet 1 Like |
