STAGE 1-PHASE 2 POE so DW left lagos on the 29th march VIA turkish airline( turkish says fit to fly must be from a govt hospital so we had to do another one at port health) flight left 10 mins later than scheduled. Stopover at Istanbul was like an hour so she basically jumped from plane to plane Arrived JFK at about 11am and joined the queue. Officer calls her forward CBP: how are you DW: Fine CBP: why are you here DW: for child delivery CBP: what(looking suprised like he's never heard that) which child DW: The one in my stomach officer looks astonished again as it seems its his first day on the job. as DW is quiet smallish in nature CBP: Please follow me to secondary inspection as he passes her document to another officer and she was asked to wait Na so DW pose with novel we she no dey read dey wait. And after a short while she was called CBP2: You are here from child birth? DW: Yes CBP2: How much do you have on you DW: $xxxx CBP2: where are you headed? DW: Chicago CBP2: Is this the address of whom you are staying with DW: Yes CBP2: Who's the person to you DW: Family friend CBP2: How lonng are you here for DW: 11weeks CBP2: can i see your return ticket-DW shows him CBP2: Do you have a ticket to chicago DW: Yes, do you want to see it CBP2: never mind. Pick you luggage and go print your ... stamps her in for 6 months and she moved to the terminal for the chicago flight. another story there but nothing really. She in chicago chilling and waiting for our EGO OYINBO to arrive In other news, I think we should'nt always criticize those who do not divulge their pregnancy during interviews as alot of people still think they wont grant you a visa if you are pregnant. in the last 3months, I have spoken to like 6 people(2 in the us, 1 in uk and the other back home) who didnt know it is not illegal to do that. even yesterday when a friend in new york called me and was saying ' Ha i hope they would let her in blahblahblah". not until i told him the purpose we got the visa was for birthing so please like not crucify everyone as some people still dont know even though it is not my prerogative to have people seek for knowledge themselves. lastly shout out to all those that always go out of there way to respond to people. special thanks to @chibertha @chicagomum for always responding to calls, chats and mails and my personal person who dey vex for me @shawbabe 17 Likes |

Hello good evening house. Missed u all. It's been a while. Don't mind my errors in this story just in the spirit of giving back. Did a drop box last month for me and hubby and hubby was given his visa but I was called for an interview. Got my visa in 2015 for childbirth. Used it for childbirth in 2015 and vacation in 2016. Outline of visa interview in Abuja . Me: good day Vo: good day. Please hand over ur passport Me: I pass my passport to her Bo: looks into her computer for a while and asks can she see my receipts for childbirth in 2015. Me: I give her all reciepts, zero balance and my itemized bill breakdown ( which was given to me with zero balance in the hospital) Vo: she looks through all the reciepts and pauses while looking at the itemized bill break down. Says she can see my bills was adjusted. Saw somewhere in the itemized bill where "adj" was written and said it meant adjusted bill. Me: told her I was self pay , payed all my bills for self pay and had no adjustments. Vo: passes the paper to me to see the adj and explain it to her Me: looks through, sees the adj somewhere in front of the paper with $1250 but at the back of the paper where the bill total was written had adj written as $0.00 . Showed her the $0.00 but she said she isn't interested in that one behind but the one in front Me: ma, I paid all my bills as given to me by the hospital. Vo: did u receive any form of financial help Me: No I didn't . Showed her all my reciepts which was the total of what I had on the breakdown of the itemized bill and my zero balance reciept . Vo: says that even if I get government funding I would still have a zero balance reciept so that dat didn't matter to her. Types for a very long while in her computer and says to me sorry you do not qualify for a visa and hand me a yellow paper . Me: sorry please ma, can I ask a question Vo: yes u can go ahead Me: Since am sure I paid all my bills and didn't get any financial aid from anyone or any government body. What is the reason for my denial and what should I do. Vo: sorry ma. I wish u better luck next time. Na so my people I carry my kaya Waka leave embassy gloomy. This happened last month. So I reapplied again and this time I went to Lagos. Got my visa approved yesterday. Will give breakdown of that one later. Lesson of story: Don't show these people any thing u don't know what is written on it Biko to avoid do you know me. 19 Likes |

zmoney: My wife just travelled to Houston during the week. She flew Delta Airline, POE was Atlanta. The airline didnt ask for her fit to fly although she had it ready. There were no hassles whatsoever for her @ POE. CBP only asked her why she stayed so long her last time (1st missionary trip), How she paid her bills then (Cash) and how much she had on her this time around (9,500). He then stamped her in for six months. No document was asked for even though she was well prepared and she wasnt sent to Agric becos she didnt travel with foodstuff 1 Like |

Congratulations @freshdad Your wife's "The one in my stomach" and posing 'with novel we she no dey read' really got me laughing hard.... Your point about criticizing people who don't declare is well taken. As evidenced by your wifes case, it also seems quite a few CBP officials are also confused about how to process people that declare their intention to birth. If a CBP officer does not know/has to seek clarification, then I guess we could overlook a visa applicant's ignorance.. but at the same time, knowledge is power. Researching and learning all you can about whatever endeavour u intend to embark upon leads to less mistakes in execution freshdad: 1 Like |

egwon: I think the adjustment on the itemised bill is the discount which was applied on the total/real cost in order for it to tally with the cost of the package. Someone else has shared an experience like yours before. A likely solution is to go along with the initial correspondence/cost of the birth package from the hospital and show the VO via ur receipt that you paid the amount that the hospital quoted 1 Like |

Shout out to all. Just strolling by. The house seems quite today. Oga JW must have sent some people on sabbatical. Na wa ooo some people just like to always be in the eye of the storm. Anyway sha I think they keep the thread lively sometimes. JW should not be too quick to flash his red card. Those who have hung their boots should reconsider and bring them down now that CBN is flooding the market with £,€&Plenty$ 2 Likes |

Good day everyone Kudos for the good work being done . My visa appointment is this coming week. I have all my documents ready but the funds in my account Is not up to that In the budget sheet. Has anyone been in this kind of situation? What can I do? Anu additional documents i can add to convince the VO that I will get the funds before travelling or what I can say if asked the question of insufficient funds? Thanks |

Both hospitals are part of Harris county health system they don't send emails and doctors correspondence. If I was you I will use correspondence from one of the doctors a lot of people have used to go in then waka your waka. But call to get an appointment so that when you get there you start seeing doctor. to get appointment you should know the zip code of where you will be staying. deenairaland: |

Hi Dear In my case, went for interview like 3months to expected travel date and had like $2k difference. Told the VO that I still had 3months to go and my savings for the period will cover it. The VO didnt ask for bank statements bit asked for budget sheet (which showed abt $12k) and asked how much I had. I told him abt $10k. And I was granted. pointednose: 3 Likes |

pointednose:The VOs hardly check bank statement. I want to believe there decision to approve your visa rest majorly on your application (D-160). The interview is to validate this position. So be prepared to answer them convincingly if asked. 1 Like |

@ Chibertha, thank you so much for your response. I guess I can use a correspondence I have from a doctor in Houston. Please let me make this further clarification, the appointment you said to make, is it the hospital appointment or health centre? Because I know there are different health centers, where you go for antenatal clinics and the likes attached to the hospitals depending on your zip code like you said. Also, to make the appointment, would I be calling from Nigeria or immediately I get in to Houston, I call for an appointment. Thank you so much for your patience with me. It's just in a bid not to assume. Thanks again. Will love to hear from you again. |

sunshine5050: @sunshine5050, I hope you can get it sorted out to your favor. Amen. On the other hand,. My friend that also gave birth there told me that asides the hospital charge she paid for herself and her baby, about $3,5k,the only other bills she paid for was her antenatal visit, about 90$ per visit and then for tests.am guessing this wasnt your experience. |

In the spirit of giving back, would like to share my POE experience. First and foremost, I would like to thank the house for all the valuable information I found on this forum. I left Lagos on the 27th of March with Emirates at 33 weeks 6 days and arrived on the 29th. I had my fitness to fly and my signed MEDIF form dated 24th March which I had sent to the medalos email address someone provided on this forum on the same 24th preceding my trip. Check in went smoothly, the only thing I submitted was the fitness to fly, the MEDIF form was not collected. I wasn't disturbed about being above 32 weeks, though I had also called the airline earlier to confirm that I could fly. I was in Dubai for 24 hours and rested well, I wasn't asked for fitness to fly before boarding the flight to Dallas, though on the plane, an air hostess asked to see it after i requested to be allowed to have the whole row to myself since the flight was not full. on arrival in Dallas, used the self-check Kiosk, took a photograph and carried my printed receipt and passport to the CBP officer after collection of all my luggage. The self-check kiosk almost messed me up as it refused to read my passport and visapage...but thankfully an officer helped me because it already sent me to an exception line. The CBP officer didn't ask me any question at all. Just collected my passport, the receipt and the immigration landing card where i had already declared that i had food, he stamped me in for 6 months, then asked what food i had, i said some egusi, dried fish and a few other things, so he sent me to Agric for luggage check. That was all......no questions on purpose of visit, or how much i had, or anything at all....not even are you pregnant despite my big belle. All my documents remained in my hand luggage. i was really happy. Agric was also a breeze....nothing was seized, infact the officer there declared me his fav passenger for the day after i rechristened him Ademola since he was trying so hard to speak some Yoruba. lolll Now i have arrived and have rested a bit...i need to get the hospital ball rolling...@MiddyO and @Boluwagin...... i need your assistance...please PM me. i intend to use Baylor, Scott and White Carrolton. I have already gotten in touch with Dr Stimage's office and i am waiting to see if she can fit me in for an appointment, but please i need contact of the Paediatrician and anesthesia services you used or are using as well as the hospital fees and breakdown on any additional blood work and sonogram you may have done and the connect for it so i can have a total picture of the expected expenditure. would appreciate a quick response. Thank you 11 Likes |

Hello House, I have been a ghost reader for a while. My wife and I will be in El Paso next week and we'd like to know if there's anyone who can/ who knows anyone that is willing to rent out one room for a duration of 3 months. She'd be using Doctores Para Ti and a property within that radius will be appreciated. Kindly send a Private message if you can help. Thank you. |
