The purpose of this thread is a lost cause.

cos Nigerians will defend that pastor till death.

I look around me, and the people that carry church for head like gala have the worst characters.

So I'm not surprised.

Most Nigerian christians are hypocrites.
Not everybody is in the busiess of 'carrying church on the head'. I am a realistic theorist and my opinions are usually laced with experience and what is reasonably acceptable in a modern society. You should also be able to state your own opinion about the matter and not conclusively assert that Most Nigerian christians are hypocrite when you have not done any better in terms of contribution on the same issue. If it is about hypocrisy, you and the people you are referring to have that in common. They are defending the pastor to death and you are condemning them to death. Same of the same!

Do you know that amount of souls that were won and are still being won an a result of Christ not retaliating against his persecutors?

Besides Christ didn't condemn d law. The pastor only used the law.

alBHAGDADI:
Luke 9:51-56

51 When the days were approaching for His ascension, He was determined to go to Jerusalem;
52 and He sent messengers on ahead of Him, and they went and entered a village of the Samaritans to make arrangements for Him.
53 But they did not receive Him, because He was traveling toward Jerusalem.
54 When His disciples James and John saw this, they said, “Lord, do You want us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them?”
55 But He turned and rebuked them, [and said, “You do not know what kind of spirit you are of;
56 for the Son of Man did not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them.” And they went on to another village.

Did you read the above passage? Do you know why Christ rebuked his disciples when they wanted to command fire from heaven to consume the Samaritans?

Christ said that we Christians are of a different spirit. What do you think he would look like today if he had commanded fire to burn down the same people he came to save?

Since the Kemi Olunloyo and Pastor Ibiyeomie saga became a police affair, I've read several comments from supposed Christians urging the pastor on. When it is made clear to them that a preacher is not to react in the manner Pastor Ibiyeomie did, in that he ought to overlook the matter by forgiving her without taking action, like Christ would, , they shift the goal post to saying that Kemi Olunloyo didn't ask for forgiveness.

Did the people that were killing Jesus ask for forgiveness before he said "Father forgive them for they know not what they do"? Now, tell me, a crime of killing you versus a crime of defaming you, which is more easy to forgive without taking action?

Pastor Ibiyeomie calls himself a Christian i.e like Christ, yet he isn't acting like one. He has enjoyed all the good side of being a Christian. But now that it is time to suffer for Christ, he can't even face the suffer of defamation. What if he had existed in the days of the early apostles when Christians where arrested and fed to lions in gladiator arenas? Those disciple's still prayed for their persecutors.

I don't know whether Kemi Olunloyo deserves whatever she's going through cos we don't know whether she has proof of her claims. One thing i do know is that her punishment shouldn't come from a man who is supposed to preach to her. Having her locked up doesn't prove he's innocent of the allegation.

Some would argue that his silence would have made many people to leave his church. The silence that Jesus and his disciples maintained when they were persecuted is one of the reasons why Christianity is major today. If they had attacked their attackers, Christianity would have been tagged a terrorist religion.

Let's remember how Peter reacted when he cut off the ear of one of those that came to arrest Jesus. Most importantly, let's remember how the man they came to arrest reacted to the situation. He rebuked Peter and went ahead to heal the ear. But Christianity of today is "attack me, I attack you", thanks to the years of prosperity preaching which has turned man away from God and made them love self than others.

You can continue to argue in favour of the pastor, but the Bible will always condemn his actions. God has given you an hint to free you from the shackles of those that have been misleading you. Instead of following it, Christians of today have chosen to stand with the same evil men. Below is what Christ will say..

But He turned and rebuked them, [and said, “You do not know what kind of spirit you are of; Luke 9:55

Do you know why many Christians will accept the mark of the Antichrist? It is because they choose man over God and His Word. It's not too late for you today.

Exodus 22:32
then Moses stood in the gate of the camp and said, “Who is on the LORD’s side? Come to me.”

You are a man of wisdom. You simply pulled out every word from my mouth

Agreed, forgiveness is tough. No one said, it is easy, that is why the Bible did not command unbelievers to forgive. You need God's grace to turn the other cheek or to pray...'Father forgive them for they know not what they are doing' when you have just be hung on the cross and a spear driven through your ribs.

You asked, some personal questions and how I will react, yes at the spur of the moment, I will react to protect myself....but, I will not never proclaim it as a Christian thing to do. I will be mad at myself, I will go to God and ask for his forgiveness, I will know that, I have sinned against God and redeem his face and will try to make amends.

Don't get me wrong, the Pastor have every right to be angry, he have every right to lock her up and throw the keys away, he has every right to be judgmental...but, the question is for a true believer, after those initial burst of angers, you must start looking at things through the lens of Christ, you must start questioning the actions you have taken at the spur of the moment and reverse them, if they do not pass through the lens of "Will Jesus Do this?". The Bible allow Christians to be angry, but it said, we should not allow the Sub to come down before we let go.
U said protect urself? Why? Didn't God say he will protect u. So after sueing someone who stole ur land to court u will start crying. Will u also withdraw d case after crying?
Didnt God say thou shall not Kill? Den why den did d commandment come to Joshua to wipe off d amalekites?
Why was d second thief on d cross not forgiven even though he who had d power to forgive sins was right there nxt to him i mean dat thief died near d definition of love himself and still went to hell.
Stop reading d bible blindly, get understanding.
If d woman goes on his knees and pleads for forgiveness dats wen we will have a case with Pst Ibiyeome if he doesn't forgive her

No proper investigation is done in this part of the world and most time the poor are the gullible who is always there to defend the rich and famous.First of all is kemi guilty or is she being oppressed for writing the truth?

When the foolish woman attacked Pastor Adeboye and Bishop David Oyedepo separetely and severally. Both of them never, ever uttered a word till forever and people said thier silence means consent. Kemi was having a fun time.

Now, she has raised her ugly voice against another man who won't take it and here you are quoting the bible you don't read.

Kemi should provide evidence for all the allegations she laid against pastor Ibiyeome or face the music. If she wants to be forgiven, then she must publicly apologize and withdraw all the lies she published against the man. You can't just go about tarnishing people's image and when you are brought to book, you start crying about how Christian's are supposed to forgive. My question to the Op is if someone were to brazenly murder one of your loved ones will u just forgive and move on because Christian's are supposed to forgive?
Good point. She has refused to plead guilty and putting the blame on an "individual that sent" her the news. She need to sign an undertaken not to publish/ spread untrue stories and news without proofs.

it's easy. Let her tell her lawyers she will publicly apologise, sign an undertaken not to publish untrue stories to defame people and the case may be closed. Until then, the pastor has to be a witness. She is puting the blame on an "individual that sent" her the news. She claims not to be able to reach th individual to provide proofs. The only thing left for her to do is apologise and plead guilty! Do you have an idea how many people sin against and offend pastors. Some run away with their properties an monies. A contractor once stole from this Sam ibiyome. Did he go to court. A driver ran away with oyedepo's car sometime.... and so many other cases. This case is about Kemi and the public and not a" pastor" alone.

Dude, I don't care if the Pastor locked up Kemi till thy Kingdom come, or if she confessed or apologized or if she have proof or not against the Pastor.

I don't know Kemi and am not advocating for her, my analysis is purely from the biblical aspect and the way the Bible expects us to comport ourselves when faced with adversity. Jesus said, if they persecute me, they will also persecute you, but he still command them to handle those persecutions as he handled his.

Yes, Christians sometimes out of justified anger slip and resort to vegence at the spur of the moment just like Peter at the Garden by chopping off the ears of one of the arresting office, but Jesus, through to his teachings and what he wants us to do, admonished Peter and healed the man.

My bro I know we are on the same page saying similar things but what I want to point out is I don't want you to twist the truth jor. Your brother does not mean just Christians, your brother includes Muslims, your neighbors, the masses, the hungry, the beggars on the street (genuine ones), the needy, the rich and the poor. Jesus died for everybody not just for believers but sinners in particular. God created everyone not just the Christians. God does not discriminate at all. Rich or poor all men are equal before God. If you are a father who gave birth to like 6 kids, for example. On their journey of life 3 decided to be Muslim will the rest say they aren't family any longer? You can continue with your arguement now. I have cleared the area that needs to be cleared.

Now coming to the pastor vs Kemi. I know what the pastor did was wrong but to a person of Kemi, she deserves this and more. So I'll be a bit sentimental here, so I won't condemn the pastor totally because Kemi is involved. She seriously needs to be dealt with to learn a bitter lesson.

Look at her write up, she said, she decided to post the letter by the member of the church when others have refused to do so. Definitely she hates the pastor before and she thinks she has two heads, she thought she will get away with it as usual. Once again it's good the pastor has to go to court to teach her bitter lessons. I'm talking this way, cos this is the usual way of Kemi. She derives joy hurting others, she lacks conscience thinking it's fun hurting people, let her feel the same pain she melted out to people in the past. I'm talking this way cos it's not just the pastor that she has targeted but a whole lot of people. So she deserves it. I, in particular is very happy and pleased with this. Next time she will think twice before hurting other people with her stupid write ups or this thing she called journalism profession. That's not how a good professional journalist does things, they do things professionally.

An allegation of sexual immorality on the pastor ought to be first refuted by him irrefutably
Next he sues her in court with irrefutable proof if he where to go that way

Yet Scripture says, Vengeance is mine...I will repay says the Lord!
Welcome to Naija's brand of Christianity where Christ's name fills up the pockets of many a minister whilst His nature is absent in their hearts.
Selah!
Think about it, how come Christ, his apostles and prophets in scripture where accused of many things but NEVER sexual immorality.
Same goes for pastors Adeboye, Kumuyi and a few select men of God in Nigeria
Behind every rumour, truth lurks.
Think on this things.
Don't walk in ignorance. She was granted bail in the Pastor's case, but was rearrested for another case instituted against her by another of her victim.

Nothing in what I said, suggested that Christians cannot defend themselves when hauled before a Judge or that it is unchrist like to do so.

Jesus went before Pilate, he defended himself and as Christians, we must defend ourselves.

My point is, Jesus, Paul, Peter, Silas, etc never hauled their accusers before a Judge, if you find a scripture reference that contridicts that, please let me know.

You are correct at the fact that, the people you mentioned didn't take their accusers before the judge but historically speaking, there was no media trial in their days, but you will agree with me here that in this present day there is media trial. And the public have already nailed you before any argument can be proven in your favour. From research, fake news spreads like fire with the help of social media. Since his trial started the day he was accused the first line of defense is the authority.
