Hmm .. Okay i gave him my car with full tank and a phone as usual.. After a week i got alert of 5330 from uber .. I got angry and told him to return my keys so he begged for one more day to raise the funds and was able to raise 17k yesterday.

Your car is worth more than the weekly rental. It is not wise to leave N4.8M on the road with a driver without monitoring it just because N45,000 gets paid every week.
darmilolah:
I need to say this to Partner(s) that their driver is on rental, stop monitoring your driver. You will have high blood pressure. It only becomes a problem if he does not pay at the of the week or agreed time.

Are you saying checking if he's online or checking his earnings should be a thing of concern?

the existence of middle men is killing the uber business. the most important partners in this business are drivers and uber. unfortunately all drivers can’t own a vehicle which brings into play the importance of an investor , known as a partner. The question is do the system needs a fleet manager? When uber entered into the Nigerian market. They were the only market player in the ehailing business which ment drivers are restricted to the platform alone.  To encourage investors, uber created a system that allows the monitoring of drivers activities related to the platform. An investor can monitor daily drivers performance like rating, earnings ,canceled trips, hours online etc. To keep drivers at check so as not to use the vehicle for other purpose. This also contradict what uber preached when wooing drivers as regards drivers been able to determine work time flexibility. In addition uber came up with systematic profit sharing format which is popularly known as the % sharing format. For an investor(partner) that is very busy ,he or she needed someone that could help monitor drivers activities related to the app, buy fuel for the vehicle and also see to the repair of vehicles earns the need for a fleet manager. Problem started with the above mention business model when drivers started getting a lot of juicy off uber jobs there by wanting to determine their own work time schedule, so this business model was scrap for the rental and hp(drive to own) agreement. With these business model investors only needs to get a good driver and wait to be paid weekly. Don’t be deceive by any fleet manager as your vehicle would be used and given back to you worst than u gave it out initially to them with little or no return.

REASON: he or she offers to pay 40k weekly and gives it out to a driver at 45k weekly. The driver that collect the vehicle would only intend to drive the vehicle for a while ,then move on to a 40k offer.

Uber is not as lucrative as it use to be as there is Stive competition from other ehailing platform notably taxify. I can boldly tell you all experience drivers work on the two platform simultaneously.

The only justifiable reason to give your vehicle to a fleet manager is if the person in question is a mechanical engineer that repairs that kind of vehicle because that is the only reason his or her service is needed.

In conclusion i would advice all prospective investors/partner join the uber driver/taxify telegram group where we have over 150 drivers u can choose from. Join the group familliarize yourself with active members and have them recomend a driver. Any disagreement in future can be reported on the group and settled. I have witness a lot of reported issues settled amicably among various partners and drivers. To be added on tele gram download and reach me to be added 08059290962.  I am also available for a hp agreement. Thanks for your time.

uber has start to saturate the market
uber now takes car from 2000 now.it was in their mega matchmaking dey said it
How true is this?
Meanwhile guys I am not really conversant with Lagos roads but want to join Uber. I already have a 2009 Camry. I can use Google maps but I noticed sometimes it doesn't show the roads well, it takes you to one way or even take you to wrong place but very close to where you're going.
My major concern is that road and street navigation stuff.
So I want to ask, how do new drivers on Uber with little or no experience with Lagos roads cope at the beginning?

1. Ask your rider, if he/she can direct you to the destination or the closest route to their destination
2. Ask Google map.
3. Ask people on street
4. Use your head.

And finally; Even Tinubu himself dont know every places in lagos.

That's cool bro. My cousin told me severally how some of his riders especially the ladies use to embarrass him when he asks them if they Know the place to direct him, and thereafter they will rate him low and it was after affecting his rating which Uber threatened to deactivate him. But now he Knows many places.

there is profit but it all boils down to the driver management and the car tolerance quality. I drove a corolla for months and i never visited the mechanic except for servicing which insisted my partner do every month. hence he had his weekly returns of 40k every week with only 10k spent on servicing monthly and changed tyres twice, tokumbo, not new. until car got impounded by customs for import duty issues. switched partners to a kia rio. my assessment, best car wen it comes to fuel management, overall, worst car for uber, engine amd components not durable. had issues with the AC so frequently, too low to the ground, and if u drive around lekki and its waterlogged environment, the compressor gets spoilt by the water. kept fixing that every month till I dropped it december.
summary, if ur driver is good and ur car is in good condition, u make profit. to minimise repairs frequency he should stay outta lekki and ajah areas especially when it rains.

expenditures(with good driver n car)
servicing; 10k monthly =120k
tyres: 20k *4 yearly = 80k
respray; 60k+ yearly = 60k
shocks: 150k+ 1year depends on ur car model and ur drivers
miscellenous = 5k mthly

profit calculation.
income: 40k *52 weeks = 2,080,000
expenditure; 120+80+60+150+60= 470,000

profit =N1,610,000

if I missed amything, anyone pls indicate
best advice: do drive to own aka hire purchase. has zero losses.

"if I missed anything, anyone pls indicate"
Hhmmm.... missed just some "tiny" bits:

In addition to my previous post, let us fact-check to see if you are actually better off ("welfare" gain/loss), after 4yrs:
1. You, didnt depreciate your equipment(Car) as it will wearout, "die"(salvage value=0), and need replacement in say 2-4yrs. Lets be very
optimistic and say 4yrs.
So, on Camry 2.4 Million/4 = 600K depreciation per yr.
2. Cost of funds - 2.4Million to buy the car before or now, did NOT drop from the sky! You should treat it as borrowed money; at today's rates
its 27% for transportation sector at Diamond bank. But let's assume its dash money, but we deduct only 18% income loss, as you could have
invested in treasury bills(FGN saving bonds) and get 18%. So, we deduct 18% of 2.4Million = 432K as interest/income loss.

So, actual profit = N1,610,000-600K-432K = 578K per yr. In 4yrs, equals 4x578K = 2.3Million(profit).
Total at Hand (saved) in 4yrs, BUT with no car = N2.3M+ 4yrsx(600K+432K) = 6.4Million.

If a MR SAM, was dashed the same 2.4Million, but buys treasury bills at 18%, rolls-over the capital and yield over 4yrs, he gets 2.4M+0.4K+0.5K+0.6+0.7 = 4.6Million.

After 4yrs, you would have earned 1.8Million (6.4M-4.6M) more than MR SAM. That's 8.6K more, weekly. (1.8/(4yrsx52wks)).

Now, the Uber business needs serious MANAGEMENT, so you are suppose to deduct this, even if u are the Manager; as it is an effort u could have put into something else, or hire someone to do.
Minimum Manager wage would be about 40K, that's 9K (40x12/52) a week.

Summarily, in 4yrs you, now on a "Pace-maker", are financially on the same spot (8.6K-9K=0) as Mr SAM who has been smoking Cigar, Pina-Colada, on the Beach, with his new....... wink
If realistically assumptions below are used; in 4yrs, you fit "park Jeep for Third Mainland Bridge" o!!! cry

Ambitious assumptions:
1. Car mostlikely will not survive up to 4yrs of uber punishment. Higher depreciation, less profit.
2. No Down times, repairs, etc- its impossible to have a regular 40K income for 208wks (52x4).
3. What about accidents, towing, lasma, etc in 4yrs?
4. Cost push inflation would increase cost of parts and repairs, so higher contribution, less profit.
5. Even if Uber compensates and increases price over 4yrs, service increases are always less than product price increases.
6. Saturation is occurring as more cars join Uber, leading to less call outs so less income, less profit.
