SHAKESPEARE: LEICESTER DON’T WANT TO PUT TOO MUCH PRESSURE ON NDIDI

Wilfred Ndidi
by Graeme Jackson

Leicester City coach Craig Shakespeare has revealed that Nigeria international Wilfred Ndidi reminds him of French international N'Golo Kante.

The Frenchman, who is now with Chelsea, was instrumental for Leicester as they won the English Premier League (EPL) title last season.

Shakespeare has since compared the two central defensive midfielders after Ndidi scored his first EPL goal during Leicester's 2-0 win over Stoke City on Saturday.

“(Ndidi) is young and we don’t want to put too much pressure on him," Shakespeare said on All Nigeria Soccer.

"He’s a humble boy and reminds a lot of Kante with his personality," the tactician continued.

“First goal was always going to be crucial and what a goal it was. Ndidi has done that before.

"He’s got that in his locker.”

Ndidi, who joined Leicester from Belgian club Genk midway through the current 2016/17 campaign, has made nine league appearances for the Foxes.

The 20-year-old and his Leicester team-mates will face Sunderland AFC in a league game on Tuesday night.

Arsenal considering buying Kelechi? Are you kidding me? Why would Arsenal wanna buy yet another striker when they already has:
Giroud, Welbeck, Sanchez, Theo Walcott on their payroll.

Granted that Kelechi needs to leave ManCity ASAP, but I don't think Arsenal would be a good place for him. They got too many strikers already. What Arsenal needs are good DMs and CBs. As for Kelechi, I would like to see him join a team like Everton or even Liverpool.

Brand Spark: Kelechi Iheanacho vs Alex Iwobi

Kenneth IguodalaApr 03, 2017BRAND SPARK

When you try to imagine the future of Nigerian football, two names come to mind first — Kelechi Promise Iheanacho and Alexander Chuka “Alex” Iwobi. These starlets are without doubt, two of the best upcoming footballers in Europe at the moment and the fact that they both play for two of the biggest clubs in the English Premiership is proof of this fact.

Iheanacho and Iwobi were exceptional for the Super Eagles and their respective clubs last year and it may be a little surprising to see them not get more starts under their belt. Many Super Eagles fans had hoped to see both men go head-to-head in Sunday’s pulsating 2-2 draw but there was very little surprise when Iwobi only came on as a substitute for Danny Welbeck while his pal, Iheanacho was left out of City’s squad at the Emirates. Notwithstanding, the future is definitely bright for these two.

Although Iheanacho and Iwobi have contrasting styles of play, this week’s edition of Brand Spark brings you a comparison between the Super Eagles pair.

Kelechi Iheanacho

Date of Birth – 3 October 1996 (age 20)

Playing Position – Forward

Super Eagles Apperances – 8
◾Goals – 5

Alex Iwobi

With rumours of Iheancho making a move to Arsenal to join Super Eagles team mate Iwobi, this comparison isn’t far fetched. Let us know in the comments which of the two players you think makes more impact.

Alhassan Ibrahim – Failed Arsenal Target,Once Rated Ahead Of Iheanacho Turning Heads In NPFL

The story of Akwa United free scoring midfileder Alhassan Ibrahim popularly referred to as Mu’azam won’t be complete without visiting the issues that stifled his growth.

Back in 2012 when Nigeria U-17 coach Manu Garba finished screening for the next badge of cadet players for Nigeria, the one player whose name was on everybody’s lips was Ibrahim Alhassan.

The midfielder who loves to play just behind the main striker was a beauty to behold during the qualifiers for the African U-17 Youth Championship which was hosted by Morocco in 2013.

Mu’azam missed out on the tournament after falling short of the mandatory MRI Scan, but English Premier League giants have seen enough in the two qualifiers against Niger Republic and Guinea Conakry, hence they slapped in a bid for his services.

His agent (names withheld) killed the deal, when he insisted on taking control of negotiations instead of working in tandem with the intermediary who brought the interest from the English Premier League giants.

He subsequently tried out with some clubs in Europe but an ankle injury stopped him from joining any of the teams despite his performance, and his lack of club football subsequently cost him a spot in the 2015 Nigeria U-20 team for the World Youth Championship.

That exclusion happened to be the kick he needed to get his career back on track, as he joined Wikki Tourist last year and played a role inGodwin Obaje emerging as the highest goal scorer in the league.

He moved to Akwa United before the start of thisseason, and his form has once again gone back to 2012 where he was the big hit in a Nigeria team ahead of the likes of Manchester City Kelechi Iheanacho and Watford’s Isacc Success.

So far he has found the back of the net seven times as a pseudo striker, a strike rate that has made him one of the feared forwards in the Nigeria Professional Football League, and a show of why Arsenal pulled the stop to sign him in 2012.

Prio to the CAF U17 I also rated this guy including Benerd Bulbwa ahead of Iheanacho.

Iheanacho was warming the bench when this Al-Hassan and Bulbwa were running things in that team. Awoniyi was initially the main CF before Success broke in.

Another player I rated and still rate highly is Ifeanyi Mathew. Complete baller.

Arsenal: Alex Iwobi Can Rectify Doubts With Kelechi Iheanacho Coup

by Josh Sippie 1 week ago

Arsenal will likely be on the hunt for some sort of spark this summer transfer window and as unlikely as it seems, Kelechi Iheanacho isn’t the craziest idea.

Alex Iwobi is locked in a serious bromance with Manchester City’s Kelechi Iheanacho. But they are only able to live out that bromance when international duty calls because the wall between Arsenal and Manchester City is pretty high.

And apparently, Iwobi isn’t ruling out the idea of bringing down that wall and convincing the Gunners to go after the 20 year old Nigerian.

On the surface, it sounds like crazy talk. Iheanacho has been superb with City and he is clearly a striker destined for great things. But when you dig below that, there is some hope to be found.

For starters, we were fairly realistically linked to Sergio Aguero, and that seemed impossible. Pep Guardiola is an odd manager with fleeting fancies, and when someone has fallen out with him, they disappear. Just ask Zlatan.

While Iheanacho has denied any sort of falling out over his lack of playing time, that is what a good, obedient player is supposed to say. It would not be surprising at all for it to come out later that there was, in fact a falling out.

Aguero had one, after all.

Not only that, but with Guardiola landing Gabriel Jesus, the future seems like it may be more in his court than that of Iheanacho. There is certainly room for two at the club, but Iheanacho is not one to play second fiddle and again, Guardiola is a funky dude sometimes. The fact that Gabriel is “his” man and Iheanacho isn’t will factor into the decision.
Even if it isn’t this summer, if Iheanacho’s minutes don’t improve, there will be no point to hanging around. He hasn’t started a game (in any competition) since Gabriel came to town and he hasn’t played the full 90 since December 6th.

In fact, in all of 2017 (Gabriel arrived January 19th) he has only made six appearances for a grand total of 104 minutes. He also has not played more than 14 minutes since the Brazilian’s transfer was completed. In addition, he went the entirety of February without playing a game.

Gabriel was injured in mid-February, yet somehow even his absence has not sparked more time for Iheanacho, who has only played in 31 minutes throughout the month of March.

With Raheem Sterling now featuring at times as a second striker, the prospects are looking even dimmer.

For as hard as I am on Iwobi and as much as I grow tired of seeing him play every single day, if he convinces Kelechi Iheanacho to come to Arsenal, based on the faith that Iwobi himself has been shown, then hey, it was all worth it.

Aluko Voted Fulham’s Best Player In Win Over Rotherham

Chelsea badly missed this player against Crystal Palace: Conte got tactics wrong - Neville

By Lewis Winter / Published 2nd April 2017

That is according to pundit and former Manchester United star Phil Neville.

Chelsea were surprisingly on the wrong end of a 2-1 loss at Stamford Bridge to narrow the gap at the top to seven points.

Moses was missing with an injury he picked up before the international break
”Wilfried Zaha had a field day running at the full backs of Chelsea, he had little to do defensively because there was no player opening the game up like Moses would have done for Chelsea.

”Willian brought a bit of spark to the attack when he was introduced but at that time Crystal Palace were all about protecting their 2-1 lead which they did at the end of the game”.

Some times in football when tactics fails, physic and experience carry you through. Especially in Africa. The team was grossly inadequate in these two.

For eg an NPFL U20 or U19 all stars team would not have crumbled to a team like Sudan under such conditions, including unpaid allowances.

Do you think Barcelona will prefer to play in a bad pitch that will restrict their passing game? As soon as you take away that, you weaken them. The pitch restricted their play.

"the Sudanese were bigger and resorted to up balls". That is what i have talking about. Amuneke's choice of players. That is part of the inadequacies i have been talking abt.I also blame Amuneke's tactics for that day.

You parade 17 and few 18 yrs olds as U20 and ask them to play tiki taka on a flooded pitch?

You wanted Amunike to ask them to resort to long balls against taller and bigger opponents.

cheesy

Our best bet was to stick to the way they know. The pitch was bad and the organizers messed them up. If we got them a better pitch they would have excelled. I wonder why it is so hard to face it. Bad pitch and unpaid allowances disrupted the team. Finito. Comprende, au revoir.

I think it's a combination of factors. Our boys are used to that terrain. However, Amuneke should have instructed them to change tactics. Overall, they came into that game already at a disadvantage psychologically.

Tell that to Barcelona players that complain about pitches. Recently, Guardiola complained about the length of the grass in a pitch. I guess these are amateurs to you. What of the spat between Guardiola and Mourinho recently when Guardiola requested a rule against high grasses. Talk less of waterlogged artificial pitch.
