There's nothing so magical with Belgium as you're making it out to be. So many Nigerian players have torn Belgian league apart but still didn't crack it at any major league.
Who remembers Tosin Dosunmu, Patrick Ogubshoto, Peter Utaka, Joseph Akpala, Marvin Ogunjimi (foreign born just like you like them), Manshe Isiaku etc...

For instance, Peter Utaka was the best striker in Belgium, scoring goals like it was going out of fashion. He lead the goals scorers chart for 2 seasons before he left. But somehow he never got a chance to play in a bigger league. Some of the aforementioned names like Akpala and Dosunmu couldn't hack it when they were given chances in the national team but they usually went on rampage at their clubs.
The last I heard about Marvin, he was in Borat's country. That is why I am careful joining the bandwagon of this Belgian revolution.

As far as I can tell, only Osaze have gone from Belgium to bigger things in Europe over the last 15 years till Ndidi showed up.

1+1 is not always 2 in football especially with transfers. Just about anything is possible. I sincerely hope the Nigerians in Belgium currently, move on to greater things than their predisesors.

Odey and Osimhen were in under 23 camp.. Odey was dropped.

Manu dropped Karo Etebo from his screening camp. Nobody new his name and it was nt until recently that i even knew he even reported to camp.

Again dnt miss my point. I am nt saying none of those his U17 boys deserve to be in d U20 team. What i am against is promoting ALL of them.

If u'll recall i raised an alarm when i discovered that. I knew by that kind of composition that the team will fail. Even if they scaled through Sudan they most likely would nt have made it to the WYC.

Ideally yes, but there is a disconnect. Did you not see how under 17 players were running rings around Enyimba and Kano Pillars? You can probably get a few quality players from the league like Etebor but if our Olympics experience is anything to go by, we might not get much.An open camp could expose some hidden gems.

Foreign based players will usually be unavailable for qualifiers.

Former Super Eagles striker Michael Eneramo has joined Saudi Arabian side Al-Ettifaq FC on a free transfer after the expiration of his deal with Turkish side Manisaspor.


31 year old Eneramo is not entirely new to playing in Saudi Arabia as he had a short stint with Al-Shabab in 2004, where he played 8 games with a goal to his name while on loan from Esperance of Tunisia.


He has played in Italy for the last seven seasons but injuries have slowed down his productivity on the pitch, as he has failed to stay fit since recovering from a serious knee injury picked up while at Besiktas.


The burly striker penned a year deal with the Saudi outfit, where he will be hoping to recapture the form that gave him ten caps for Nigeria from 2009 to 2011, which helped Nigeria beat Tunisia who were keen on having him play for them to his services.

Those NPFL guys were on season break.

I personally am an apostle of structured development.

A player jst came back from an U17 tourney and next month he is in the U23 team.

The other time i saw something similar was in the case of Femi Opabunmi. He played U17 late 2001 and by June 2002, which was abt 8months later he was the senior world cup. It takes only very exceptional players to make such fits

2004 Olympic qualifiers which was being played in 2003, rather than Opabunmi, Segun Abiodun and Richard Eriomogbe(nt sure of spelling) to play with the U20 they were in the U23 team as 18/19 yrs olds. Both the U20 and U23 teams crashed out that yr.

It was nt true that there were no quality forwards in the league then. That year 2015 if u recall was when players like Chisom Chikatara, Godwin Obaje, Emem Uduok and Mfon Udoh were on fire.

Was it not on this forum that we were clamouring for Chikatara and Obaje's inclusion?

You are correct, I remember clamoring for chikatara's inclusion at the time. An under 17 side should not be running rings around professionals regardless.

I think, it is best to have a different coach at under 20. The same coach is tainted by his boys and is influenced by sentiments.

U brought in the 600 figure which makes it more difficult to believe that he only picked 'Paul scholes' from that lot.

U are talking abt clubs nt releasing their players for the qualifier matches. That is nt true as those teen NPFL players are not yet Key players in their clubs. Most are fringe or substitute players that the club would pose little or resistance to release.

As I once said, every club would want to cease the opportunity of an U20 callup to market their players so as to make huge returns on them.

Ndidi has been a revelation since joining the club from Belgian side Genk in the January transfer window, and his performances have lead to talks of a move away from the club in the summer.


Arsenal and Spurs are rumoured as the two English teams who are keeping close watch on the Nigerian midfielder, but Shakespeare insist the 20 year old will be at the club for a long time.


Shakespeare made this known during his pre match conference ahead of their upcoming game against Sunderland on Wednesday.

Your last paragraph. Nigeria learnt the bitter way.

Experience is always the best teacher.

Problem is we keep forgetting.

Our two best Flying Eagles teams did nt have the same coaches from U17 to U20. And they were never U17 champions. So no automatic promotions and the U20 coaches scouted for the best available players with the believe that the team at U17 level was nt good enough. And that yielded results.

Go back to our results at U20 two yrs after each time we win U17. Manu U20 boys even with the 2nd round exit were better than the others.

With how physical our NPFL is who would want to field teenage defenders?

Look also at Musa Mohammed his mate like Iheanacho, Simon and Iwobi are already established in the Super Eagles. But Musa is nt experienced enough for the defense. Same goes for Ebuehi he looks too young and fragile to cope with the physical demands of African football. But his mates hu are strikers can cope well.

I told my Ghanaian friends the moment Leicester sealed Ndidi's deal, that Amartey was doomed and they called hoax my claim saying no one could fill the chasm created by the departure of Kante than their versatile Amartey. Lol today they don't like discussing soccer with me.

Lol recently I made them develop cold fit with the news that Leicester is planing a swoop on Etebo come next summer. Lol that could bring Amartey's stay at the king power stadium to a premature end.
