Giddyperson:

Thanks, Hunniesuzie already explained this, just didn't wanna pack stuff I won't use, never knew they use the pads for other things too.

Another thing in my hospital list is that they wrote pant, bra, then underwear. What is underwear if not pant and bra cheesy in this heat. I seriously have no clue what I'm meant to buy as underwear tho

He he he naija hospitals and their lists....

Personal items for new mum what i suggest based on what i used :

Nursing bra and breast pads

Your biggest grandmama pant..... you will not loose your bump immediately so you will still find that you may need a size up. Also they are better fitting than those disposable undies and they can be cheap enough for you to throw away if they get stained and you cant stress about washing them.

Light bath/ house robe, towel, showercap, toiletries. Perhaps even a small bowl to put your toiletries ( boarding school style) you never know the state of the bathroom and dont want to carry your fancy hook on toilet bag and find there is no where to hook it!

Old button down shirt.( old hubbys work shirts work great) you can button down to breast feed. Short enough that you can raise it up so you dont sit on it and stain it.

Pyjama bottoms. With drawstring waist if possible and in a dark colour.... dark coloured joggers also work well. May not be ideal for cs mums. Due to the elastic at waist.

Bed pads. And wraper.

Lay the bed pad on the bed or the chair so you can sit on it. If you bleed out, ot will catch the worst of it.
You can use the wraper over your legs if you are on a chair. Wear something short enough like botton down shirt as above that you can raise up and not sit on.
The reason is if you are stained and you have guests for instance the shirt can cover the pyjama bottoms or wrapper and your house / bathrobe can cover everything till you get to the bathroom.

Bathroom Slippers: very important for when you want to use the bathroom.

Dont forget your going home outfit and make up sef. Hospitals will not put that on your list and You may arrive the hospital at 3 am in wrapper and singlet... but you dont want to be discharged looking like a mad woman. #hotsexymama# # lets-make-labour-look-like-a-walk-in-the-park#

Lol!

Modified: forgot to add

going home shoes!

You will deck up finish and realise you only have dunlop slippers.

some snacks and energy drinks like lucozade and isotonic drinks and water with you. And also take a few bendy straws!!!!

The reason is, what ever position you find yourself during labour it is by far easier to drink from a straw than having to navigate a cup or a bottle without pouring water on yourself. Also most people including husbands forget to eat during the labour process.... then when the child is born, everyone suddenly realises that its 2:00 in the mornimg and the last time you ate anything was at 15:00 the previous day,. You will almost eat the door handle by the time the hunger embraces you!

First day she came she asked me to make eba for her to eat after and 2hrs she me to warm rice for her. I had to ask who they are doing omugo for if its her or me. She complain about everything and anything, how she cant cook in my kitchen cos is not so big as hers. .My dh works offshore so we dont talk often when he calls she will complain that I am on fone for too long. Knowing fully well that I dont work and my DH has spent alots of money for child birth abroad she will disturbing me for money Everybody knows I gave birth abroad courtesy of her. Now my husband is very upset saying I cant handle my mum. Just dont know what to do. She doesnt bath the baby cos she said she doesnt know her to bath baby so as early as 6:30am my neighbor will come and birth him. All she does is to wash his clothes. Was to take my son for drs appointment at 6pm she didnt return until 6pm and instisted she will make food to eat before going. Got there almost 8pm I couldnt see the Dr again cos I was in theatre a patient. She said she will be coming to take the child taking for weekend and I told her she will have to ask my DH for permission she said she will not ask for any permission. She said the baby will be dedicated at her church also. She is coming up with several weird things. I pray her coming doesnt destroy my marriage.

She's your mum and u shouldn't get scared of letting her know you don't like her actions. She doesn't have the right to insist your child should be dedicated in her church cos that's your decision with your dh. Secondly, if she can't ask the father of the child for permission then she can't take the child. You have to man up and save your marriage cos if u have issues with your dh, u wont be able to stay with her in her house without enough nagging. Use diplomacy but if diplomacy doesnt work, INSIST. #JUST MY OPINION THOUGH#

Do not for any reason let your mum bring issues between you and your husband. She shouldn't be deciding what happens in your marriage. As for her actions,I feel you should speak to her and if she's not ready to help out and take care of her grandchild, she should jejely go back home o cos if it was your mum inlaw acting this way you'll say she isn't a loving mother inlaw...Pls be wise sis!

Hello dear, you and I seem to be in the same situation; have you found a good hospital yet?

Hi i4eva, I think so... St Kizito hospital seems very good and the staff are courteous, seem to know what they're doing and ready to answer all questions. So far so good... If you are along this axis, they may be worth checking out

Amazing how people react differently to pregnancy. My hair is tho longest and fullest it has ever been. People have been telling me it will fall off after delivery but I'm enjoying it while it lasts sha while silently rebuking their prophesies cheesy

On a side note, it's 3am and I can't sleep. Does this continue through out pregnancy, do we get to 'rest' before baby vigilante starts?

Good morning beautiful ones,

I woke up about fifty minutes ago and decided to browse through a devotional plan on the bible app when I came across this verse in Luke 1:28, where God sent the angel Gabriel to Mary of Nazareth to tell her of her impending conception and birth of Jesus- "The angel went to her and said, "Greetings, you who are highly favoured! The Lord is with you."

It is very comforting to know that even before God blessed each and every one of us with the beautiful gift/gifts growing within us, he knew we would need him by our side each moment; thus he sent a messenger even before conception to let each of us know that we are highly favoured by him and that he finds us worthy to be with us, especially during this period of changes, discomfort, pain, uncertainty etc.

These words fill me with warmth, love, and happiness; knowing that I have a father who is on this journey with me each and every step of the way; hence I am not alone.

As we are vomiting, God is with; holding us and ensuring we do not choke on our own vomit and still nourishing the child/children we carry
As we have headaches and other body pains, God is with us; massaging those body parts and whispering comforting words into our ears
When we wake up at night and can not go back to sleep, God is with us; waiting to chat and bond and let us know the many blessings he has in store for us
When we are frightened by bad news from test results, God is with us; telling us to trust him, and that he has already given us the victory and that we should remain still and know he is God
When labour is dawning near, God is with us; holding us strongly as we huff and puff; taking control of the atmosphere in the wards, labour room etc and ensuring that all things happen according to his plan

God is always with us because each and every one of us is special and highly favoured; and he will surely be with us till the very end.

PRAYER
Our good good father; creator of all things beautiful; the one who is ever present through it all; we are so delighted to have you in our lives, and we sing praises unto your mighty name.
Lord, even though we do not deserve it, we are so grateful that by your mercy you have favoured and will be with us always; Lord this gives us so much confidence that all will be well and that you have already won the victory; it makes us feel less lonely and more comforted because the ever faithful one is ever by our side, holding our hands as we go through the various stages of pregnancy.
Lord, we ask that you remain with us till the very end; during those dark moments you will give us light and hope; and each day you will give us something to smile and laugh about and many things to be grateful for.
Continue to favour us your children oh Lord and forever remain with us in Jesus mighty name we pray. AMEN

It may not be as bad, but with the bleeding it usually is like a super duper heavy period, so it pays to take a few precautions and a few extras.

Half of these tips were given to me by a very experienced midwife during one of my antenatals so they have seen all sorts of scenarios.

From the ladies that will bring dresses in and then realise they cannot access breast to those that when they are discharged it is then they realise they have no clothes to wear home, they will send hubby home and the poor guy may just bring your pre-pregnancy pink trouser, blue button down top that will not close as your boobs are now 4 times their normal size and he forgets the underwear! Lol!

Practical advise like this should also be given in antenatal classes. Very very useful.

The tips were sometimes ridiculously simple and comon sense but as a ftm i would NEVER had thought about some of them: even something as basic as take some snacks and energy drinks like lucozade and isotonic drinks and water with you. And also take a few bendy straws!!!! shocked shocked shocked

The reason is, what ever position you find yourself during labour it is by far easier to drink from a straw than having to navigate a cup or a bottle without pouring water on yourself. Good day everyone. Congrats to the mamas who delivered.
The good lord will keep and preserve them.

Am 35 wks 5 days today. My BP has been high for the past 3 weeks. The last time i checked it w as143/87. The gynae asked me to take diazepam, one tab for 6 nights. I googled it but I don't like what i read.

Please, has anyone used this tab before?
I was told that if it remains high at my next appointment i would be scheduled for a c section at 37 weeks.

Abeg make una no waka pass o.

Diazepam is a muscle relaxant.Your doctor is trying to control your elevated blood pressure. Most drugs have their side effects but sometimes you use it when the benefits outweigh the risks.A constantly elevated blood pressure in pregnancy can lead to pre-eclampsia which is a serious issue to deal with.
I'm sure your doctor placed you on low dose which you have to use for just few days so it's safe.
If your BP continues to stay elevated, you will be managed till you get to 37weeks and your choice will be a C/S to bring the baby out because that's the only solution to the hypertension.
Cut off salt intake too and try to take foods rich in potassium like oranges, tomatoes etc and drink lots of water.

you can do that divide the wall into two halves, one part milk and one part brown, den to go further on the milk part of the wall you do designs with brown , one the brown part of the wall you do designs with milk....or you can simply paint everywhere milk, den design with brown...
