ChristoBam: I wouldn't know if the requirement has since been revised. But the last time I checked, applicants were encouraged to go with supporting documents though with a clause- the documents may not even be requested. If you asked me, I'd say an F1 applicant is expected to appear before the consular officer with his passport, i20, sevis payment slip, appointment confirmation and other supporting documents namely statement of account, Test Report cards( TOEFL and GRE/GMAT) etc. |

chinemomah2020: Schedule a mock interview? lol you make it sound official. All you have to do is send a private message to someone who you'd like to vet your transcript. Be courteous and do not expect everyone you ask to agree to a mock interview as many may be neck deep in grad work. While you go about you mock, note that a mock interview is just to raise your confidence level so you'd not be confused, startled or caught unaware by the line of questioning you'd get on the interview day. No one is encouraged to prepare responses in verbatim as that may make your interview come out as premeditated and not spontaneous. I wish you well 1 Like |

DimmyCho: @bolded, you try the same at an American embassy and you get banned for a very long time..While it's good to be optimistic, the US immigration system is not so forgiving when it comes to falsifying documents. If the employment information is the only thing wrong with your previous application, get you application together again if you've not already, and apply to good schools. Write GRE and TOEFL if you can, and be transparent wrt to previous applications at your visa interview. Good luck! 1 Like |

I remember someone mentioned that there is a portion of the visa application that asks if you have falsified info/doc i.e. misrepresentation before. @DimmyCho, did you answer yes to this ques and you clarified what went down? And then you might need to contact the embassy to find out if you have been banned (for 10 years). Just saying. I would recommend you visit the USA Visit thread, more info there partaining to visit visas |

Yes. The school wants me to enrol for the Econs courses and complete them before the fall session starts (same as yours?) I dont know if conditional admission affects visas, in my opinion it wouldn't. You can ask the International Student office if you are eligible to apply for visa before completion of the foundation courses. And if they have International students who got their visas even with conditional admission, you should be fine. PS: I haven't applied for visa yet, I haven't decided which school. Awesu122: |

Boss on the admission letter I was told I would take the the foundation course on campus and that I would be introduced to advisor that would put me through during orientation week so definitely the foundation course would be on campus, concerning VISA not sure it affected me applying for F1 visa, in my view the wouldn't have sent i20 if I had to have foundation class first before I travel |

Gunnerson: Firstly, I would say you fill in as being employed because this guy's don't like an idle mind. They believe you should always have something that you are doing which is beneficial to the society without it necessarily being your profession. Secondly, when you are posed with the question, what were you doing in the media company or where did you work and what did you do? You should know that the VO won't start opening the website of your company or making a phone call to see if the media company you worked is related to science or chemistry. You can tell him that you were in the section that publish about science in the science section of the weekly magazine. That your interest lies in communication the beauty of science to high school students, the community and the society at large. So you were part of the team that handles different scientific messages to the community. If he ask example of scientific messages. You can say mostly public awareness, like hygiene, safety, etc Just look for a way to link it up. Your past job should kind of be in line with what you are going to do now or your past degree so it doesn't sound like you couldn't get a job with your degree instead you opted for anything that was available. This won't definitely send a good message to the VO. Try to always link want you did before, what you are doing now and what you hope to do later together. It gives a sense of direction and purpose! Thanks, well that's what I think. I guess other gurus who are in the house can give other better opinion. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Well I would begin by analyzing your situation very careful. First, what do you mean by foundation courses? From my understanding, maybe the school must have looked through your transcript and observed that you haven't taken some important perequisite courses yet. So to avoid you struggling to take the courses at a more higher level, they demand you take those classes. That is how it works. Then if you are changing field, let's say I did mathematics and now I want to get a master's in mechanical engineering, they would require I take some mechanical engineering courses first before proceeding to the master's courses. This condition is what is referred to as conditional admission. Sometimes you can tell the school that you did those courses they are asking you to take in some course you did before and you fully understand it. But they could either accept or reject your claim. The Visa officer might look at what you studied before and what you are going to study now, to understand the bridging gap. He might further go ahead to ask or try to correlate inherently how you intend to pass those classes. So let's look at those classes in two ways: First if you pass them, then you are fine but if you don't what happens? I know you won't fail it but the visa officer might be kinda of curios about that. So you can explain that you were given this conditional admission because you are interested in applying your knowledge you gain in xxxxx to xxxxx so there is a need in the school syllabus that you take this courses. You can go ahead to say they already sent you some materials and some course outline ( which you can get on the school website) and you have already gone through them, took some text and it's going smoothly. Then you tell him that you already have a pre registration for the courses this summer before you start in full during the fall This is just to make a claim that your conditional admission isn't just for them to access your level of competence from your previous study before you start your new program. You have to try to back it up because VO won't look at it smiling without taking note. I guess other gurus have good suggestions as well. That's what I think from my end. All the best! 1 Like |

bartino: Wonderful answer from you bro, all your suggestions are noted, i graduated from department of management and accounting during my under graduates, so I was a little confused when they said I have to take foundation courses because I am going for MBA, but I guess the reason why they ask me to take foundation course was because on the online form I filled while I was applying for admission , I took Masters in business administration / Human Resources management. So I guess that was why the school said I would take foundation courses, because was wondering not like am changing field from let's say engineering to management . But I wrote the school already and am waiting for their response tomorrow morning , once again thanks so much for the ay you analyzed this situation all points noted |

DimmyCho: Forget about that story ooo.... what will work for X might not work for Y ... lots of people are never given second chances once there is a fraud or red flag So you do what best for you. If you are serious them take test and apply to standard proper university. I saw the 3 list of schools u applied. Did u take any test ? ... the other 2 . Their wiki shows both are small private schools. I would advice you again, apply to a standard school. |

Awesu122: Lol! Thank "god" you realized EARLY after 4 attempts?? Did you think the prior VOs had no idea what they were talking about when they clearly told you this school was not good? Unfortunately you've damaged your credibility. 4 attempts at this school tells them you are not a serious student (else you would have been more diligent in your search), and you're desperate. A very easy way to tell if a school is bad - a majority of its faculty are minorities. 2 Likes |

YorubaNigga: YorubaNigga:sometimes you may have some glitches or hitches in your interview though you might still be a genuine student but maybe some of your answers may not be satisfactory now if I see your bank statement and there's loads of cash I may decide to have pity on you and grant you your visa because I feel you can afford it also...to me oh that's how I see it..then to avoid it by given everyone equal opurtunity cos someone may come with a hefty statement and yours is not that hefty I may give the guy with more hefty statement if your in the same situation meanwhile if I had given you the chance you maybe able to get other opportunities like scholarships and also have good qualities and resources that can be of benefit to the society but I didn't give you a chance now in order to avoid such decisions I'm gonna give everyone equal chances so I wouldn't be needing your your statement that means now its up to you to impress or convice me why I should give you a visa aka you're on your own so what do you have to offer |
