That's a shame.

There are sawmills in the US that will only buy and process a certain percentage of regrown trees. That's how much they are committed to preserving the source of their raw materials.

Then make sure that wood is well treated with Anti-termites solutions like Solignum.

Hajji M.

i thoguht this treament is not needed if wood is "original" and "strong"?. when i wanted to do my roof, i brought this issue up but the guy told me they use solignum if the woods are not strong. How true is that?. I wanted to ask spyder880 before i roofed mine but skipped my mind.

Also, you, oga spyder and egunmogaji , which is comes first, windows and door or POP?. I dont want my nice doors and windows get messed up with dust.

Thanks in advance

I'll defer to Spyder880 and co,.

I did windows, then plastering plus doors, then pop, then floors. Pop was messy as can be, perhaps it was my guy.

Now knowing what I know now, I would do plastering plus windows and doors, then pop with strict instructions to the POPer. The windows can be wrapped with plastic.

Oh, I also removed my window nets before the clusterfuck started.

I also did not treat the wood of the garage apartment roof, carpenter swore up and down that it was not necessary but would take my money to do it if I insisted. I did however treat the wood for the gateman house. The main house roof will also get treated if I don't use steel.

Hello Everyone,
I was informed about a new design ceiling POP "PVC" type with different colors to choose from that is "the in thing" and in market now; different from our traditional POP. Anyone have an idea and pictures?.

I do not care if the wood is young or old... I treated all my woods.. I cannot afford any termites... small money for Solignum or treatment.

I always do my windows/burglary first.. then POP/screeding because of the mess... then if steel doors, before tilings... if wooden doors after tiling.
Yes... you should not get your doors meesed-up... but your windows cannot get messed-up either way.

Good morning all and I wish well. Got some quotes for my alum windows. The cheapest (in fact quite a big saving compared to others) is using 4mm thick glass. With the expensive quotes, some are using 4mm and others 5mm glass. One of them is advising against using 4mm glass! What do you guys think? Is using 4mm glass going to be a costly mistake?

DO NOT, Repeat do not use so called 4mm glass. As with all metric measure in Nigeria, it's actually 3mm. The so called 4mm (3mm) is fragile, intricate so breaks easily which is wasteful. 4mm (3mm) glass in wrong hands is an after instalment challenge to the home owner or tenants as the rubber seal between the glass and the alum frame go skwed in no time with the sharp edges of the glass exposed.

As casement/sliding windows in Nigeria are rerely double glazed, 4mm (3mm) is a very poor noise dampener. So if your Gen Set is behind your window, the noise can be deafening.

Go for a thicker glass: 10mm to start with. If you struggle to achieve this, it should be well over 5mm.

Okay, thank you very much for the advice. And when the windows are made/delivered, is it easy and straightforward to measure the thickness to confirm the thickness, as Nigerians being Nigerians you are never sure you are getting what you paid for! smiley

If you've got calipher, it could be done albeit tricky. Do this during construction. If they deliver to site and the measurements don't meet specification, what would you do? Reject the work? Then your problem starts here.

Not too sure how practical it is to actually go to start measuring it during construction at where it is being constructed. Even if this was possible, it could still be switched between when you measured and when it's delivered if the fabricator is determined smiley So, a more practical solution is probably to warn the fabricator beforehand that you will be measuring the thickness of the glass on delivery and any discrepancy will result in forfeiture of his balance smiley

Make it rise enter next month "In Sha Allah".

If they artificially modulate it as they've been doing, sure it will fall. But if they stop then it will rise catastrophically.

We simply need to earn not spend dollars.

The IMF warned a couple of days ago that the Naira is over valued at £450 by 20%. Since then there's the current steady slide of the Naira to about £475 now. The temporary boost to the Naira value is as a result of government intervention by dipping into the foreign reserve. This is just a stop gap knee jerk reaction. This can't be sustained as plundering the foreign reserve to temporarily support the Naira is a questionable economic decision, supported by the IMF statement we will see a further slide in the value of the Naira.

As at current economic perenthesis, the real value of the Naira is £550. So prices have currently improved in recent times with the government intervention but this is not expected to continue in its bi-weekly form as the intervention is not sustainable in the long term. Prices will further go north as the Naira moves to £550 in value. Make use of the temporary drop in some prices and buy big budget materials like rods, cement, tiles now!

Is the quote for the photos you attached ? If yes, where did you use flashing of N85k ?

Bending for N8k cheap o. Are you sure?

Transport of N25k; it depends sha. Could be cheaper if factory is not too far.

What about loading/off loading? Is this in accessories?

The flashing is thesame as flat sheet and is 39m*#2,200 to get that #85,800 and the 8k is the bending fees to get the ridges, gutters, eve angles and rest.. Depend on the pieces..
For the transport that amount is the agreement BTW the driver and the owner becos is not compulsory u pay it into the company acct becos they is a lot of driver in da factory..

For the loading and offloading the client can just tip off the loaders and when deir gt to site he can tip does driver.. Although is not compulsory when come to Aluminum roofing

But for stone coated is compulsory you pay for loading n offloading

So for the accessories.. That include
Nails,sinbolt,flash band,washer,inches nails,vet
