So Fabio Coentrao was formerly a left winger when younger? shocked

Wow! I never knew that... we learn everyday indeed...

Little wonder he was so brilliant as a left back when at Madrid before he left... beautiful player smiley

But with Musa Yahaya... well... time will tell...

TheGoodJoe:

Maybe, the coach sees something in Yahaya and the possibility of him making a good right back. I felt gutted when Coentrao got converted from a left winger to a left back. With time he became quality and played that role for Real Madrid. Before then, he was one of the most creative wingers I watched as a youngster.

Let us give the coach time.

Stephen Odey Strengthens Claims For Super Eagles Call-Up After Scoring In Front Of Rohr

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr was among the spectators at the Agege Township Stadium for Sunday's Nigerian Professional Football League clash between Mountain of Fire FC and El-Kanemi Warriors.

As previously reported by allnigeriasoccer.com , the German tactician was at the venue to run the rule over the top stars on both teams, including Stephen Odey, Onuwa Chukwuka and Sikiru Olatunbosun.

Odey strengthened his claims for a Super Eagles call-up when he netted his fourteenth league goal from the spot in the 45th minute.

Apart from winning the CNN Goal of the Week last month, Olatunbosun showed why he has been one of the stars in the NPFL this season and must have impressed Rohr after netting his fifth goal just before the half-hour mark.

Gernot Rohr was impressed with the tactical awareness exhibited by both teams, stating that they were well organized.

Super Eagles Star Fires Brace, Picks Up Assist For Osmanlispor FK In 4-1 Win

Osmanlispor FK put up a superb display in their 4-1 rout of Raheem Lawal's Kayserispor on match day 27 in the Turkish Super Lig on Sunday, April 9.

Nigeria international Aminu Umar continues to impress following his return from injury, grabbing the headlines with a brace and assist for the capital side.

The 22-year-old opened the scoring in the 15th minute and restored his team's one-goal advantage a minute to half time after the home team equalized.

Ten minutes into the second half, Guven scored to make it 3-1, with Aminu providing the assist for the goal.

This season, the Dream Team VI star has struck nine times from 34 appearances in all competitions.

u said the league has improved. sorry to say this
the league is in shabbles...psychologically the players can't make a good SE team...
reason because of this away loose mentality and home win mentality....
rarely do they win their away chan qualifiers...

sometimes I wish we could have a league as developed as the Tunisian or RSA league...with that kind of league....we will win the world cup wit little stress

To be honest I am shocked. Kano fans have been some of the best in Nigeria but we have to admit that every human is capable of a moment of utter madness. I am in support of a stadium ban and more measures put in place to protect every stadium not just Kano. We need to train our police specifically for this kind of issue.
kano fans for where...
how do u think kano pillars maintain 10 years unbeaten record if not with fans threat
kano pillars match made me quit watching NPFL matches...

I think Musa needs to move on. If he comes on and scores a brace in this game then maybe I will have a rethink. he already had a couple goals this season.
I personally don't think the premier league is suited for him. Having speed is not the only criteria. Raneiri learned this the hard way.

exactly... technically he has so much to learn.
I knew for sure...the move to EPL was a wrong move...because he only rely on his pace..and nothing else...
well I wish he could head back to Russia

For your viewing pleasure. Coentrao vs New Zealand in the World Youth Championship. I thought he was the next Cristiano Ronaldo. This was in 2007. A tournament that boasted of an array of young stars.

From Begovic, Isla, Medel, Vidal, Sanchez, Pique, Mario Suarez, Granero, Capel, Mata, Adrian Lopez, Sunday Stephen (later played for Nigeria), Cacares, Cavani, Luiz Suarez, Giovani Dos Santos, Carlos Vela, David Luiz, Luis Adriano, Pato, Jo, Willian, Renato Augusto, Marcelo, Aguero, Di Maria, Pererinha, Rui Patricio, Bruno Gama, Vitor Pele, Fred Adu and a host of others.

I agree with you. I remember once when they attacked Eagle Cement fans and players. I think this was in the late nineties. Destroyed their bus and the players ran for their lives. It was a terrible time for Nigerian football back then.

Kano Pillars fans are terrible.

cheesy

I Made it simple my man. Not complex. Mikel = Sleek player.

Another way to look at it is smooth. If you look at Maradona and Messi play, you can not call their play smooth. Definitely, you can tag that to Mikel and Busquets.
I don't get this argument...is sleek the same thing as elegance? Oh and Messi is smooth on the ball. The way he controls the ball at speed is smooth.

I don't know why clubs hire fans in the Nigerian leagues. I know some clubs pay street rogues and all that to wear their jerseys and come to the stadium. when they do this the supposed fans would always want to show their true colours by assaulting officials etc.

I remember Ikorodu v Delta Force when they were defeated, these same tout looking fans threatened Dodo Manyana and Maurice Corman and even their own players.
they couldn't threaten the ref because he was outstanding in that game.

Today as well these same fans were threatening NFF officials and the Referee funny thing is the ref gave them a penalty and they lost it.

Now let's compare the hired fans to the voluntary fans of remo star. tho they make noise and all that but they take as fate when the team loses in sagamu, I v been there.

so I believe the touts among the fans are the ones causing these troubles and that's a reason y fans ownership of clubs would only further destroy our league as fans will control everything even up to the match day squad.
that is one of the major reasons y Ikorodu utd are aving problems, fans want to have a say in the activities of the team and it's not done that way

The answer is bolded. That shows the kind of player Messi is. He is not smooth.

If I use elegant, the Drills Jab crew will say, the way Messi dribbled David Luiz was elegant. grin

these fans need to be sensitized, when a team is bad it's bad. That Ikorodu team is very poor very very poor, yet the fans think the ref would be the one to help them win. very bad.

what is the NNL doing ryt that the NPFL is doing wrong.
these are weekend results from the NNL, Southern Conference alone ni oo the northern conference has not been added and there are two away wins without any form of troubles and controversy.
That's how it is every weekend since this season started at least there would be an away win each from both of the conferences or one in all conferences

I think the LMC are slow to sanction teams and when they do they are too lenient. This is NNL'S punishment for a similar occurrence that happened two weeks ago in the NNL

We both know that GoodJoe won't let you win although you already have, just let it slide. Heard a rumour about Bance coming to the NPFL, what do you think about that? Is it true?
I read about it and to be honest, I am pleasantly surprised. I hear minor details in the contract are being trashed out.
I expect more of these sort of transfer to the NPFL. I don't know what happened to the Yobo deal to Kano pillars last year. But the Nigerian league should be at the level ex internationals especially from West Africa come back in the twilight of their careers.
Won't be bad having guys like Adebayo, Essien, Odewingie etc

I hope the LMC in whatever capacity it can step in to make the Bance deal happen.

Put things in perspective.

Forget how we may think that KC is the new Messi and be less biased and more objective.

KC is fresh out of the academy literally and does not have the track record, experience and hefty price tag in comparison to Sane and Stones.

In reality he is still a baby in the premiership and also in City. Where all the players around him have pedigree.

I do not think Pep is being biased just ruthlessly efficient and undeniably unsentimental.

In the last 7/8 years tell me one player out of the City academy that has played as many games as KC. He KC has actually done exceptionally well, this is a high pressure top club.

oga i was not the one that bring messi and co into the agument, so because kc is not good as messi he should stay at city drilling under pep than going somewhere to get game time. And you think you are not bias and been objective when you said success is a waste or kc is not good but defend england born players then i think you are the most bias person on this thread

Who told u this doesn't go on around the world. Did u watch the Euro qualifiers? Croatia had to get a match stopped because of crowd violence. There was also a brawl between teams and their fans. In South Africa which is the best league in Africa, Orlando Pirates fans ran on the field and tried to attack the sundown players because they were getting their azzes handed to them. These things happen everywhere. Emenike's club in Turkey were attacked, a Cameroonian was killed in North Africa not too long ago. 45% of players in DR Congo told a FIFAPRO report that they had been attacked by fans sometimes their own. Rivers United were attacked in Sudan etc.

Rohr Will Deliver 2018 World Cup Ticket - Pascal

By Augustine Akhilomen

Super Eaglesteam coordinator, Patrick Pascal has confidently affirmed that the team has nothing but the goal of qualifying for the 2018 World Cup.

The 2013 Africa Cup of Nations champions are top of Group B with six points in their World Cup campaigns under team's manager, Gernot Rohr as they have won two matches, beating Zambia 2-1 and Algeria 3-1 respectively.

Nigeria are next to face the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon on August 28 in an encounter that could determine the fate of both teams.

It would be recall that the Nigeria Football Federation has mandated the German tactician to either qualify the team for the World Cup or face the exit door, something which could put the technical crew under immense pressure.

However, Pascal revealed to Soccernet.com.ng that the team's priority is to qualify for the World Cup and Rohr's isn't far from it.

"Nobody loves to fail in every field of life and I believe Super Eagles technical adviser, Gernot Rohr has a game plan to succeed with the senior national team," Pascal told Soccernet.com.ng.

"We are already top of group B with six points and our focus is to maintain our balance without looking backward till the end of the World Cup campaign. Besides, I believe in Rohr's technical and tactical knowledge to overcome any threat that Cameroon and Algeria will pose in the remaining fixtures," he said.

It is the whole Nigeria. Last year i can remember MFM, Warri and Ikorodu being sanctioned for bad fans. Remember Enyimba had to lift their trophy in Lagos a couple years ago. Akwa and Enyimba had this same issue some years back and I pray that this doesn't go to the level of retaliation.

VIDEO: Fatau Dauda's Enyimba suffer barbaric attack at Katsina United in Nigeria

The Africa game keeps bleeding with inhuman acts as players of former Nigerian champions Enyimba FC were subjected to massive beatings by fans of Katsina United after a Nigerian Premier League game on Sunday.

The barbaric act vested on the team resulted in Ghana goalie Fatau Dauda and some other players suffering cuts on their legs and heads as the Katsina United fans pestered them with stones.

The incident which appeared like a Hollywood war movie saw players of Enyimba FC running for safety in their team bus as the few security men around could not little to stop the stone throwing Katsina United fans.

The irate fans vested their spleen on the innocent Enyimba FC team bus sheltering the players getting all the windows of the bus and the windscreen broken.

The unprovoked fans gave no respect to team officials of the visiting team as they also received their share of the beatings.
This sad incident happened despite Katsina United winning by 2-1.

The Nigerian Professional Football League Board is expected to take tough action against the perpetrators of the act.
