With particular reference to highlighted text, your score freezes immediately you get an ITA (even if your birthday falls the next day after receiving an ITA you wont lose points for age by virtue of that section - A11.2)
vcole:
@Spatz81, I carefully read through your post. That was a very important update to the rules that you brought to the fore. It means that if an applicant receives an ITA on say April 1st and has his birthday on May 1st and submits his eAPR on May 1st or after, whenever the immigration officer begins to review his application for eligibility checks (i.e. A11.2), he stands the chance of being denied permanent residence based on not being eligible if by virtue of losing points for age, his CRS drops below the required cut off for the draw in which he was invited.
However, if he submits after his birthday and yet even with the points lost for age, his CRS still meets or surpasses the cut off for the draw, his application would be fine. Also, if he goes ahead to submit his eAPR before his birthday on May 1st, his app would be fine.
Bottom line - once you receive an ITA, endeavour to submit your eAPR before your next birthday if you know that your CRS less 5 points would make you fall below the cut off for your draw.

@bimpsy99, pls take note that "your application would not be refused" is not the same as having a successful outcome.

@esosa4real, I got my passport back siiiiiincceee in February. It only took 5 days. Don't worry about your medicals, sometimes it gets updated quickly, other times it takes a while.

@40manlappy,congrats. This has been a long time coming. I wish you a smooth sail from here on.

@markab, I am female oh. I often wonder why "thanks bro" is the default response when someone gives a reply. Is it only men that provide answers? #justsaying

@lochinny, medical doctors can only evaluate their degrees through MCC and pharmacists can only evaluate theirs through PEBC, any other evaluation done by any other evaluating agency would be declared null and void by IRCC. If your husband is the PA and his estimated crs scores WITHOUT evaluating your own degree is 459, then y'all may want to write ielts and get his own degree evaluated and get into the pool asap to take advantage of the wind of low cut off draws.

@ugoiyke79e, that eAPR form can be dicey. You may have to fill all the info again seeing as it wiped off.

Greetings to all. Congrats to all new ITA recipients. And to the hopefuls, hang in there. It'll happen soon.

P.S.
If anyone new here sent me PMs, pls kindly endeavor to ask your questions here as I would be unable to respond to the messages via email.

Appreciate if anyone can provide guidance: With respect to uploading passport data page post ITA, is the requirement just the passport data page or do I have to include pages with visa, stamps and markings? And also, do I have to do this for all my passport (have 3 expired passport with visas and stamps on them too).

thanks all. Great work by everyone based on the logistics!!

Thank you for the above message. I have a case at hand. My bank GTB claimed that they cannot give me a Reference letter because the account is a savings not a current account. They claimed they can only give me a Statement of Account with stamps. Will teh SOA only be sufficient for the application?
Please i need your prompt reply, Thank you
vcole:
On the issue of ECA or evaluation of credentials for the purpose of Canadian skilled migration, please note that IRCC specifically states that ONLY YOUR HIGHEST QUALIFICATION needs to be evaluated. This is stated clearly on their website complete with examples of possible scenarios. I do understand that some applicants may be concerned about possessing a "highest qualification" that may not necessarily be in the same area of study as the qualification that may support their current or previous work experiences. In these cases, please note that the IRCC rule still applies. Evaluate only your highest qualification. However, you can mention your other qualification (s) under education and indicate that you did not obtain an ECA for them.

On the issue of POF and bank letters and bank accounts. Please note that the IRCC states that a bank letter for ALL bank accounts of the principal applicant detailing the average balance over a period of 6 months and stating that there are no loans, etc etc is required. in Nigeria, since most banks do not issue letters in the IRCC format, a reference letter from your bank (s) in whatever format they routinely issue alongside a 6 months' bank statement has proven sufficient thus far. So, for all who have questions as regards what to submit if POF is in t bills, FD, etc etc etc. Please note the ALL above and be guided.....submit your other accounts ....ref letters and bank statements alongside other evidence of POF in FD or Tbills.

As for document size......use pdfmerge to merge your scans. you can also scan at 200dpi instead of 400dpi. Then reduce size of merged file online. As long as it remains legible, you should be fine.

As regards WES process and IQAS process of verification.......once IQAS receives your academic transcript alongside a completed request for academics records form from your school, they do not send another verification via mail or email to your school. WES however, has been known to send a verification request to your school after receiving your transcript and docs.

Good evening everyone.

NYSC is treated as employment and sits under personal history if and only if you are not claiming employment points for the time spent doing the NYSC. However, if you are claiming employment points for NYSC, then you have to move it to work history and please note that you will be required to provide a reference letter from your employer.

All the best!

Please a follow up question to this .Am not yet in the ITA but I saw someone form and these questions struck me
So the form says reference letter from your previous and current employer. My NOC for the application is for my prvious job between 2007-2012 . So the only reference I need is from this job and not my current employer right and include my present job in my personal details

Then for someone who is self employed what proof of employment woukd he submit- certificate of incopration ,tax returns , company bank statement . Is there any other thing?

Then for certificates I have a diploma and degree certificate . I only evaluated my degree , is that the only certificate and my eca/ielts I would upload or I have to upload my diploma ( I only have a statement of result)

Hi Guys,

I have a sister who currently resides in canada. One of the documents(aside PR card and birth certificate) to be submitted when ITA is received is a document from my sister to prove that she resides in Canada. Here's an excerpt from the cic site:

- Evidence that the family member currently resides in Canada must be provided (a residential lease, mortgage documents, utility bills, etc.).

The documents should be up to date as of six months prior to submission.

Now, I asked my sister for utility bill and she says she doesn't have one. She says she has a phone bill though.

My question is, is the phone bill a sufficient document to show as proof of residence in Canada? Will CIC accept it?

They don't have utility bills in Canada, its their phone bill they use as utility bill. Same thing happened to me when I applied to visit my spouse in 2015. Utility is embedded in their house rent i think so they don't pay for it seperately. You can attach her tenancy agreement.

Following cos I have a savings account with GTB too, not requested for bank statement yet though, someone on this thread said that they can give a statement they give to Pensioners. Not sure what this is. Please house clarify.

Hi Vcole and Fusion23

Please how did you eventually resolve GTB and CIC format for POF. Thanks

vcole:
I believe your proof of funds can be either a current or savings account as long as it contains unemcumbered funds and is in your name.
We are in the same boat as regards this. Gtbank had earlier informed me that they would issue the reference letter in the IRCC format only to get back to me yesterday after two weeks that they would be unable to do so and they can only issue a generic letter. Quite annoying because this is not even the account where my pof funds are in and has been the bank delaying my submission for a week now. Well, get their generic letter, six months bank statement and write a letter of explanation. That is what I am doing.

Hello house, please do I need letter of reference from present n all previous employers? Or just from employers you are claiming points for?

From the CRS calculator I got 460 points (with a possible 15 points in June for sibling in Canada). Registered wifey for ielts. Can't register mine cos no material to print passport since early March (useless immigration service. Mscheeww). Can't wait to dive into the pool now dat cut off is low. My target is to be out of this country by January 2018 by God's grace.

From digging the archives I found this grin, this may be useful for anyone that did online study or like ACCA, UK here in Nigeria when you actually didn't go to the UK. Please avoid complications and write a simple LOE that you studied fully in Nigeria and didn't have to visit UK for that purpose.

AlphaNumero:

Just to add... if you do an online degree, be sure to mention in your LOE at the point of application that it is an online. Otherwise, CIC will expect you to include the PCC for the country where you got the degree. There is an assumption that you lived in the country.

You only need employer reference for the work experience you stated in your EE profile, once you meet the 3 years qualification, you can include your past employer in the work history section upon getting your ITA.

As per the passport, news on the nairaland confirms that the papers are becoming available and they are trying to clear backlog, expoect the good news soon and please keep the house posted so we can confirm that the paper is truly available.

Hello everyone..gtb has refused to indicate balance on the account on the letter ..the only thing they did was to indicate when the account was opened and type.please who else had the same problem and how was it fixed..we decided to collect the statement of account but it is just too much as most transaction happens on account.are we suppose to upload the statement for six months ignoring the fact that it is many.the account that has the bulk of the money has just small statement as it is for savings and we got a letter from the bank indicating the balance for the last six months..gtb is just a supporting account to balance the pof.please help..

If its savings account they dont give reference , ask for the letter they give to pension on savings and instead put the cic address they charge for that. Six months banks statements too, GTB is a silly bank that letter with 6 months banks statement is better than 6 months bank statement alone..

If you are lucky to get PPR before the expiry date of your passport, they won't issue visa on the passport. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months for theme to put the visa.

If your application exceeds 6 months and your passport expires before PPR, you will be given 7 days to submit a new passport. I know this cos we were in the same situation. My husby's passport expired during the processing of our application. We had to submit a new one within 7 days.

My advice is this: apply for a new passport immediately. If you don't get it before submission, use the old one. Once you get the new passport, send the scanned copy of the new one via CSE.

With regard to large deposit from spouse, the spouse will just write a simple LOE that he/she transfered the said amount to support the family's plan to immigrate to Canada. I can send you a draft of what my husby wrote.

It beats me how you highlighted the portion of my post you responded to without reading the paragraph above it. Immigration rules change all the time and for any intending migrant, it is important to always keep tabs. You may want to go a few pages back and read the post by spatz81 which shows that IRCC appears to have updated the rules such that if you do have a birthday after ITA and before submission of eAPR, you lose those 5 points.

hi -

The instruction icon on next to the upload button states that you must provide a copy of the page that shows your birth date, and the country of origin AND any pages with stamps, visas and markings.

To be on the safe side, I'd advise you do this for all your passports (to avoid any delays in them asking for further documents)...that's what I did in my case. It shouldn't be a hassle even if you are a frequent traveller, lol....a few minutes at the scanner or printer wouldn't hurt.

All the best!

IELTS Material -

Google IELTS Liz and IELTS Buddy...these materials will help with your study in addition to the British Council materials on their webpage. For the speaking test, you can go on YouTube and check examples...

I'm not familiar with GRE...hopefully someone else will be able to answer this.
