emeify: lol...... If u are d VO reviewing d application, will u be patient enough to read through 15 pages of SOP when u still have other documents to look at? my guy, I will advise u trim it down to at most 2 pages. hit the points don't over emphasize it may lead to more questions about your application by the VO. 1 Like |

emeify: Since you are turning it to real thesis, what chapter are you? Lol! Just kidding. Remove stories like "when I was a child...." and leave reasonable points like "my undergraduate research was about...., During my study in Canada, I will research ......, I will be sponsored by my .... " and put few sentences as evidences buttressing it. In fact a good SOP/LOE will address every reason a visa officer will consider to reject your application. Each paragraph in the essay or letter address just a single point. Personally, i prefer not more than 2 pages. Be warned: all I said are just my personal opinions. I am not an expert in visa application nor VO. Thank you. 5 Likes 2 Shares |

Hi, I also applied for student visa for my PhD last month. I applied for both TRV and study permit. Please is there a way to contact CiC for a feedback on the application? School resumes in May and I'm a bit concerned that time is going. Dunna: |

But seriously......I tried to address all aspects - purpose of visit, travel history, why canada? why Uni of Saks, current employment status, and employment prospects. How in heavens name can I address all these in 2 pages? @Osemigho, how many pages was yours? I remember @michv or @thesoj's brothers SOP that he claimed was long and got him a TRV. I am just afraid of letting some information out. Also, will i break up the SOP into parts - like the finances - will that be uploaded differently? Osemigho: |

Joshcoli:A very important question you would likely answer either with evidence or a strong statement of intent/purpose is the rationale behind the decison to go for this program. You didn't mention if you have any work experience but notwithstanding, the aviation industry has a general shortfall of professionals and most times, there is always need for more of them. I guess you are going for a pgd/pgc in the field and if you can REALLY expantiate further on your choice of this program, you possibly could stand a good chance of getting a study permit. Let me give you instances to work around when completing your SOP. 1.That since most canadian university(ies) majorly do not accept HND for masters, you decided to apply for your program to enable you get an entry level knowledge for the aviation industry. Also give the citation of PGC/PGD being tailored to meet work place demand. 2. Make reference to the fact that the aviation industry evolution over the past years have seen the combination of all major engineering aspects with electrical engineering being a critical part of it. Dwell on the Avionics since it is the electronic system used on aircraft, artificial satelites and spacecraft which also reflect your intended program. The key thing should be that you know exactly why you are going for the program. 3. Highlight the general nigerian aviation sector in comparism to an environment with more cutting edge technological infrastructure both for learning and practicals. Make factual conclusion on how your study will generally impact you going into the aviation sector and how you intend to make such knowledge applicable in nigeria upon return. Finally, you can also use the fact that the location of the International Civil Aviation Organization(ICAO) headquarters in Montreal, canada will avail you the opportunity to relate and study from seasoned experts from all part of the word while you study and project your aviation desirables. Your PURPOSE of going to canada must be convincing before you then consider all your financial capability(ies). Hope these will be helpful. All the best to you. 7 Likes |

Chimumsy20:Am sorry to say this, it's misleading cox have gotten lots of pm's about dis linking ish, let all information b supplied just as u entered it in ur visa form. Some monikers here can bear witness to that. Most of dem kept saying i saw dis on NL that we should not put DOB n d likes. Please fill the form as it coms, it doesn't take 3mins to link an application if all information r properly filled. |

emeify: My usual format is below. Each time I follow it, I usually feel exhausted at page 1.5 - 2. Can't remember using another since last year. Please note that you don't have to use it, and I am just a visa applicant like you. Visa or admission SOP? Generally, any of the above must answer question of why you are writing it. Sample format. Paragraph 1: your interest. What you have done in my interest (briefly). Why you are writing the SOP. Para 2 or 3: what you did in my interest(major one). How you did it. What you got from it Including awards and excellent grade. How it influence what you want to do. Para 2 or 3: what you want to do. How you want to do it. What you hope to achieve with it. Para 4: your goal. Why you believe your goal is related to what you are writing the SOP for. What you desire by writing the SOP. Optional paragraph for Visa: how you will finance your study. How you got (if scholarship) and or why (if relative or friend) that option of finance. Evidence of finance as included in documents submitted. Optional paragraph for Visa: what you have as home tie as included in documents submitted. Why they are home tie. What you intend to do with them upon end of study. Generally, stick to 1-1.5 pages max if max pages n't specified. Thank you. Nice format. Just to add Para 2 or 3: What you are doing currently. **very important Thanks to Almeida3 for the last comment. 9 Likes 3 Shares |
