Henry240:No squadron is fully manned at peacetime even in wartime. The number of planes allows the air force to deploy, safe guard, train and maintain airframes simultaneously. You can even ask someone like Nemesis2u. |
Re: African Militaries Strictly Discussions Thread. by Nobody: 6:25pm On Apr 11, 2017 |
MikeCZA: We are talking about the inability of the SAAF to raise any decent number of Gripen pilots in 18 years. Your Air Force constantly has to beg SAA for pilots. The number of planes was as a result of the fact the SAAF Gripens were mothballed before a public out cry. Your flight time is low, the force still finds it difficult to buy fuel for an aircraft that is supposedly cheap to fly. The SAAF us a complete embarrassment. |

Henry240:- did i say SAAB was wrong retardo?? I fvcking agreed that the Gripen is one of the easiest 4th gen fighters in the world to fly.........or are you so fvcking illiterate that you couldn't fully comprehend what was written in my post? - 13 Pilots......Which is more than the entire operational NAF fleet. - No NAF doesn't........... SAAF is the 2nd oldest air force in the world, and has flown Combat sorties in almost all of the majors wars since the last century...........SAAF has been around 40 years longer than your fvcking country. - You might think 7 operational platforms is a lot.......but really it isn't much, even Lesotho has more operational platforms! - You mean real white men fly combat missions for Nigeria.......as proven by VICE. |

quote author=jln115 post=55480512] Yeah i know!! shocking how someone can say the Gripen is not worth 65 million yet Air forces around the world prefer it above much cheaper and according to Henry much more capable aircraft.
You've gone full retar3d with this one. No, Air Forces around the world do not prefer the Gripen. Only Sweden the maker and South-Africa, a very unfortunate buyer has the jet in any meaningful numbers. The Gripen should not cost above 25 million, it is simply an overpriced piece of western kit, which happens to compete in a light category were there are no Western alternatives. Fact, if the Gripen was Russian it would go for 10 - 15 million, same price range as the Yak-130. I never said the Gripen is a capable aircraft. |

MikeCZA:Mike, the problem is that no rational discussion can be had with this fellow. The arrogant ignorance ensures someone who crows about the Saudis offering the NAF line maintenance of its Hercs, not realising it for the insult it is. 1 Like |

Henry240: Only Sweden and South Africa you say......I guess Thailand(up to 40), Hungary(12) ,Czech Republic(14) , Brazil(up to 120) don't count? Over priced yet, it's chosen above the much cheaper Su30 If it was Russian it would be cheap i agree........because it will be sh1t like the JF17. Lastly comprehension seems to be a major problem for you lately, since i never said you said the Gripen was a capable aircraft. |

frumentius: The problem with you South-Africans is, your utter stupidity. A Saudi company, a company that does not represent the Saudi government or interests. Any company with favourable terms is free to do business in Nigeria. Don't blame the Saudis for taking advantage of that. Like I've multiple times, NAF carries out all PDM in Nigeria by itself, including comprehensive overhauls. This is the alternate universe you stupid South-Africans leave in, you use Cubans to maintain Your Own military vehicles, vehicles you claim to have built, yet you point fingers at Nigeria. LMFAO!! |

jln115: Thai Air Force has ordered 12 Gripens, the service only has 7 in service. Brazilian Gripens are the E/F variants Hungary and Czech Gripens are loaned not bought. Like I said, only an unfortunate SAAF fly them in any huge numbers. Thailand buys purely western aircrafts, there is only one aircrafts of Russian origin in Thai service. With the JF-17 we are getting a solid aircraft comparable to the F-16 block 52. A fighter that provides the bang for the buck. We couldn't have made a better cost effective choice. I can assure you, we won't spend 18 years training 9 pilots. . ...i said Iit is good, I never said capable, I also went on to say it isn't worth 65 - 70 million, the best price should be 25 million. |

jln115: What white men, can you post the faces of this white men flying Nigerian aircrafts? What I know, not think is the fact that the SAAF is a completely incompetent force that cannot fly it's aircrafts, cannot fuel it's aircrafts, cannot maintain them, has low flying hours, apart from the VIP squadron and constantly has to beg a commercial airliner for pilots. These are facts! SAAF doesn't have more than 9 Gripen pilots, we all know this. The DA's former shadow minister, exposed the SAAF for the fraud it is. If the plane is so easy to fly, why is the SAAF struggling to get pilots to fly them? The country lacks the men to fly the world's simplest jet!! Utterly ridiculous and pathetic. |
Re: African Militaries Strictly Discussions Thread. by MikeCZA: 7:04pm On Apr 11, 2017 |
Henry240:Pilots aren't kept with the squadron which operates the Gripens. Austerity measures means the Gripens are rotated. Let's now address the issue of flight hours you are they are low but what air force in Africa are comparing them with? Embarrassment? Not necessarily when the air force is still capable of deploying numbers like these: Note no other air force in sub Saharan Africa can! if you dispute this name one.

Henry240: Do you even know what line maintenance is? I'll help you out directly from the horse's mouth: Line maintenance, which is often completed within a short period of time and does not require specialized equipment, training or facilities, can be performed either on the flight line or on-site at a customer’s premises. Now tell me, why do you need a Saudi company to perform what every other respectable air force does in-house? 1 Like |

frumentius: AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE: ALSALAM AEROSPACE EXPRESSES DESIRE TO PARTNER NAF The Alsalam Aerospace Industries of Saudi Arabia has expressed the desire to be involved in the line Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) C-130H aircraft. This was disclosed today by the Vice President of the company, Aloraifi Abdulaziz when he led other top management team on a courtesy visit to the Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar at the Headquarters NAF in Abuja. The delegation had earlier inspected the NAF C-130 facilities in Lagos and presented its report to the NAF for consideration and possible collaboration. In his response, the CAS reaffirmed the importance of the C-130 aircraft in support of the counterinsurgency operation in the North East and urged the company to look beyond the commercial benefit by focusing on the humanitarian aspect. “We thank you for coming and we believe you have all it takes to support the NAF and by extension humanity. We have no doubt that you have the excellent capacity to deliver based on your technical know-how. We therefore urge you to consider the partnership as service to humanity,” Air Marshal Abubakar said. Read you dumb fvck it is not a crime . No wonder the SANDF is a mess, with guys like you in it. A whole area of possible partnership included, but the man with a mission decides to pick only one of the aforementioned areas of possible partnership. While you are at it, post evidence of Denel engineers working at the NAF C-130 workshop. I can post pictures of NAF engineers and other partners working, why don't you do the same? |

Re: African Militaries Strictly Discussions Thread. by Nobody: 7:25pm On Apr 11, 2017 |
MikeCZA: Pilots aren't kept there because you don't have them. Austerity measures = you don't have money for fuel. No more to train pilots, and no money to fly the planes, well apart from an airshow . Nigerian Air Force. Deploying numbers like that for a photoshoot. That's were they are potent, taking pictures. Yes, no other Air Force can take better photos than the SAAF. However the Nigerian Air Force is capable of deploying thousands of kilometres away from home, while conducting operations in the North-East and patrol ops in the gulf of guinea. This is an actual Air Force. |

Henry240: That's funny. Says the man who brought in Denel when posting about line maintenance. Did you miss the part where LM says Heavy maintenance and major inspections on any Lockheed Martin C-130 can only be performed either in-house at Lockheed Martin Authorized C-130 Hercules Service Centers or directly at the operator’s facilities.? Generator noise and fumes clearly have affected you. I'll help you out, they're talking about Denel and 9 other centres in the above quote. And don't pretend you didn't see that Denel Aviation ad I posted where they were recruiting people to work on NAF Hercs. 1 Like |

Henry240: - And? they ordered 12! - And? It's just an upgraded Gripen C, still basically the same aircraft with added performance.....basically like You're F7s vs Mig21s - They still operate it, if they wanted a different aircraft they would've loaned a different aircraft - They still chose it above the Su30.......If it was as sh1t/overly priced as you say they would've opted for a much cheaper aircraft. - With the JF 17 you're are getting a 3rd Gen upgraded mig 21! - Yes, you'll spend time training more pilots to complement your woeful 7 operational platform fleet......Rather than fighter pilots. - I fvcking know you never said it was capable......hence why i never said, you said it was capable retardo! 1 Like |
