A big thank you to lady G, seyewest and all the other gurus in the house...your contributions have been helpful! Today at the Lagos Consulate was a good day and almost every Window was doling out white paper especially to family people, only on few occasions the blue paper was given out! Fortunately I got the white paper! I have never applied for a visa before now I have never travelled out of Nigeria I am not married and not planning on getting married anytime soon I am just 27 I have No kids... Here is my transcript! Vo:Hello Me: Good morning Vo:Where in the US are you going? Me:New York City VO: why? Me: to attend my brother's graduation ceremony at Columbia University in the city of NY, I may as well seize the opportunity to do sight seeing, feel the architecture of the city so that when I return it will have a positive influence on my style of architecture Vo: are your parents travelling also? Me:No (vo turns and look at me in the eyes, I continued) reason being that my dad is aged and can't make long distance travel and my mum is very busy with her business, so they agreed I represent the family. Vo: what do you do? Me: I am an Architect Vo: what does that mean? Me: I do building designs and supervise the construction of buildings Vo: for how long? Me: 4 years Vo: when is the graduation? Me: may 17, 2017, (then brought out the guest reservation ticket from CU and gave to him, he examined it n returned it to me) Vo: are you married? Me: No, but I have a lovely family here,my parents and 4 other younger siblings Vo: oh, your brother is doing his OPT? Me: yes, he actually works with ports authority of NY n NJ. Vo starts typing, typing typing, then he asked again, your brothers name is xxxxx Me: yes...said the name with his accent Vo: you are Igbo? Me: yes Vo smiles and continue typing then he reached out to the white paper and said your visa has been approved, pick it up at the circled location in 3 working days Me: Thank you! With smiles and joy! NB: all through the interview the VO was looking at his computer, he only made occasional eyes contact, I even felt he wasn't listening to my stories cos I was verbose couldn't keep it brief... Thanks once again to all those that contributed to this thread...I rode to success on your shoulders! Anyone that knows how to get cheap flight to JFK please direct me. 21 Likes 2 Shares |

1. Went to Tanzania on December 24...returned December 26...attended US Interview December 29...where you travelling to get travel history for US Interview? 2. Went to Germany in February...now wish to reapply for US Interview... 3. I am not a VO, but straight off the bat, I could guess that you are travelling to all these places, to improve ur chances on getting a US Visa. 4. Can you be patient and reapply in December or next year? You might have more better chance... deemoni007: |

kolawoleoladipo: You're probably applying for the wrong visa category. Since you claim your wife has her family in the States, the reasonable visa category for you is Immigrant Visa. This shouldn't pose a problem except for the wait time or one or most of her family members went through shortcuts to secure their residence and or Greencard which means the negative effect could still rub on your application. If the initial error was not in previous misrepresentation either from you or your spouse you could still apply, taking all these into consideration. |

All protocols duly observed on this thread. I and hubby will have our annual leave in July, so we decided to go on ten days vacation in the US. We presently reside in Asia legally. Do you think our chances of getting visa in Nigeria would be higher than applying here in Qatar. All your responses are highly appreciated. Thank you. |
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 2 by Nobody: 3:55pm On Apr 11, 2017 |
Marytee2: You should apply in the country where your ties are the strongest, i.e. where you live and work. |

joinedjust: Perhaps I can help here: You do not need an invite letter. You do not need a statement of account. Read the U.S. website before you pay the visa fee. Do your research before you come for your interview. This is sound advice. You are free to bring all the reams of paper you can carry but after having personally done 30,000 interviews (and counting), I can't remember more than a handful of times I bothered asking for something. In fact, the more you try to show me the less I believe you. The only exception are old passports, especially if they show prior travel. Those, I do like to see. Regards, VO 15 Likes 1 Share |

Thank you @visaofficer! Your contribution was really helpful! You have helped resolve the conflicts. LadyG, all your advice and contributions have also been very helpful! I got a visa recently, no document was checked, I even forced my guest reservation ticket on the VO but he barely looked into it, I did a lot of research, reading atleast 80% of this thread, going through the US visa n immigration website, watched tutorials and demonstrations on YouTube about US visa interviews, read so many articles online about the visa process and interview! I listened to the interview of a lady who was denied on d 10th, she clearly lacked knowledge of the entire process, d VO even told her that he is confused with her application, that they don't seem to matchup. 2 Likes |

Sir I don't know if truly you are a VO or just a nickname but what I know is that if someone is going for a conference, he should go with his invitation letter should in case he/she is asked. I feel you comment should be you don't need an invite letter if you going on vacation. Truly those that want to show the VO things without being asked get less believe. It's advisable to go with all documents cus u never know what they will ask for. As for the passport, I have seen where a VO gave back the old passport without even looking at it. Those VO can have good and bad days that's all I see. VisaOfficer: |
