It is on this thread I discovered that it is Forsythe, not Grisham who wrote the novel. That I even got the name of the of novel wrong should tell you I missed it.

i seem to remember we had that book at home as well. some idealistic young man/ journalist dipping his foot in nazi hunter things.

plus devils alternative [my first forsyth book] h.rider haggard [solomons mines, she allan quatermain] george orwell [animal farm, 1984, keep the aspidistra flying , a clergy mans daughter, burmese days , coming up for air].

its sad. i have not bought books the way my dad did . in fact, at one point i actually disposed of six cartons of novels and CDs. [if i have electronic versions, whats the point?]

but i havent really picked up reading o devices. my son turns ten this year, and he is nowhere near as well read as i was at his age

I used to read it in the toilet so my older siblings won't see me.

I have forgotten the characters in Jack Daws but those ladies were awesome. I wonder why you dont like the novel though. Are you male?. I am guessing you are chauvinistic and thats why. Like you dont like female heroines... Thats just a joke though. Jack Daws is actually my favorite from Ken Follet.

I'm a female and I'm definitely not chauvinistic. .Ken Follet's The Third Twin is one of his best works and I so loved the main character who was a female cause she was totally badass. . .

over two thousand? hope u knw the different between novel, novelette, short stories and plays. novels are not less than 40,000 words o, even some scholars say it must be 60,000 and above. so any one less than this is not a novel. even some profs. of literature whose part of their work is reading hav not read up two thousand novels. I recognise some of those authors but I don't take note of authors, so long as it isn't about romance or sci-fi, I'm good

But my best all time fav are:
Sherlock Holmes( His use of deductive reasoning)
Agatha Christie(Her use of human behavior)
Both of em' in crime solving
