Abandoned $43,449,947, Other Monies Traced To Amaechi by emmasege: 11:33am On Apr 14, 2017 |
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has traced the abandoned $43,449,947, £27,800 and N23, 218,000 which was yesterday found at Osborne Towers, Ikoyi Lagos state to the Minister of Transportation, Mr.. Rotimi Amaechi. Nigerian Concord’s sources at the anti graft agency confided in us this evening that the agency has been alerted that the abandoned funds belong to Amaechi who had served as governor of Rivers State for eight years. According to the EFCC’s top official, Mr.. Amaechi bought the flat where the monies were found from the GTBank after the bank took over the whole building from a former National Chairman of the PDP who had also served as governor of BauChi state, Mr.. Adamu Muazu, when he couldn’t pay up the loan with which he built the house. The source added that it was when Muazu could not repay the loan that GTB took over the house and allocated the Pent House to him and two flats. It was gathered that Amaechi bought two of the flats, 7A and 7B, though he gave Flat 7A to MO Abudu, his secret female lover. The Transportation Minister had however kept the Flat 7B where the monies were found by the EFCC men to himself since the purchase. It was gathered that the flat is where Amaechi, as a governor then, was having secret political meetings anytime he was in Lagos state especially during the campaigns for the 2015 general elections. Further investigations showed that the minister decided to keep the funds in the Flat in preparedness for his 2019 presidential ambition in case his boss, President Buhari, decides not to seek for a re-election. These monies were believed to have been stolen by Amaechi when he was governor of Rivers State. It would be recalled that Amaechi, as the Director General of the Buhari/Osinbajo Campaigns Organization, donated several billions of NAira to the campaigns of President Buhari in 2015, a gesture which later earned him his present position, Minister for Transportation. When Nigerian Concord contacted Amaechi through his telephone number 08127770777, the minister agreed that he owns the apartment but cut off the line in order not to own up to the ownership of the funds. However, our source at the EFCC has confirmed that the agency would soon invite Amaechi for questioning the moment it is officially confirmed that he owns the funds. Another source also maintained that the EFCC may not invite Amaechi if Mr. Magu still remains the chairman of the agency owing to his close relationship with the minister. http://www.nigerianconcord.com.ng/2017/04/13/homepage-slider-297/ |

NgeneUkwenu:Why not ask the efcc to produce the owners of the funds instead of ranting about Ipob or PDP? Whoever blew the whistle must have furnished them with sufficient info in that regard. Remember when such funds were found in Andrew Yakubu's house, they broadcast the name of the owner and even arrested him, simply because he served in the last administration. This is why so many Nigerians have problem with the president's anticorruption fight. When a PDP affiliate is indicted, he crucifixes them and celebrates their case but when it's APC, he simply covers it up and looks the other way. Besides, I'm not Ipob if you must know. I'm from O'odua nation. 3 Likes |
