What will happen if an aluminium spoon is used to stir a solution of iron (II) trioxonitrates (V)?
A. The spoon will be oxidized while the iron (II) ions will be reduced to the metal
B. The spoon will increase in size
C. The spoon will be reduced while the iron (II) ions will be oxidized
D. The spoon will be reduced

A urine sample of a patient, tested with Benedict/Felling solution, gave an orange coloured precipitate,
indicating the presence of
A. glucose
B. sucrose
C. lactose
D. maltose

Optimist1998:
Which of the following statements is correct about sodium chloride in the solid state?
A. it exists as aggregates of ions
B. it conducts electricity
C. its melting point is below 100oC
D. it exists as discrete molecules
E. its ions are linked by metallic bonds

Which of the following reactions is not feasible?
A. Cl2 + 2Kl → 2KCI + I2
B. Cl2 + 2NaF → 2NaCI + F2
C. Zn + CuCI2 ZnCl2 + Cu
D. Zn + 2AgNO3 → Zn(NO3)2 + 2Ag
The second should be B. No way on earth chlorine displace flourine
I need time for d first one

I think I have answered d first one be4 it is A.
I am not sure of d second one at all but it should be A... Reducing sugar? Aldose or ketose? Pls reply with ans.
Guy and I think u shld start posting exclusively from d series from naw on

.Regarding d first one, it should not be A I tink B is out it, I don't tink it shld be C or E. So am going with D

The first one should be D, in solid state they dearth mobile ions to conduct electricity, second is B

since the Nacl is in solid state, E should be the answer cos solids have three dimensional shapes controlled by the type of force holding their crystal lattice structure together hence Nacl is held by metallic bond such dat each Na is surrounded by Cl ions nd each Cl is surrounded by Na ions nd since inter ionic bond is strong Nacl has high boiling point. It should have been (D) if the Nacl was in liquid state

1.A 2.B
A z correct cz NaCl z an ionic compound,,so it exists as aggregate of ions in solid state
It cnt b D cz its mostly covalent compounds dat exist as discrete molecules and cnt b C cz it has an high meltn pt due to d strong electrostatic force
E z entirely out

Nacl z nt held by metallic bond...its d atoms of Na itself that r held by dat bond and nt NaCl

It only contains molecules in solid state.
Re: UTME 2017: Thread For Science Jambites by SamanN: 10:37am On Apr 14, 2017
Since molecules make up matter (solid, liquid or gases) D is most appropriate I think.

my brother wants to write this year jamb and he chooses to study animal production and health or any other agric related course...
how do you guys think he can choose subjects to partake in in jamb
because he wants to pick
agric,chemistry,physics, and English
with a NECO result in which he has D7 in agric and credit in all other compulsory subjects

why don't u open shop and do chemist like every other person??
so u think thats what pharmacy is all about Your comment really made me furious.
Check google about achievements of pharmacists and i bet u, it will leave u agog. You're implying pharmacy is not something worth learning whereas, its even a professional course. Pls avoid controversies

Good day guys, i really need your help on this one under mirror. The question goes thus

What is the radius of curvature of a concave mirror that magnifies an object placed 30.0 cm from the mirror by a factor of +3.0?

wao!!! To think someone who wants to study pharmacy will say this baffles me. What happened to your dreams and aspirations Or you have none Are u really going to study pharmacy in uni based on your passion or u just need a certificate. Well, i guess u have set a path for yourself already. You have limited yourself to think pharmacists are chemist so i wish u a happy life dispensing drugs
