Been a silent observer. Went for my U.S. interview in Abuja on Tuesday. I read through parts 1 and 2 and the Niv thread with the vo' s
This is my transcript:
Vo: Can I have ur passport?
Me: Sure
Vo: What are you going to do in Houston?
Me: It will be my annual leave in July, want to spend it with my sister and her kids.
Vo: What do u do?
Me: I'm a lawyer with a law firm Bleep and on the side I run a company with my mum.
Vo: which one brings in the income?
Me: My law firm
Vo: Where have u travelled to?
Me: UK for school and holiday, India, Dubai, Qatar and Ghana
Vo: Tell me about ur trip to the UK?
Me: Which one?
Vo: Anyone
Me: I did my masters at the Bleep and studied Bleep
Vo: Are u going to receive medical treatment?
Me: Definitely not
Vo: Are u pregnant?
Me: No!
Vo: This paper will tell u how to pick up ur visa.

This is my second US visa application. The first was in 2007, I was still in Uni and to be frank didn't even go through the application before my interview.

I'm female and single. Vo never asked. Interview was Tuesday morning by 8, recieved an email to pick up my passport Wednesday evening. Super fast! Just be honest and clear in ur replies. Oh and my sister is a U.S. citizen.
Shared my transcript because I would like to dispel 2 rumours. One is that single people don't get visas and the other is if u have a sibling who is a citizen u won't get a visa.
Going through the threads gave me ideas of likely questions and helped me to prepare so I'm grateful to whoever started it and all the contributors.

Am sorry for the question am about to ask.. Dnt know if permissible to ask this on this thread. As i wouldnt want pple to give a kind of knock response base on logistic.
Pls has anyone in d recent time book an appointment with the U.S consulate..just wanna know if there is available date for this month "april" coz i have a delay in collecting ma renew passport. Hoping to get it after Easter break. As i wudnt want the situation whereby i will collect ma passport and buy the visa fee and unable to get date coz d conference is on the 10 of may. Thanks.

My international passport got wet from rain and the picture on my data page is a bit faded but the rest of the data on it is fine and my U.S visa is fine as well... Do I need to get another passport or still make use of the same passport.. I'm traveling very soon in short I've got my ticket already...

Better safe than sorry. If the photo on your passport is blurred, get a new one. The last thing you want is some cbp official bugging you because he can't tell if it's you in the passport or not.

As at yesterday 3 days left for April and earliest date in May is 15th, btw you won't know until You make your visa payment.
Dates could become available at anytime.

If you are going to get another passport, you have to make contact with PCO.. Explain ur situation before u apply..Probably u give him extra money so that he can help u process it faster . Or else, ur application will be on queue.. Just saying so that u will not miss ur flight
As for me, Nigeria system is affecting me in getting ma renew passport as i dont want to loose d money that i paid for the conference and also d conference itself.... I don tire. Even i offer additional fee but it seems dia is no booklet in ma location.
Just a piece of advice

3. Your account is connected to your email, use the forgot password feature.
4. You don't need any documents to upload.
5. How can you contradict a form, you filled by yourself?
6. The process for applying for US VISA is universal and hasn't changed, only difference, you are to upload your picture before the interview date.

I didn't use an agent & honestly had a conference to attend but couldnt mke it. I thought I uploaded some docs then or...well I cant remember now. If I renew a visa a day bfore expiry date is that one still renewal? Chances of getting approved while renewing visa and applying afresh is it same? PLEASE WHATS THE DIFFERENCE, ANYONE? Cz I may just chill n apply afresh

If your password aint going, write to the embassy to sort you out. It happens all the time. Do take out time and read this thread. PS: you cannot create a new profile but good luck with that
You can renew a visa a few months before renewal.
I don't comment on chances. I'm not BET naija.

1. Is it possible to process the passport without a consent from the dad ?
2. Will a no consent letter pose any issue at the embassy/ Port of Entry?
3. What do I do in the absence of a consent letter?

Every family is unique and dynamic. What obtains in a particular home may not obtain in another. For all intents and purposes you are a single parent. The child has been in your full custody and you have managed her affairs for 8 years with no input from the biological father.
These unique circumstances are what you will explain to the VO if he asks. If he requires more proof you may have to take along any evidence of the fact that you have been her sole guardian... You just need to be collected and make sure you pass the info across without the vo losing concentration as they are wont to do when people go up and down with long stories.
