it is so painful we won't be participating in this year under 20 world cup...so believe we could have gone far in the tourney and stars will be discovered and absolved in the SE

to be true if less than 20% of Nigerians who reside in Europe could produce players we all clamouring for their inclusion in SE... how much more the 80% back home...

the problem we have been having is mismanagement...think they're more good players in Nigeria than diaspora

Nigerian starlet Henry Onyekuru wants a 'dream' move to Arsenal - despite reported interest from Liverpool.

Onyekuru came through the Aspire Academy in Qatar before joining Belgian side Eupen in 2015. This season he's bagged 17 goals in 33 games.

Now the 19-year-old is being eyed by a number of clubs, but according tothe Express,he only has eyes for the Gunners.

“I hope to find myself one day in a top club in Europe and to play for my national team," the youngster is quoted as saying.

“The shirt I dream of wearing is Arsenal’s because I’ve always had Thierry Henry as a role model since I was little.”

Nigeria set to pitch camp in France

By Festus Chuma

Nigeria’s Super Eagles are set to camp in France according to plans by head coach Gernot Rohr.

The three-time Africa champions will open the camp from the 23rd of May as part of preparations for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier aganist South Africa.

While in France they are scheduled to play a friendly aganist Corsica, a tiny island in France.

“We will play against Corsica and we will have about 20 to 23 players. But not all the players will come with us to Paris on May 23 when we meet before proceeding to Ajaccio in Corsica, where the game will be played,” the Eagles coach said in a radio interview.

Super Eagles could also play the Stallions of Burkina Faso in another international friendly in Paris, during their stay in France.

Both teams were billed to face each other last month in London, but the game was called off after the Burkinabe failed to secure entry visas into the United Kingdom.

It is true. That was the advice his coach gave him. It is fairly old news though.

Declaring for Nigeria will reduce his market value in russia. Every team in Russia have to play 6 players eligible for the russian national team. It can even affect game time.

Thiis is old news.

If he makes the decision to play for 9ja, his value crashes in Russia. He might even struggle to get games.

He however needs to make a choice quickly.

At youth level, Nigeria has the talent at home to beat the best in the world but these talents do not grow to be world class if they stay at home because of the lack of structures.

except he is not good, a team can not bench their best player because of not playing for their country e.g zaha. So if dele alli had played for nigeria he will be on the bench for his club?

It is not always about being good. If a team has to fill a position between a russian and him of similar quality, they will go with the Russian because they have to play 6 russians in every team

I doubt the aim should just be about making a big move in a short time. The aim should focus on his growth. With a longer history at Celtics, scoring loads will land him on a higher level than just what he has already done.

Moving to Liverpool as a quality Eupen player is a different League from moving to Liverpool as a quality Celtics player. With Celtics he would also have Champions League rep under his name.

Wish Onyekuru the best. Totally against a move to Arsenal.

Credit should go to Onyekuru's coach and not the club. The coach blamed the misunderstanding on the transfer window and not the player.

That is perception but I think a move to Celtics would have given Onyekuru a chance to do more than what he is doing at Eupen. Also giving him a chance to land on a bigger stage with a far bigger profile.

At the end, I hope he makes the most of where ever he lands.

That was his exact aim, he tried to force a transfer to celtic and now he can have a choice of several top clubs including celtic. I doubt he is even thinking about celtic right now, that is my point, it would have been a bad move.

Drama! State Govt Says Enugu Rangers Coach Amapakabo ‘Suspended’, not ‘Sacked’

Emmanuel Offor

Olisa Blogazine | 2017-04-14T05:33:51+00:00

Reigning Nigerian League champions Enugu Rangers appears engulfed in chaos on and off the pitch as the state government has come out to debunk reports in the media suggesting that head coach Mr. Imama Amapakabo, had been sacked.

Recall that we reported the sack of coach Imama in the wake of Ranger’s disappointing 2-2 draw at home with Zesco United Football Club of Zambia in the Caf Confederations Cup.

However, the Commissioner for Youths and Sports in the state, Mr. Charles Ndukwe refuted the claim in an interview with journalists after the State Executive Council meeting held at Government House, Enugu, Vanguard writes.

According to Ndukwe, Amapakabo had only been suspended by the state government based on the club’s recent run of poor performances which reached an unacceptable low in the draw with Zesco United.

The commissioner noted that a sack letter could not have been issued to the coach without the state government’s consent.

“The General Manager has no right to sack a coach, and Enugu State government cannot take an abnormal action,” he said.

He added that Mr. Chukwuma Agbo would continue to act as the chief coach of the club, adding that Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has assured them of his full support as the club pulls out of this trying time.

I agree Celtic is not a small club. They have players who have moved on to the best clubs in Europe for big money.

Moussa Dembele left Fulham to Celtic rejecting moves to Tottenham, Chelsea amongst a host of other clubs.
His transfer fee was a paltry £500k as free transfer. Now Celtic stand to laugh all the way to the bank.

That move has seen his profile rise even higher, it was reported during the January transfer window a offer in excess of £40 million was made by Chelsea but politely declined.

If Onyekuru had gone to Celtic his profile would be much higher. Having Dembele as a forward partner would have helped him even further.

Nigeria Best Paid Player Ighalo Outshines Second Highest-Earner In China After Bagging Brace

Odion Ighalo got off the mark for Changchun Yatai in the Chinese Super League on Saturday but his goals counted for nothing with his team losing 3-2 to Obafemi Martins's Shanghai Shenhua.

After he was fouled in the box, Ighalo kept his cool to convert a penalty in the 40th minute to equalize for Changchun Yatai.

Five minutes after the restart, the former Watford star tapped home from close range to put the finishing touch on a counter-attacking move and bagged his brace in the process.

The game was heading for a draw until the 88th minute when Giovanni Andres Moreno popped up to score the winner after he was teed up by Martins.

Whilst the ex-Inter Milan and Newcastle United star lasted the distance on his first appearance of this season, Ighalo subbed out in the 73rd minute with the game tied at 2-2.

Odion Ighalo is the top earning Nigerian professional footballer, with guaranteed wages of more than €12.1 million per season, followed by Martins who takes home €8.4 million every year.
