Would have ignored you but I just hate liars and silly folks...We were told it was going to cost 5bn Naira(high though) and you're there typing $5bn dollars which is 1.8 trillion naira(at 370 for a dollar).

Something must be wrong with you...

Hmmmmmmmmmm.......your BMC handlers would indeed not have been very proud of you if you had said the contrary.....Nigeria would not have lost so much with the NAIA Abuja closure if your ACN charlatans and their CPC cohorts had given the late Ex President Umar Yaardua the opportunity of going through with the procurement process for the building of a new runway at half the cost that your messiahs have now expended in refurbishing the old runway.....without screaming that the cost was well high off the roof like thry claimed with the pump price of refined petroluem products which today sells far above the price folks bought them under the PDP ungodly saints.
Keep gloating........that is whst you and your ilk have been reduced to for the proverbisl free 3.5gb monthly browsing data allowance.....
lol how I wish I was one of those so called bmc

My comment was made based on my observation of people praising the government for fixing the runway, which is quite ridiculous because that is what they were voted in to do in the first place - establish and maintain basic infrastructure, amongst other tasks. Why should that be something to be jubilant about? Especially considering how poor this government has performed overall.

That is how mediocrity starts, when leaders are being celebrated for doing basic stuff. We are very far from where we should be at this point in time, relative to other countries.

You are probably right but as Lao Tzu put it
"The journey of a thousand miles begins with one single step"
If i have learned one thing in life it is to be for things rather than to be against things. If we focus on approval for clearly stated reasons, we might channel Pavlov and get our leadership to get the adulation they so clearly crave by doing the right things. After all 50 years of wars, protest and strikes have hardly fared better.

I find it interesting though, as a member of the independence generation that the narrow mindedness and party spirit ( and here i am not speaking of you or any of the other commentators) we had in our day, is being so accurately mirrored on nairaland by a generation that strenously disavows the ones that came before it. Especially at a time that globally, millenial and Gen Z'ers are creating and reinforcing the collaborative and sharing economy.

Its not the differences mind, just what seems to lie below the surface. Ah well.

That may be your approach, but it's not mine. I stand against anything I consider unpalatable.

Re: adulation for leaders, unfortunately that won't work in Nigeria because leaders are surrounded by praise singers.

I really wonder oh.
That's the current unfortunate state of affairs in Nigeria. Things are so bad that the tiniest thing is "cause for rejoicing". Ridiculousness of the highest level.

Pass through our international airports and you will literally bend your head in shame when you see their state compared to what obtains elsewhere. We should be talking about taking things to the next level, people are here praising a runway repair. Chai.
I swear, a friend had to ridicule Nigeria that he was shocked to see lizard moving freely on the runway when he got to Nigeria. .... Smh

Not everything is politics. This is a good development and should not be badmouthed.

Did u read my post abi you no see Rice chop this Easter?
That's exactly my point. FAAN is responsible for that. Not APC and definitely not Buhari. Unfortunately Nigerians are hell bent on politicizing every issue. angry

Aren't you tired of sounding like a broken record? I know it's extremely difficult to get over the trouncing of your hero in 2015, but as @greenpasture educated you, politics is not a zero sum game.

By all means, do criticize objectively, and if you do not feel the need to acknowledge a good deed, no one's forcing you. The problem is, if that long-expired runway had caused a fatal mishap, you would have been one of the first to tell us how this administration is the most despicable thing since Satan.

one thing that really gets me angry in this our very own nigeria is the way we do little things and begin to make a big deal about it.
when countries that dont have what we have do theirs ,make it a wonder and maintain it. when they build bridges ,tourist stay amazed. ordinary ruway light and road tarring that should be done when it should be done is now news.
Tell yourselfs whatever you like. our leaders know whats best for their personal cribs but to do well in their elected duties na so so story. continue

Who is FAAN, Who is Buhari?? Isn't FAAN a responsibility of Buhari??
Mr Rice eater, this is politics and, whether you like it or not, buhari is responsible for everything...either positive or negative.

**And is that why you have to throw shades at me??
That you finally ate rice today doesn't call for celebration or announcement.
Not everyone is poverty stricken, debt ridden, hardship battered and miserable like you are.

You are a wasted effort. I'm done with you.
