Whats your take on the hard starting

hard starting can be caused by a lot of factors, low engine compression, too much fuel in combustion chamber, too little fuel in combustion chamber, wrong timing settings, dysfunctional engine ecu, fauty spark plugs, faulty coils.... the list is endless. You have to rule out most of these factors 1 at a time to narrow down the culprit. A scanner might not be available to help you with this, so it's all old sch diagnosis.

austin4rea, I am owner of nissan primera with QG18DE engine. I will tell you that the engine is good like that of corolla with 1.8L. it has timing chain, rugged, and reliable just like those previous version of engine. The only thing many user willl call problem is that its technology is little advance than its older version ie it's distributorless. Uptill now a still using the engine, though i encounter serious problem that lasted for 8months due to crankshaft sensor problem and the diagnosis used was kazeem method but later resolved through my up grading of my DIY. In conclusion, it is a good engine.

Instead of life changing modifications, I am an advocate for selling vehicle in current state and buying a turbo free model.

Here is my tale

I have a little problem I'd like your insights on. My Benz c320 used to trip off at quarter tank thereabout like it ran out of fuel. I had it checked out thinking the gauge was bad or something. The tank was opened and there was fuel in it and the gauge was pretty accurate. The rewire took just worked around with it and told me the problem was over but the problem persists. I got in touch with another rewire who diagnosed the vehicle and told me to replace the pedal sensor as the vehicle was stalling and I thought it was as a result of the fuel problem, upon replacement the vehicle stopped stalling but as regards the engine going off the same rewire asked me to change the entire tank. One of the rewires think the fuel pump/sending unit is the culprit while the other one(the one that diagonised and asked me to change pedal sensor too) thinks it's the entire tank. I am genuinely confused about the rewire to go with as I don't want trial and errors.

Oga Gazzuz... please am having issues with my rl.. it's an 07/08 model with the 3.5l engine.. it started overheating and the top gasket was changed.. everything seems normal since then only issue is the car starts to overheat after about 3hrs of driving with Ac.. I don't have any issues if I drive without aircondition.. the water also shortens

The c300 has the smaller engine amongst the trio, but the best handling, followed by the TLX '15 which us the fastest, ES350 is a bloated Camry/Avalon, Its the biggest. The best comparison would had been the C350, TLX, IS350. Reason is the Benz and acura are compact sports sedans, while the ES is a midsized (almost full sized) family cruiser. Benz is RWD or AWD (4matic), the acura and Lexus are Either FWD or AWD in the acura (sh-AWD).

Lexus had the most comfy seats of the trio plus its got cooled and heated seats.

Avoid playing that very evil game. No go near that throttle pedal sensor. Nothings wrong. Its your fuel pump ASSY. The sender and fuel pressure regulator thats the issue.

Gazzuzz. Which sporty awd would you recommend. Would have gone for an suv but I never like them cause of size they are just too big. Been seriously checking out the 3 series xi. But tell me what car would you recommend.

Thanks for your input. The car was stalling and it was diagnosed as pedal sensor error whaich I quickly fixed.
The problem right now is that it's goes off as if there's no fuel in it at exactly half tank.. I have come to realise the car uses the saddle tank i.e double tank.. the car isn't using the fuel from one tank(one half of the entire tank). One technician attributed it to the fuel pump while another attributed it to a bad tank as fuel doesn't flow to the second part of the tank as it should. I'm at a crossroad as to which one to follow. Your input is really appreciated. I'd like to hear your insight based on this new information.

replace your fuel pump ASSY. The sender and fuel pressure regulator with brand new unit.

Gazzuz...nice thread...pls I need your honest opinion on this...been looking for a naija used Corolla but prices arent helping and due to my pockets am considering a naija used elantra 08(although prices arent far off)...am actually worried about ruggedity and parts availability, as most people I know use the car for uber..Is a naija used elantra 08 worth the risk as I also want to list it on uber for some extra cash and personal use in some cases...

PS Its a first car..

1. Ask seller if it was bought brand new from Dana motors? It will be evident in the paper work.

2. The US spec has a larger 2.0 liter engine, while the Asian (Dana motor) has a small 1.6-1.8 liter engine

I hate the Asian Dana motor spec, because the engine replacement cost over 700k while the american spec is around 180-250k

Was that job done on your premises or did you outsource ?
Do you have an idea how much this front grille might cost? I want to re-spray and made some external modifications to my CR-V

all preparation for paint work was done in workshop, final paint job, was taken to a rented oven booth.
