1. It will raise suspicions during the interview. I recommend you shelve that plan. People with 'virgin' passports have gotten visas.

2. That's good. So what you have to do, is be able to explain what the business entails, in such a way that shows that your presence is needed for the business to succeed and if you are gone, the business will collapse, something like that - but please be honest and be straight to the point.

3. You will not be asked. But if they do, you will probably be scheduled for Administrative processing which is like an opportunity, to bring the documents required to decide your case. The more documents you try to present to the VO, the greater the red flags.

4. That's a valid reason for B1/B2. Know where, why and for how long you will be in the US. Also know one or two sites where you intend to visit, also know how much your ticket would cost to the US and back. Most importantly fill your forms honestly and truthfully.

This post should be required reading for everyone asking questions here from henceforth...

It seems you were bent on giving me a harsh response before reading my post properly. if not, you would have noticed the part where I said am going on a vacation and would also love to attend any conference that will add positively to my profession while am there..
TWoods:

It seems you simply want a "conference" for purposes of obtaining a visa. That is fraud.

Specficity of purpose is key. Yes one may go for a vacation and conference at the same time.
BUT... In a Case such as yours, where you are willing to just settle for any conference that would ' add positively to your profession while you are there', it would be a drag to your aapplication because you will not be conversant with all the nitty gritty of the conference and the vo will see through that.
A VO may also see it as a ploy to just get a visa anyao anyao. Get a specifc purpose and stick with it

VO: Would you be visiting family there?
Me: No
VO: stops typing and looks at me: Every Nigerian I know has got family in the US

grin. That part is funny. I can just picture the surprise look on the VO's face cheesy

Rich kid ke!

I checked using Naira and I got a quote for N284k BA and Canada air cheapest fare,, but using USD got airmaroc about $1200 same date. I don't understand the change in airline when checking with different currency

I use skyscanner a lot. It should take you to the website link of the flight centre

Better do! Some preconceptions are so cast in the mind's stone that any attempt to correct it sounds alien.
The part I like about your former post is where you say that the absence of the letter can not cost one the visa...

good evening, Please I am trying to renew my visa via dropbox and I need some clarification. 1. The first page where I filled personal and passport details, there's a box there asking for the form DS-160 confirmation number, I do not have this number, what do I do please? 2. After the page I described in question(1), I was asked various questions pertaining to my expired visa, after answering these question it confirmed that I am eligible for dropbox option. After I confirmed my preference for dropbox, the next page was confirmation of pick-up location after which I was taken to a page that required my visa fee payment confirmation number (i guess this means i need to pay). My worry is, I haven't been asked any question pertaining to my address, employment details and reason for my trip and I also do not have my DS160 confirmation yet. My question here is, after payment and input of payment confirmation number, will i be asked further questions as explained above? I expected the payment to come up at the end of filling the entire form. I am confused please, I do not want to goof and make payment which cant be refunded. Gurus in the house, kindly assist me urgently please.

I have been entertaining myself reading through the pages on this thread.

Is there a reason why Nigerians talk too much during interviews cheesy? I mean some answers to the VO questions on this thread are just too long and unnecessary.

The one that cracked me up the most was the below

VO: are you married?

Applicant: Yes happily married with two kids. Although we are planning on a third child as my eldest child just recently asked me why the child spacing between her and my last child is too long and I don't know where she got that from.....bla bla bla

Who asked you to discuss your family tree? grin Just stick to the point dammit smiley

This VO's dey try ooo.

1. Either way you MUST make a payment and the payment is non refundable
2. I percieve you have NOT filled a ds 160. you will have to fill that.
3. The ds 160 is where all those informatiob you seek to fill is contained.

Hi
The secret to visa success is research. You are your own person and know wht apppeals to you. You cant depend on people's opinions.
All the questions you asked , you can get the answer off google.
Google a city that is 'cheap' vis a vis what you would like to do while in america
Google hotels there and their costs
Google flight cost
Google the fast foods there and the cost of the food
Convert all that to Naira. If it looks like a lot of work, its good cos its for your benefit. You can look a vo in the eye and answer with confidence. I have used google to survive and travel to cities I knew squat about.
Happy researching

Then I stick to a conference as my purpose of travel still enjoy my vacation afterwards. FYI, can't embark on something as int'l conference without being conversant with the nitty gritty of it, it's not my first time attending a conference or travelling overseas; and you'll be making a big mistake to think am leaving my job and country for some American dream. All Nigerians are not fraudsters with nothing but evil intentions. So please, ma'am/sir, all I need is a good conference on accounting or oil and gas in the states then i'll take it from there. Thank alot.

Check the ist page of this thread or check the US embassy website. The links you need to famliarize yourself with the process is there. After going through, you can ask for clarifications. I will assist as much as I possible can.
Note though, the US embassy rarely ask for and place little emphasis on iv letters so the non inclusion of names is not an issue to fret about. If you go through this thread, you wil learn from the transcripts that IV letters aren't needed

Yeah, true that.... He shouldn't even bother getting past that page and inputting his visa fee receipt number details yet, else he will have to be calling up on support team/ customer care to rectify the DS 160 issue.

Well, @toyeentee; kindly use this link http://www.ustraveldocs.com/ng/ng-niv-ds160complete.asp to go about generating and filling your DS160 (print out the confirmation page when you are done), then restart the interview appointment process or go back to your profile in your dashboard and input the new DS160 number in place of the previous one you used to obtain your last visa.

After that print the Dropbox confirmation page, add your your DS160 confirmation page, your visa fee receipt, and your international passport (no need for passport photograph again, you must have had it uploaded while filling your DS160), take them to the pick up station you picked for submission and onward transmission to the embassy. Wait for some 3-maybe 10 working days to either get your passport back with visa in it or be called for a follow-up interview. Regards!

Good day house. Compliments of the season.
A friend of mine and his family got issued a visit visa to the US, they will be staying for just three weeks, to cut cost of flight fares, he was told to send his money to his uncle in the US to buy them tickets as it would be cheaper buying their tickets from over their as compared to getting the tickets here in Nigeria.
Is that in any way possible? And if they did will that not be a point of concern or raise issues for them when they get to POE? They are holidaying in Texas.

So explaining to them at the POE that was done to cut cost given how much our leaders have bastardised our currency does not suffice?

Anyway, the officers better be economically sound.
