Spin a different line and stop sounding like a broken record and nagging wife

I don't need to spin a different line. I know this line is oppressing you and it will continue to oppress you until you show some integrity and own up that the 2 chapters are incongruous.

The bible said Saul asked whose son David is, it didnt say the reason why Saul asked
You can be given nth to the power reasons why Saul asked but you'll never be satisfied so go take a chill pill and sit don somewhere jaare

We don't need 'nth to the power reasons', only one Reasonable reason will do. Thanks.

That's more the reason one needs to be familiar with Jewish customs, culture, idioms etcetera
in order to get a good grip on what the narratives in the bible are about

Are you familiar with Hebrew (not jewish, olodo) customs, culture, idioms etc?

You've worn it out from overuse.
Take a risk, be creative, spin a different line

You're not open to reason, as you're too self-absorbed and that's exactly why reason is oblivious to you

You have been given not yet exhausted Reasonable reason(s) but your shortcoming is that infamous blinkered attitude of yours

PastorAIO:
Are you familiar with Hebrew (not jewish, olodo) customs, culture, idioms etc?
As a matter of fact, to a certain degree, I try as much as I can getting familiar with Hebrew's too
and know you are smart enough to know the difference between Hebrew and Jewish

With your ego running amok, you couldnt resist not resorting to an ''olodo'' abuse and hectoring, erh. Continue

I now see where you're going so wrong. The difference between you and me is that I know where to be creative and where not to be. This is not the creative arts. If it was painting or music, or dancing I very much doubt that you can even be half as creative as me. However this is not the arts, this is a simple matter of biblical exegesis and literary criticism. I know that your whole approach to religion is to make it up as you go along and that is why creativity is so important to you, but I'm sorry to say that that is not the correct approach to religious matters.

You're not open to reason, as you're too self-absorbed and that's exactly why reason is oblivious to you

So your reasonable reason is that as a Yoruba man Saul was asking: ''Tani baba omode yi, gangan nile yi, paapaa?''

MuttleyLaff:

Technically speaking and in actual fact, King Saul doesnt know whose son David really is

''Whose son is the youth'' is equivalent in seriousness to like when speaking in the local parlance with
''Tani baba omode yi, gangan nile yi, paapaa?''

As a matter of fact, to a certain degree, I try as much as I can getting familiar with Hebrew's too

It's not ego. it's a statement of fact. If you made a mistake and you say 'sorry I made a mistake', I can accept that. But you are conflating Hebrew with Jewish, that suggests you don't know the first thing of what you are talking about.

King Saul had sent messengers and word, only, to Jesse alright
but he had no diddly squat face-face nor have any knowledge of who Jesse really is

King Saul in effect, had twice (i.e. messengers and word) sent to Jesse but never had sent for Jesse

King Saul didnt have to send for Jesse, because whatever King Saul wants or demands, King Saul haves or gets and Jesse has to be honky-donkey with it
Remember God's warning about subservience etcetera concerning the Israelite wanting to have an earthly king (i.e. 1 Samuel 8:11-18)

Were you expecting otherwise

So? So then, what?

Of course he knows David BY SIGHT and he knew him to be Jesse's son,
but does he know Jesse?
Does he personally know Jesse? Has he ever met Jesse?
Is King Saul acquainted with Jesse BY SIGHT?

And after asking the question in Chapter 17 did he then come to know Jesse by sight? Since it is the 'by sight' that is biting you. What information did he gain in Chapter17 that he didn't already have in Chapter 16.

will the contradiction cause you to not believe in Jesus?

Let fall in showers, you heavens, from above, and let the skies rain down righteousness [the pure, spiritual, heaven-born possibilities that have their foundation in the holy being of God]; let the earth open, and let them [skies and earth] sprout forth salvation, and let righteousness germinate and spring up [as plants do] together; I the Lord have created it.

9Woe to him who strives with his Maker!--a worthless piece of broken pottery among other pieces equally worthless [and yet presuming to strive with his Maker]! Shall the clay say to him who fashions it, What do you think you are making? or, Your work has no handles?(A)

10Woe to him [who complains against his parents that they have begotten him] who says to a father, What are you begetting? or to a woman, With what are you in travail?

11Thus says the Lord, the Holy One of Israel, and its Maker: Would you question Me about things to come concerning My children, and concerning the work of My hands [would you] command Me?

Be creative means be original, as stop behaving like a broken record, repeating the same line over and over again
I can count all the times you used that one line, on one hand ... if am holding a calculator

PastorAIO:

No but its one of the not yet exhausted Reasonable reason(s), as I earlier said

It's an over fed ego.
They say ignorance is bliss but yours is rather disturbing and unacceptable

PastorAIO:

SMH. In your dreams you say I conflate
Now explain, when, where and how, I, in the slightest degree, conflated Hebrew with Jewish. Pftt. SMH

PastorAIO:

Biting?
Dont turn the table on me, it was you hung up on 'by sight'

PastorAIO:
What information did he gain in Chapter 17 that he didn't already have in Chapter 16.
Rhetorical question (i.e. question asked in order to create a dramatic effect or to make a point rather than to get an answer)
- another from the not yet exhausted Reasonable reason(s)

Serving you back in a similar fashion:
What information did David gain, when he fled from Naioth in Ramah, and came to Jonathan, asking Jonathan questions, that he, David, didn't already have prior to the 1 Samuel 20:1 questioning event?

Please stay on topic. We are talking about blatant contradictions. Some examples have been mentioned. If you feel you can explain the discrepancies according to your worldview then please go ahead.

Flexiomor is right
Once it comes to the bible, some people seem to pretend not to understand English

You should have asked why did Saul Forget who David was, What was Saul Sickness.

The Bible Writer cant be stupid ask you assume, its wasn't wrote in a rush to have something to pen down.
In a Regular Essay Writing, You introduce the idea of the next Paragraph in the last sentence of the current paragraph, That may be the aim writer.

Just as someone had already said, that Part in question does not follow chronological order, that should be enough for the wise-one to work on

Why did Saul 'forget' who David was? What was Saul's Sickness?

You should read my posts before you respond to me. There is nowhere that I assumed that the bible writers were 'stupid'. That's a false accusation. If anything it is the likes of you and Felix that assume that they've made a mistake and feel a need to cover that fact up.

I stated clearly my position. That yes, there are contradictions. And yes, the contradictions are intentional. So I don't think it was a rush to pen something down that caused the contradiction. It was intentional.

PastorAIO:

My brother, the question should not be whether or not there are contradictions in the bible. But rather the question should be why the writers of the bible blatantly and obviously took contradictory stories and laid them side by side.

If you read the bible is not just you will see some seemingly inadvertent contradictions as if it was sloppy work, but instead they are laid side by side in such a manner that it is obvious that the writer intends for you to compare and contrast them.

The first thing that we can say is that the writers of the bible were [b]NOT [/b]trying to write history. That was not their goal or agenda.

You cannot take the tales of the bible as historical facts.

What is obvious is that the writers were not writing history but were getting at something else altogether different, a lot of which is lost in translation when you read the bible in English.

It is the false premise that the bible is an account of history that is the cause of all the twisting and writhing.

SHALOM!

JhyMedex:
I'm really in need of clarifications on some issues I just discovered while I took it upon myself to study the Bible more closely in a bid to know more about My God..

LYING IS THE MOST DISGUSTING THING.

If you wanted to know GOD, you would study YAHSHUA.

. MATTHEW 11:25-30.

25. "At that time Jesus answered and said,
"I thank thee, O Father,
Lord of Heaven and Earth,
because thou hast hid these things
from the Wise and Prudent,
and hast revealed them unto Babes.
26. "Even so, Father:
for so it seemed good in Thy Sight.
27. "All things are delivered unto me
of my Father:
and no man knoweth The Son,
but The Father;
neither knoweth any man The Father,
save the Son,
and he to whomsoever
The Son will reveal Him."
28. "Come unto me,
all ye that labour
and are heavy laden,
and I will give you rest.
29. "Take my yoke upon you,
and learn of me;
for I am meek and lowly in heart:
and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy,
and my burden is light."

. JOHN 8:30-32.

30. As he spake these words,
many believed on him.
31. Then said Jesus to those Jews
which believed on him,
"If ye continue in my Word,
then are ye my Disciples indeed;
32. "And ye shall know The Truth,
and The Truth shall make you free."

. JOHN 14:1-18.

"LET not your heart be troubled:
ye believe in God,
believe also in me.
2. "In my Father's House
are many Mansions:
if it were not so,
I would have told you.
I go to prepare a place for you.
3. "And if I go and prepare a place for you,
I will come again,
and receive you unto myself;
that where I am,
there ye may be also.
4. "And whither I go ye know,
and The Way ye know."
5. Thomas saith unto him,
"Lord, we know not whither thou goest;
and how can we know The Way?"
6. Jesus saith unto him,
"I am The Way, The Truth, and The Life:
no man cometh unto The Father, but by me.
7. "If ye had known me,
ye should have Known my Father also:
and from henceforth ye Know Him,
and have seen Him."
8. Philip saith unto him,
"Lord, shew us the Father,
and it sufficeth us."
9. Jesus saith unto him,
"Have I been so long time with you,
and yet hast thou not known me, Philip?
He that hath seen me hath seen The Father;
and how sayest thou then,

'SHEW US THE FATHER?'

10. "Believest thou not
that I am in the Father,
and the Father in me?
The Words that I speak unto you
I speak not of myself:
but the Father that dwelleth in me,
he doeth The Works.
11. "Believe me
that I am in The Father,
and The Father in me:
or else believe me
for the very Works' sake.
12. "Verily, verily, I say unto you,

'HE THAT BELIEVETH ON ME,
THE WORKS THAT I DO
SHALL HE DO ALSO;'

and Greater (Works) than these shall he do;
because I go unto my Father.
13. "And whatsoever ye shall ask in my Name,
that will I do,
that The Father may be glorified in The Son.
14. "If ye shall ask any thing in my Name,
I will do it.
15. "If ye love me,
keep my Commandments.
16. "And I will pray The Father,
and He shall give you another Comforter,
that He may abide with you for ever;
17. "Even The Spirit of Truth;
whom the World cannot receive,
because It seeth him not,
neither knoweth Him:
but ye know him;
for He dwelleth with you,
and shall be in you.
18. "I will not leave you comfortless:
I will come to you."

THROUGH THE LORD YAHSHUA, WHO DIED FOR YOU, GOD OFFERED YOU THE GREAT POWER OF HEAVEN.

Instead, you trample that underfoot, and and want to talk about SAUL AND DAVID- who have NOTHING to do with you, and who did not care about you.

I however stumbled on some stories that I feel contradict each other outrightly...
I may have read it or interpreted it wrongly but I need some one to shed light on this issue ...

. 1st JOHN 2:9-11.

 9. He that saith he is in the Light, and hateth his Brother,
is in Darkness even until now.
10. He that loveth his Brother abideth in the Light,
and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.
11 But he that hateth his Brother is in Darkness,
and walketh in Darkness,
and knoweth not whither he goeth,
because that Darkness hath blinded his eyes.

Well, SO WHAT?

What has this got to do with whether or not you achieve Salvation?

YOU STUMBLED UPON something that was NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS.

What IS your business, you IGNORED.

1. HOW DID SAUL AND DAVID MEET

1Samuel 16:17 says they met when David became Saul's musician and armor bearer

1Samuel 17:55 says they met after David killed Goliath...

Did it, now?

. 1st SAMUEL 16:21-23.

17. And Saul said unto his servants,

“Provide me now a man that can play well,
and bring him to me.”

18. Then answered one of the servants,
and said,

“Behold, I have seen a son
of Jesse the Bethlehemite,
that is cunning in playing,
and a mighty valiant man,
and a man of war,
and prudent in matters,
and a comely person,
and The LORD is with him.”

19. Wherefore Saul sent messengers unto Jesse,
and said,

“Send me David thy son,
which is with the sheep.”

20. And Jesse took an ass laden with bread,
and a bottle of wine,
and a kid,
and sent them by David his son
unto Saul.
21. And David came to Saul,
and stood before him:
and he loved him greatly;
and he became his armourbearer.
22. And Saul sent to Jesse, saying,

"Let David,
I pray thee,
stand before me;
for he hath found favour in my sight."

23. And it came to pass,
when the evil spirit from God was upon Saul,
that David took an harp,
and played with his hand:
so Saul was refreshed,
and was well,
and the evil spirit departed from him."

. 1st SAMUEL 17:53-58.

53. And the Children of Israel returned
from chasing after the Philistines,
and they spoiled their tents.
54. And David took the head of the Philistine,
and brought it to Jerusalem;
but he put his armour in his tent.
55. And when Saul saw David go forth against the Philistine,
he said unto Abner,
the captain of the host,
Abner, whose son is this youth?"

And Abner said,

"As thy soul liveth,
O king, I cannot tell."

56. And the king said,

"Enquire thou whose son the stripling is.

57. And as David returned from the slaughter of the Philistine,
Abner took him,
and brought him before Saul
with the head of the Philistine in his hand.

58. And Saul said to him,
"Whose son art thou, thou young man?"

And David answered,

"I am the son of thy servant Jesse the Bethlehemite."

WHAT IS THE DAMN PROBLEM?

SAUL DIDN'T RECOGNIZE HIS MINSTREL'S FATHER'S NAME!

NOW he saw him coming off the battlefield, war dress, at maybe a quarter-mile distance, or whatever- not even ABNER recognized him.

THIS IS A BIG PROBLEM FOR YOU?

What do you think this was- HOLLYWOOD?

That he could just ZOOM-IN- adjust the contrast a bit there.

"Oh. It's DAVID! Of course..!"

. MATTHEW 7:1-6.

"JUDGE not, that ye be not judged.
2. "For with what judgment ye judge,
ye shall be judged:
and with what measure ye mete,
it shall be measured to you again.
3. "And why beholdest thou the mote
that is in thy brother's eye,
but considerest not the beam
that is in thine own eye?
4. "Or how wilt thou say to thy brother,

'LET ME PULL OUT THE MOTE
OUT OF THINE EYE;'

and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?
5. "Thou Hypocrite, first cast out the beam
out of thine own eye;
and then shalt thou see clearly
to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.
6. "Give not that which is holy unto the dogs,
neither cast ye your pearls before swine,
lest they trample them under their feet,
and turn again and rend you."

IF YOU CANNOT MEDITATE, AND REALIZE THE ANSWERS TO SUCH QUESTIONS FROM WITHIN YOURSELF, THEN YOU ARE NOTHING BUT A DOG, AS FAR AS THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS CONCERNED.

YAHWEH GOD CHOOSES HIS SERVANTS from among the BEST the World has to offer- not the LAZY and CYNICAL.

. MATTHEW 18:1-4.

AT the same time came the Disciples unto Jesus,
saying,

"Who is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven?"

2. And Jesus called a little child unto him,
and set him in the midst of them,
3. And said,

"Verily I say unto you,

'EXCEPT YE BE CONVERTED,
AND BECOME AS LITTLE CHILDREN,
YE SHALL NOT ENTER INTO
THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN.'

4. "Whosoever therefore
shall humble himself
as this little child,
the same is greatest
in The Kingdom of Heaven."

WHAT- DID YOU THINK THAT AN EXCEPTION WOULD BE MADE FOR YOU?

FORGET about thinking that you know what Christianity is from the LOSERS you have seen in all the Churches!

They have NO SIGNIFICANCE whatsoever!

To be SAVED, you must be BETTER than any of those Hypocrites who do not know THE GOSPEL, nor CARE about it.
