Let me burst your bubbles...I am just 27, not married, no travel history...but my visa was approved on 10th f april...though I was asked if I was married but d VO dint lay emphasis on it...you guys overrate this marriage thing! I witnessed a number of married ppl being denied...marriage is a good tie but not a determining factor like you make it look
Exodus1:
@Beautyaddy dont get me wrong Ooooo
what am saying is that when am interviewer looks at your paper , he see say you are not married , your age is lets say 25 -30
and you are not married , you your self look at that age bracket , that age is young , you can travel on b1/b2 visa , get there meet a lady
marry , change your status , apply for immigrant visa using DS-260 .. NOW that right there is their fear if you are within that age bracket
Now look at the same age bracket and now the person is married , automatically you cant go through the process i just mentioned , if they give the visa and you get there and say you divorce your wife and marry another woman over there, believe me 99.9 of those kind of cases usually get denied they dont even go through at the NVC.

This happens but singles get approved every single day. The determination is not only your marital status there are other factors that the VO looks at.

Now look at the same age bracket and now the person is married , automatically automatically ke? I will see this as your opinion and respect it.[/b]

?? Huhhhhh Now, show us how you arrived at this statistics because it is very WRONG. So it is just your neigbour or a friend or colleague that is that 1 % that scaled through?? I can tell you for free people that got their stay through this means. Even tho, I see it as deceitful and wrong. of those kind of cases usually get denied they dont even go through at the NVC. Exodus1:

MARRIAGE IS A STRONG TIE , EVEN A KEY FACTOR
YOU ARE 24, NOT MARRIED , ARE YOU SPONSORING YOUR SELF? AM 100% SURE NO
SO YOUR PARENTS OR FAMILY MEMBERS SPONSORING YOU SO THEIR CREDIBILITY/ACCOUNT WILL BE CONSIDERED NOT YOURS
BUT FOR MARRIED AND MORE GROWN (AGE WISE) PEOPLE LIKE LETS SAY 30YERS
IF YOU ARE MARRIED THERES A 99.9% CHANCES YOU WILL BE BACK.
DEPENDING ON THE INTERVIEWER JUDGMENT HE OR SHE MIGHT DESIDE TO LOOK INTO OTHER DOCUMENTS YOU PRESENT
IF NOT SATISFIED THEN THERES A 100% CHANCES YOU WILL BE ASKED TO RE APPLY ANOTHER TIME
SIMPLE , HAVE SEEN LOTS OF MARRIED COUPLES DENIED AND LOTS GOT THE VISA , IT ALL DEPENDS ON THE DOCUMENTS YOU ARE PRESENTING , BUT I TELL YOU AS A MARRIED PERSON YOU HAVE AN EDGE OVER EVERY SINGLE PERSONS STANDING IN LINE TO TALK TO AN INTERVIEWER , I UNDERSTAND COMPOSURE ADDS TO IT AND THE LIST GOES ON AND ON........

I will say this again, Marriage is NOT a strong tie neither is it a key Factor. They can consider it but it does not hold the determining factor of you getting your visa or not. Do you know how many families that wore the same Ankara with their kids and were still denied. Just by looking at you, your travel history and composure to answer questions the VO already knows whether you are getting your Visa or not. Been married does not put you at an advantage over any single person. The chances are 50/50. It's just like saying 'wearing suits puts you at advantage over those wearing jeans'.

The VO only asked me, 'why haven't you renewed your visa in 2years , of which I replied that I was finishing up with school and NYSC, the second question was 'you are an Hse manager, you are so small, how do you get people to listen to you', and I told him, 'I put up a mean face and start yelling I am your boss, when I notice they are not taking me seriously', he didn't even allow me finish, was laughing and passed me the white paper'
And for your information, I am paying myself for my trip. There are 24year olds that have their shit together and can afford stuffs themselves.

You are so spot on. My last interview it was even singles that were getting it any how than the married folks.

I was 24 when I attended my first solo US interview...I was very single with no intention of getting married.

The issue of marriage did not come up once....visa was approved.

Hailings...

1. Must the onward flight (or means of transport) from new york to one's final destination be a return ticket?

2. Can one book an onward flight to the final destination a day after landing at the POE? My contact person informed me that 'based on logistics'
the only flight available from NYC to my final destination leaves about 3hrs after I land, and of cuz i wouldn't meet up.
The only other flight is the following day.
Thus, would having an onward ticket up to 24hrs after landing at the POE create problems for me at the POE?

3. Asides Greyhound, are there other reputable bus services one can utilize (considering this option if staying back in NYC for long would raise
problems for me at the POE)

Thanks.
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 2 by KaptainAfrika: 4:46pm On Apr 18, 2017
Don't reapply yet. Have a heart to heart chat with your uncle, on how he got into the US. After that plan a trip to the US, with your wife and kids. Take them to the US Embassy for a visa interview, one year from now, so you won't look desperate. I hope your wife, that's a medical doctor can explain what she does, because that will be asked of her.
No documents needed apart from your Nigerian passport, ds-160 confirmation page and the appointment paper.
If you don't appear with your wife and kids, you won't get that visa. That VO is thinking something is fishy- again ask your uncle how he got into the US.

Me and my wife didn't book any onward flight to our destination (Tennessee), though, it was asked at the POE by cbp (Washington DC). We traveled by road through mega bus (more or less like greyhound) from Union station Washington to Tennessee.

As in, right now, you don't have anything tying you back to Nigeria. In my opinion bro. Students who have gotten tourist visa, have some form of strong tie to Nigeria in the eyes of the VO.
No work. Still in school. Financially dependent.

Go and apply na. If you want to, go ahead. The VO is the one that will let you know finally.

But some unsolicited advice;
1. Read the thread. See examples of what the vos consider ties. Evaluate yourself . Then if you feel you stand a chance, apply.
2. You do not tell the vo what you will 'use as a tie'. They evaluate you based on all your info.
Finally, this nysc you are relying on... Its a one year programme right? That one can decide not to do right? That one can relocate to the the us and work without it right? Finally as you young people say these days, ' who nysc epp?'

But as I said earlier if you wanna apply, by all means go for it!

Hello house, pls I'm in a fix now and I need some clarification. my hubby and I got a visa for vacation in February, we really wanted to go for vacation then but due to the dollar scarcity, we shifted it. mid March, I was confirmed pregnant. mind u, I wasn't asked if I was pregnant during our interview and neither did I know I was pregnant den. now, I'm 3 months gone.
The issue now is my hubby and I planned going for the vacation next month (may) den I can go for childbirth later but I was told today at my office that I can't take my annual and maternity leave together in a year.
So now, I don't know what to do. can I go for childbirth later with a letter of intent since I wasn't asked if pregnant then? what are the options available for me now as I'm really confused. gurus in the house, over to u. lady Guinevere, kaptainafrika etc, over to u.

1. Your wife is pregnant. If you decide to apply with her, without showing proof that you can pay for birthing in the is , you will most likely be refused. Whether that's your intention or not cos Nigerians have perfected the lie of ' I didn't know I was pregnant' or ' I didn't plan to use the visa for birthing' so they have decided to be mean ( which I support btw)
2. You do not need an invitation from your uncle to get a visa. You can get a hotel reservation. Even if you decide to stay with family, iv letters are not asked for.
3. Whatever purpose you actually desire to travel for, use that. Neither conference nor visit carry a higher weight than the other

You may want to appeal to your office, so that you can still take a short vacation in May, even it means discounting it from your maternity leave later. I think it is important to try your best to first use the visa as you planned in your application. Consider what a stern CBP may think, if you and your husband arrive for birthing. Also, perhaps the birthing thread can offer more insight.
