Please who knows what the problem is, anytime my phone's battery gets to less than 40% the phone starts acting up, if I just unlock the device, app will just be malfunctioning anyhow, opening by themselves without my touching it. This happens when the data is on or when I'm connected to Wi-Fi. But as soon as I plug in a charger it normalizes.. I need advice please. Thanks.

Enter recovery mode and wipe the cache. If that doesn't work, do factory reset..

If the two methods doesn't work, look for forums about xiaomi phones online, you'll definitely see someone with such issue and solutions to the prob.

Are you using the correct charger?
Drain the battery to 0 till it shut down it self charge back using correct,
