Of what use is the accumulation of external reserves when I finance my electricity and produce my drinking water, contribute Estate dues to construct streets, gutters and even pay for Estate Security. Am I living in an Independent State within Nigeria, yet a Nigerian ? Pray tell me, you knowledgeable ones. Are Nigerians people living in Nigeria or People who benefit from being a Nigerian from the shared wealth among the men wey sabi ? 2 Likes |

This is good/bad news. Good news that the foreign reserve is increasing, but bad news that the crude production has fallen to 1.2 million barrels per day. OPEC gave Nigeria a production window of 2.2 million barrels per day. PMB and his crew should sit tight to remedy the situation. We need to earn all the Dollars as much as possible from the maximum production of crude. However, we need the highest transparency and openness in the oil sector and the management of FOREX. |

Haters will whisper your success but will amplify your shortcomings. I thank I read something positive about this country today. Good news hardly make headline these days. My ultimate aim for 9ja is for to drift from consumerism to a production/manufacturing Nation that is the only way we proffer solution to this Naira-dollar palaver. |

please let this increase in the external reserve be reflected as an equal decrease in the internal reserve pricing policy of our basic commodity. Until then......paper talk |

smartty68: I guess its a slow but steady process. No one should expect magic, and things initially go bad before it starts to improve. America had a recession some years ago, infact the whole world had a recession. But its all in the past now. It took almost two year in a country with a proper structure and system in place. We will get there if individuals in the populace are ready to put their foot down against all thieves representing us, and are ready to tackle corruption |

While Nigerian's are suffering, the country Is busy claiming they have foreign reserve. I guess save money at the detriment of the people. |

Considering that over $1bn has already been spent in the defence of the Naira over the past months. This is no small feat. With the decline in oil production from 2mbpd to less than 1.3mbpd, it will be difficult to continue defending the Naira without depleting the reserves. Like I always argued, increased production and high oil prices are our quickest wins against a nose-diving economy. Economic diversification is not achieved overnight and 5yrs is the shortest possible. However, achieving local food security and sustainability is the easiest way to cramp inflation. God bless Nigeria. |
